Heacher of the Month
Hello, I’m Holly Jones. This is my second year at Howe Elementary I am really loving it here! The staff and students are awesome to be around. My favorite part is being with the kids and all the great hugs I get from them each day! I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year brings! I am honored to be Employee of the Month!

harvest,” Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 If your life is spent on gaining more this world has to offer in the end you will lack contentment, fulfillment, security, peace, and joy You will never gain what you’ve craved Contentment is found in Jesus Don’t be deceived into seeking life in anything that is temporary “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what would a man give in return for his soul?”
Matthew 16:26
“He who finds his life will loose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it,” Matthew 10:39
There’s an old country song that says “looking for love in all the wrong places,” and it’s a sad fact People look to feel alive, in all the wrong places Fulfillment cannot be found in relationships, wealth, possessions, or success. You may think you’ve reached your destiny when you climb to the top of the corporate ladder or when you have the man or the woman of your dreams, or maybe you won the lotto and was able to buy everything you’ve had on your wish list since you were 9 years old. But that will not bring everlasting fulfillment You may be pouring all your heart (mind, will and emotions) and all your strength into whatever you think will create your happiness and fulfillment You don’t have to be like those who try to find their life in the temporary things of this world With the last breath you take you will leave everything you spent your life acquiring behind “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under the heaven
A time to be born and a time to die
A time to plant and a time to
If you expect unchanging happiness in a changing world you will be greatly disappointment Seize the opportunity for every good purpose and work to glorify God not yourself. No one was sent into the world to be idle We are to be successful and blessed so we can be a blessing to others You don’t have to reach the end of your life with a soul that is empty Jesus is the way, the truth and the life To loose your life for Jesus’ sake simple means to make knowing Him intimately your priority in life There is only one way to have an intimate relationship with Jesus and that is to read His word with the intent to listen, learn and obey That is God’s way of revealing Himself to us through the power of His living words “So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it,” Isaiah 55:11 God’s word is alive and is compared to rain in the verse before! “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry,” Isaiah 55:10 It’s through the Bible that God will reveal Himself to you and inhabit your thinking It’s that real relationship with God that will over flow into a joy that the world cannot understand He becomes your strength and nothing can shake it The fruit of your relationship with Him produces in every area of your life “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control There is no law against these things!” Galatians 5:22-23 No law can come against the fruit the spirit cultivates in you because it comes from the Holy Spirit As you set aside your selfinterest, the life you will gain in its place glorifies God now and for eternity That is the only way to gain true fulfillment
“In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you,” John 14:20 If you don’t have a Bible please contact me at sfadebbie@yahoo com and I will provide you with one
Local Howe man hits the "Silver Screen"

Reproductions abound today and are becoming better and better We should all develop our senses (including that old standby common sense or “gut feel”) to sleuth out problems with antiques If we learn to read what our pieces are telling us, we can soon know where to look and how to interpret where, how, and approximately when it was made; also what repairs or alterations have taken place
Look for age indicators: natural wear on upper front edges of stretchers on tables and chairs, saw cuts or plane marks on the underside of table tops and drawer sides and bottoms, off-centered screw heads, mushroom- or rosebud- headed nails and wooden pegs, wood shrinkage across the grain, dovetails held together without glue, only one or two dovetails in a drawer, uneven dovetails, soft edges where a hand or foot may have rested, wear around drawer pulls, a smell like an attic on a rainy day, the bottoms of all drawers will be the same color except for the bottom one that has been exposed to air, and handplaned drawer bottoms will bulge in the middle
Study books that define the types of hardware used during different periods Also different wood was used during certain periods. For instance, mahogany was not commonly used in American furniture until 1750; pine, poplar, and walnut were popular early woods with golden oak being a popular wood in the 1920s
Look for alteration hints: holes where feet once stood, arms cut off chairs, rockers cut off feet or rockers added, plywood (it didn’t come into use until 1900), color tone differences where new wood hasn’t been oxidized, topheaviness (the feet have been removed or changed), holes in drawers of previous hardware, old paint under the seat and around the legs, the smell of new wood, and wormholes that go straight in have been drilled (faked)
These are just a few of the ways that antiques speak to us If we will just learn to listen
