Frontier Begins Running Fiber Lines in Town

As a Facebook user in the Howe online community, I see many complaints thrown out into the ether constantly. The complaints, although many times potentially valid, are a waste of time to cause any actual change on the Facebook platform.

The Mayor and City Council give citizens time to present concerns and comments to them at the beginning of every meeting. If anyone truly wants to have their issues heard on a platform that can actually change things, this is the way to do it. If you are unfamiliar with the process, this is how it works:

According to Justin Johnson, Public Works Director, there will be some lines that are run aerially, similar to telephone lines, and some run underground. The aerial lines will mostly be installed in the older parts of town while the underground lines will be placed primarily in the newer parts of town. Johnson stated that the

-Arrive a few minutes early -Fill out a brief slip that is available to you upon entering the door -Give your slip to the Mayor prior to the meeting beginning -After the general announcements the Mayor will say it is time for citizen comments -You will be called up to the podium and expected to say your name and address -At this time you will be given 2 minutes to voice your comments Please remember, the Mayor and City Council do their jobs for free and care about the community, please show respect accordingly. project will be done by Frontier and 360 Band and will occur Monday -Friday for a duration of 8-10 weeks, subject to change dependent upon weather and other factors. Most importantly, Johnson would like to express to the community that if any issues arise to please contact City Hall to get in touch with the Public Works Department. He explained that they cannot help the citizens if they do not know an issue is occurring and to please reach out.

Katie Lowery Sworn in as New City Secretary Ashley Husbands This Tuesday, Katie Lowery was sworn in as the new City Secretary for the City of Howe. At the last City Council meeting a unanimous vote was taken to hire Ms. Lowery. Mayor Karla McDonald issued the following statement on her “Howe Mayor Karla McDonald” Facebook page: “Please join me in welcoming Katie Lowery to the City of Howe team. (…) Ms. Lowery holds both an Associate of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She joins us from the City of Denison and brings a strong background in municipal

administration, including experience in human resources, payroll administration, accounts payable and purchasing, budget management, administrative support, report writing and documentation, recruitment and onboarding, contract and compliance oversight, event planning and coordination, social media management, and grant writing assistance. We are excited to have Ms. Lowery join our team and look forward to the knowledge, professionalism, and experience she will bring in serving the Citizens of Howe.” Ms. Lowery has officially begun her duties with the City, as of Tuesday.
