Beckemeyer new president of Keep Howe Beautiful
Curt Beckemeyer has accepted the position of president of Keep Howe Beautiful after past president Monte Walker resigned the post in November.

Curt Beckemeyer is a native of New Orleans
He graduated from Holy Cross High School and served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for six years He began his career with the United States Postal Service in Chalmette, Louisiana in 1973, soon after high school graduation and the year his oldest son Chris was born. Chris works at Pontchartrain Mechanical as a lead mechanical designer. His youngest son, Cory, was born in 1978. He recently received his Masters in continued on Page #3

In 1983, Curt transferred to the Plano Post Office, where he met his future wife LeAndra Beckemeyer a few years later. LeAndra became the Postmaster of Howe in 2001; they both loved the small town atmosphere of Howe They decided to make the move to Howe in 2003, and found a wonderful home in a great neighborhood He has been active in the community, especially after he retired in 2008 after 35 years with the Postal Service He has assisted with Chamber of

events
As President of Keep Howe Beautiful, Curt stated, “I’d like to continue with the efforts to show off the pride and appeal of small town Howe ” He added that it is a collaborative effort and he is fortunate that most of the board and members have lived here a long time and are knowledgeable about our town past as well as our future, the children of Howe
Curt has three grandchildren, Russell, Gabriel and Autumn, as well as a grandson due in February.
Fourth graders “CAN” make a difference
This holiday season the Howe Elementary 4th graders decided to have a canned food drive to help the local food bank at First United Methodist Church The students donated close to 400 canned goods The teachers discussed how instead of a $5 gift exchange, they would have students bring canned goods. $5 goes a long way in feeding people and this time of year we’d like for the students to see the true gift is giving
