“Don’t let your heart be troubled

Trust in God, and trust also in Me,” John 14:1
It is easy to fall into a cycle of letting your circumstances and stress control your heart; worries carried from one day into the next day These are only compounded by new situations and additional anxiety

This is not the way of life that Christ has called His followers to have You cannot experience the peace and joy that Jesus gives when you carry burdens He never intended you to carry. When you are weighed down with worries your heart is focused on them instead of Jesus
You have got to create a new pattern of thinking and then do it everyday until it becomes your new instinct
Instead of allowing circumstances to control your heart, take control of what your heart focuses on “Don’t let your heart be trouble Believe in God and believe also in Me,” John 13:38 Do not let your heart be troubled when your heart becomes worried and troubled, realize that you face an immediate choice to disobey the teachings of Jesus and remain troubled or to trust Jesus with your circumstances and praise Him in the storm You cannot do both
Jesus came to the world to do His Father’s will and we are to do His will, also We are to unite with other followers of Jesus Christ, and being equipped with the Holy Spirit, to finish His work here on earth That is the calling and purpose of each and every Christian To accomplish this you will need the peace of Jesus in your heart That is the only way you can preserver through adversity, trial or trouble It is only through the peace that comes from trusting Jesus that you will be able to accomplish what God has planned for you It’s through your love for Jesus and His peace in you that this world will be amazed and sees you different There are so many people that need to hear and see the Gospel at work in the lives of those who confess Jesus as their Savior People that are lost without Jesus have no hope of true peace When they see you do have that unexplainable peace, it is as noticeable as sunray on a dark and cloudy day
Ephesians 6:13-15 refers to the Gospel of Peace as being shoes we put on You have complete control of being barefoot or wearing shoes but you cannot make peace a way of life on your own without Christ If you struggle with anxiety and stress and your peace is quickly replaced by worry and fear then the answer is the peace of Jesus The peace of Jesus can only be found in Jesus not the knowledge of Him It can only be experienced as you abide or stay in an intimate relationship with Him You become intimate with Christ as you read your Bible and obey His words. You will gain trust and confidence that He is Who He says He is and He does what He says He will Trust builds a bond with Jesus just as it does in other relationships We learn to trust who we can count on, who keeps their promises and whose word is honorable We trust who we know looks out for our best interest We trust who makes sacrifices for us We trust those who truly love us Those are the traits of God, your perfect Father in Heaven That is who you will become intimate with through His Word What God does for one person He will do for you “Then Peter began to speak: ‘I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism,’” Acts 10:35 As your mind hears the Truth of God’s Word, your heart will realizes the love that Christ has for you He loved you first, He knows where you’ve been and loved you in the waiting When that becomes the truth of who you are, you will love Him in an intimate way and His peace will be overwhelming because of complete trust “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace In this world you will have trouble But take heart! I have overcome the world ” John 16:33

I had an opportunity to visit with the Unique Business Women’s Club, a department of the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs, in Sanger a couple of weeks ago They asked me to talk about one of my favorite topics pottery made in Denton County So I took some examples from the Courthouse Museum’s collection of studentmade CIA Pottery and pottery from the Wilson Pottery Site in Corinth For those of you who are not familiar with either of these types of pottery, here is a short history:
Denton County (organized in 1846) has soil that is heavily concentrated in clay from the Eagle Ford Geological Formation that outcrops in Dallas and Denton Counties Settlers migrating into the county by wagon were not able to transport the heavy stonewares and building materials needed for everyday life The necessity for pottery to be made in their communities, coupled with readily available, suitable clay spurred family-owned and operated pottery businesses These pottery kiln sites in Denton County contributed necessary household vessels and bricks to the surrounding communities
As many as twelve historic pottery sites have been identified in Denton County Overall, they were in operation at various intervals between the mid 1800s to the early 1900s The sites are identifiable on the basis of historical records, kiln structures, and ceramic shards In order to reliably attribute an unmarked piece of pottery to a particular potter one must know its history of ownership
Those potteries were the John Cranston Pottery in the Alton Community, Joseph C Lambert site and A H Serren in southern Denton County near Corinth, Roark/Griffith Pottery near the Little Elm Reservoir, the Wilson kiln within present-day Corinth, and seven others that operated in or near the city limits of Denton: Denton Pottery Works, later known as the Kingdon Pottery; J Sublitz Pottery, J B Tipton Pottery,
