Being the fourth camp in Howe, Hudson says that some of the entering freshman have been through this atmosphere and they seem to flow through the camp knowing exactly what to expect The benefit of consistency with a coaching staff and a program allows for kids to adjust easier Repetition is the key for getting better in nearly everything one does and having a constant message year-in and year-out is a big advantage for Howe
"The kids that come that are continually around us have no issues with transitioning to high school " said Hudson
There were no eye-popping moments by coaches with athletes Hudson says that they've been there long enough to have a good grasp on what their athletes are
"Our summer workouts here - we see 75 kids every morning So there's not many surprises after awhile "
The younger group went through footwork drills as well as learning how to properly throw a football, catch a football and punt a football Howe rarely does any of those things, but it's part of the 101 teaching
"We're teaching fundamentals " said Hudson "Fundamentals are being washed away from a lot of games these days The ones that excel are fundamentally sound "
Hudson seems to smile more come late July Football season is on the horizon and it's the time of year coach's blood seems to pump faster "It's my safe zone, comfort zone and my passion " said Hudson "It's the time of year that my family knows that they won't get to talk to me for four months and they'll be drug around all over God's green earth It's what we look forward to as a family and we enjoy it
