Howe Development Foundation discusses Howe opportunities

The Howe Development Foundation (HDF) met on Monday to begin works on updating the city's comprehensive plan HDF President Monte Walker presided over the meeting that was intended to discuss what Howe wants to be 10-20 years from now The group identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (S WO T) to determine how to better the city in the future

Strengths included the location on Highway 75, Howe ISD, having a local bank, cost of land, upcoming upgraded sports facilities, grants, campus security, Finisar employment, and that Howe is still virtually a blank sheet of paper

Threats included the encroachment of Sherman to the south with the development of FM 1417, the sewer contract with Sherman, aging infrastructure, uncontrolled growth, too many starter homes, and the increase of crime with the increase of population

The meeting was hosted by Independent Bank and the board took part in lunch by Gabriela's Mexican Cocina
