Donna Jarma, a former associate of Norman Bennett and teacher at Howe High School, had the pleasure of introducing him to the audience Jarma played the emotions as being comical and yet serious during her introduction and themed her talk about "Nice guys do finish first " She told stories and brought a memento which was Bennett's tennis hat that he had given to her She introduced him by saying, "Hats off to you " Bennett's speech was humble, yet dazzling and often had the crowd in tears of laughter He first asked everyone to pass up their homework to him He then remarked that he couldn't have been in a better (Hall of Honor) class as he taught Tommy Skipworth, and taught the children of Harold Taylor and Bob Williams
Harold Taylor was appreciative of the honor and thanked the audience He gave credit to his leadership style to his former

Bulldogs eliminated in the first round of playoffs
It was a tumultuous Whitesboro 6run first inning that did the Howe Bulldogs in on Friday night With the Bearcats winning game one on Thursday, the first inning Friday proved the be the proverbial burst of the balloon for the 'Dogs
Whitesboro (18-3) took Thursday's game from Howe (12-9) by a score of 7-3 Peyton Reagan pitched three-and-one-third inning and allowed three earned runs on six hits The Bearcats took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first and added a run in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth. Howe got a run in the fourth and two in the seventh against the Bearcats' Scout Sanders
On Friday, Bryce Krantz got the call on the mound and struck out the first batter of the game, however, that's where the fun ended for the Bulldogs Krantz hit the second batter then allowed three straight hits including a two-run triple After a strikeout, Whitesboro then singled, doubled, was hit by a pitch, and drew a walk which all accounted for a 6-run inning
The Bearcats starting pitcher Lake Longford faced one over the minimum hitters through four innings as he silenced Howe's bats For total, Longford went all seven innings, allowing only three hits, and one walk Both of Howe's runs were earned which came in the sixth inning when Kyler Anderson tripled home Chase Barnett and Layton Elvington
Howe's three hits in game two came from Anderson's triple and singles from Reagan and Dyson Dillard
In game one, Cirby Coheley had the only multi-hit game for Howe by going 2-for-3 with an RBI Howe's eight hits were scattered by Cade Courtney, Spencer Akins, Reagan, Krantz, Garret Johnson, and Mason Riggs Riggs pitched effectively in game one by going two innings and allowing no earned runs on one hit

"I wanted to be just like her and I've tried to live by that rule of doing unto others as you would have done to you," said Taylor "I told my boss when I got the postmaster job here that I would do my best to treat people right and not try to be a big boss or a power I just wanted to be a common ordinary postmaster"
Jay Skipworth was emotional as he accepted the honor for his father Tommy Skipworth "It's truly a great honor and he would have greatly appreciated this "

Betty Williams was in attendance to accept the honor for her late husband Bob Williams

"Bob was a great guy and we've missed for 18 years," said Betty Williams "Thank you to everyone for voting for Bob This is a great honor for our family"
Howe's Economic Development Director Monte Walker stated that it was important to recognize leaders that have paved the way for future leaders to take their place
"Their impact not only serves our generation but future generations because the things that Mr Bennett taught me, those get instilled in my kids," Walker told the audience "Leaders like that make huge impacts for half a century or a century so I think it's important to honor those who come before us and trailblaze a path for us "
The event was catered by the Howe PTA and funds generated from ticket sales will go towards the purchase of banquet chairs or the chamber of commerce.
