Johnny Price Orr, 1946-2019
Johnny Price Orr, age 72, passed away on March 5th, 2019 in his home in Haltom City, Texas John was born in Sherman, TX near his home town of Howe where he grew up helping to work the family farm John was known as a lover of music, sports and was never one to turn down a chance to visit with friends and family

He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia and daughter Virginia Johnny is survived by his son Joshua and his wife Lochi, and granddaughters Ariel and Audrey of Mt Airy, Maryland He is also survived by his brother Rick and his wife Charlotte of Waxahachie, Texas
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 AM
Bethany Masters signs to run track at McPherson College

Weather, and field conditions permitting, the renovation process of Howe's oldest youth baseball field will be officially unveiled tonight A M Ferguson Park will host the season opener tonight at 6 pm for the Howe 3 team in the 6U division The Howe team will host Whitewright 2
The renovations began with a $12,000 upgrade of the backstop and netting system which replaced the patched together poles and chain link
The Howe Youth Baseball organization raised over $10,000 to upgrade the concession stand, dugouts, outfield fence, and overall appearance of the field

Bethany Masters had her day in the spotlight on Friday afternoon as she signed her letter of intent to run track at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas She will join her older brother Brent Masters who also is on the track team at the college

"I was recruited by them because my brother goes there and they heard about me that way," said Masters
She will take advantage of an academic scholarship due to her outstanding work in the classroom
The Masters family moved to Howe from Eustace where their mascot was also the Bulldogs It just so happens that she'll be a lifelong Bulldog as McPherson College are also the Bulldogs.
"This is exciting because my future is pretty secure My stress is partly gone for the rest of senior year because this is decided now," said Masters
The Howe senior participates in the triple jump, 300 hurdles, long jump, and the 4x400 relay She plans to focus on jumping at the college level
Howe Athletic Director Bill Jehling stated to the audience that Masters has done a great job on the track and in the classroom
"McPherson College's track team just got a whole lot better," said Jehling.
Howe Track Coach Mike Segleski thanked her and explained to the audience that Masters has been the team captain and leads the charge page 20 for the girls' track team
"You're at the top right now in the 300 hurdles and we're sitting second in the 4x400 and sitting number seven in the 4x100 and you're sitting at the top two in the triple jump and the long jump so I don't know what else to say except how great that is," said Segleski

Howe ISD calls special board meeting to discuss principal position
Howe I S D has called for a special called meeting for Wednesday, March 27 at 6 pm at the Howe Administration Office at 105 W Tutt St

Agenda items include "Team of Eight Training" which will precede a closed session meeting outside of the public to discuss personnel which states "Campus Principal Contract "
