This past Saturday Pack 45 Cub Scouts put bags on doorsteps to collect nonperishable food for Scouting for Food Troop 45 will pick up the filled bags on Saturday morning, February 18 All collections will go to the local Feed My Sheep Food Pantry If you did not receive a bag and wish to donate, please place your donation on your porch and Troop 45 can pick it up

Fire contained at Bainbrook Apartments
Tonight, the 18-10 Howe Lady Bulldogs will be in search of their fifth consecutive bi-district championship under Head Coach Derek Lands The girls will take on the Whitesboro Lady Bearcats, a team in which they were defeated by earlier in the season

New pastor at FUMC
On Tuesday night around 7 pm, residents in the Bainbrook Apartment complex started smelling smoke and seeing evidence of smoke coming through their air conditioning vents A blaze penetrated the roof of the southern unit in the middle of the building

"We think it started in one of the bathrooms of the apartments " said Howe Fire Chief Robert Maniet on the scene Tuesday night "The point of origin is leaning towards the air conditioner unit inside the apartment complex It did reach extension in all of the attics and penetrated the roof "
A resident, Jonathan Curry, said that he arrived home at approximately 7 p m
As soon as I kicked on the A/C, I started smelling that campfire smell " said Curry "I invited my buddy in and smoke started rolling through the apartment He said, 'something's not right' so I called the fire department and started knocking on everybody's doors and telling everyone to get out."
Curry said the alarm sounding in apartment unit number 10 which was three down from him. He looked for his car in the parking lot and didn't see it, so he knew that he wasn't home at the time Once the Howe Fire Department arrived on the scene, Curry was able to let them know who was home and who was not as well as which tenants had pets
Just after the fire was contained, Howe Police Sergeant Michael Hill gathered the residents that were affected by the blaze and told them that power was about to be shut off to the building and that they would be able to be assisted inside their apartments in order to quickly get valuables and any firearms
