nowupandrunning.CrimePreventiontechnologyforasystemcalled Flock,thatwillprovidean“additional investigativetoolforthosewho choosetocommitcrimesinourcity againstourcitizens,itallowsusto workwithothercountiestotrackoffendersastheycomein”,thisitem wasapprovedbythecouncillaterin themeeting.Mapswerealsopresentedshowingdataofwherecitations, callvolumeandcrimeoccursinareas ofthecity.
ChiefManietoftheFireDepartment deliveredareportincluding76Fire andEMScallsthismonthtothedepartment.Anewprocedurecalleda fingerthoracostomyisnowabletobe conductedbythedepartmentemployees.Advancededucationisinthe processofbeingpursuedtoupgrade thedepartmentandprepareforfuture growth.Thefiredepartmentreceived 5newsetsofgeartoprotectthefiremenfromharmfulfire,debrisand carcinogens.TCFP(TexasCommissionsFireProtection),theregulatory departmentforFireServicesinthe state,willsoonconductaninspection tofurthertheaccreditationprocessfor thedepartment,movingtowarda TCFPcertified,full-timedepartment fortheCity.FireandEMSarenowin cross-trainingtohaveemployeesable todoboth.
TheCitySecretary,MichelleHewitt reportedthattheonlinepaymentportalisnowrestored.Ahighercaliberof HealthInsurancefortheemployees hasbeeninpreparationattheCity. Therealsoisnowaneedtohirea newpermitclerk,asthecourts broughtinarevenueof$17,695.35 thislastmonthandareontrackto doubletheamountthatwasestimated inrevenueforcourt.
PublicWorksandCityAdministrationreportswerepresentedbyCity Administrator,MonteWalker.Public workscarriedout136serviceorders, 3newmeterswereset,3meterleaks wererepaired,5watermainleaks wererepaired,18disconnections,25 hoursofmowing,and116hours werespentonwells.Well4hasbeen approvedforrepairsandisunderway. Well3hadanissueovertheweekend butMr.JerryDavisofPublicWorks actedquicklytopreventanissuethat couldhaveoccurred.
FortheCity,manydevelopmentsare stillactivelyunderway.Ponderosa Pointhascommercialcontractsthat havebeensignedandwillbeannouncedattheupcomingBusiness SummitonApril29th.Moreupdates todevelopmentscanbefoundbeginningat37minutesinatthislink. Walkersays,“wearealmostthere,I canseethetape,fortheBVRTWater treatmentfacilityproject”.

In1926,heestablishedthenavy’sfirstROTCprogram toensureasteadysupplyofreliable, educatedofficersforthenavy. HequicklyralliedAmerican shipstostoptheJapaneseadvance onAustraliawiththeBattleof theCoralSeain1942. Learning thatJapanwastryingtofinishoffthe navy,heorganizedamassivefleetto meettheJapaneseatMidwaythat June. MidwaywasatremendousvictoryforAmerica,allowingtheU.S.to recapturetheCentralPacific. Japanese officialsrealizedtheyhadlostthewar atthatpointbutfoughton.
Nimitzorganizedthe“islandhopping”campaignsoftheSouthPacificasAmericanforcesfoughttoliberatekeyislandgroups. Histacticsat theBattleofLeyteGulfin1944broke thebackoftheremainingJapanese navyandledtotherecaptureof thePhilippines. WhenJapanfinally
surrenderedin1945,Nimitzwason theUSSMissouritoaccepttheircapitulation
Afterthewar,Nimitzwas namedChiefofNavalOperationsand oversawthedismantlingofthemassivefleetthenationhadbuiltduring thewar. Atthesametime,hepushed formodernizationofthefleetasoversawtheconstructionofthesubmarine USSNautilus,thefirstnuclearpowerednavalvessel. Heretiredfrom hisdutiesaschiefofnavaloperations in1947,buthisstatusasafleetadmiral kepthimonactiveduty. Heservedas aSpecialAssistanttotheSecretaryof theNavy,advisingthenavyonspecial issues. Healsoservedasaregentfor theUniversityofCaliforniasystem duringthe1950s.
Hediedathishome inCaliforniain1966. Thenation reveredthegreatheroafterhispassing. Eightcommunitiesnamed schoolsafterhim,includingahigh schoolinIrvingandanelementary schoolinKerrville. In1971,his hometownofFredericksburghonored himbyopeningtheChesterNimitzMuseumwhichhassinceexpanded intotheNationalMuseumofthePacificWar. In1975,thenavycommissionedtheUSSNimitz,atop-of-thelinenuclear-poweredaircraftcarrier,a vesselstillservingtothisday.

IadmitI’manemotionalperson.IremembergoingtoseethePassionmoviewhenitwasreleasedbackin2004 andIwasbrokentomycore.It’snot uncommonformetocrywhenIwitnesssomethingthatmovesmysoul andthisranksatthetopofmylist.As thescenesofwhatTheSonofGod wentthroughwaspresentedbefore me,Ikeptthinkinghowcouldanyone watchthisandnotknowthatHeis trulyImmanuel,TheLambofGod, TheMessiah,andSavior?I’mnot ashamedtowearmyfeelingsonmy sleevewhenitcomestomyloveand loyaltytoHim.Weareconstantlybeingpulledineverydirection,andinfluencedtoestablishworldlythingsas ourhighestpriority,butletusprotect andpreserveourspiritualsensitivityto avoidbecominghardened,cold,and uncaring.
WethinkaboutwhyHecametoearth whichisexplainedsoclearlyinthe sixteenthverseofthethirdchapterof John,andreadhowHewasbetrayed bythoseHetrustedandwasdeniedby Hisclosestfriends.Thegovernment andreligiouscommunityrejectedHis message,thegeneralpopulation mockedHimandeventuallyagreedto publiclyexecuteHimonthegrounds ofblasphemy.Forwhat?Simplyand truthfullyadmittingHewastheSon ofGod.Sadly,thingshavenotreally changedthatmuchasHeisstillconsideredahereticandHisfollowersare persecuted.AsChristiansweknowHe isTheway,Thetruth,andThelife,and Himresurrectingfromthedead provesHeisthelightoftheworld,The breadoflife,andnoonecanconvince usotherwise.
Jesuswasconstantlyapproachedby thoseindesperateneedandisHisnatureandcharactertobeconcernedand compassionate.Nothinghaschanged, Heisstillthesame.Theworldhasal-
