The 2013-2014 Tatler yearbook is dedicated to Ryan Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey has been a part of Howe Military Academy since August of 2012. He graduated from Ball State University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in education in the Experimental Learning program. He further earned endorsements in reading and technology. During his college work, Mr. Humphrey earned a certificate of science curriculum design from The Smithsonian.
Mr. Humphrey has previously taught in LaPorte, Elkhart, Fairfield, and Culver. He has coached varsity lacrosse for ten years as well as baseball, soccer, and basketball. His summers are spent at Culver Academy as Division Commander in their summer program.
Mr. Humphrey teaches biology, physics and co-teaches a class in mechanical/electrical engineering with Mr. Clark as well as a film history class with Mrs. Hoover. He also serves in many capacities outside of the classroom. He has coached the varsity soccer team for two years, golf, speech and robotics, and is introducing lacrosse this spring as a club sport. He is excited about bringing the sport of lacrosse to the Howe cadets and we look forward to a great season this spring. You can also catch him broadcasting the boy's basketball home games.
Outside of Howe, Mr. Humphrey has one son, Finley, and two dogs.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?
If I could have any superpower, it would be animal morphing so I could be any animal at any time.
What would you put in a time capsule?
I would place a picture of myself followed by a description of my life. I would then put it in an envelope with my necklace with a cross hanging from it. :)
I prefer basically anything relaxing, classical, jazz or something slow is good.
If there was a zombie apocolypse who would be on your team and why?
I would either have fat kids so that I could run away as they are devoured, or people I like here, because they entertain me.

Cadet Forsythe works on building a robot. "The cadets were very excited about the robot and generally did a wonderful job of working together," said Mr. Clark.
"The most difficult thing was getting the little pieces into the wheel," says Ben Roberts. "We worked together to accomplish something we didn't know how to do, 11 said Turner.
"If there is enough enthusiasm from the cadets and support from the adm instration we will put ...__ __.._,_. together another team next year," says Mr. Clark "We worked together and could get any task done, 11 said Nick Hoezee.

Chinese New Year is celebrated with good food, colorful decorations, and family time. It culminates with a Lantern Festival on the fifteenth day. The New Year's Eve Dinner is the most important dinner for Chinese. Normally it is a family reunion dinner. Red Packets are also distributed during Chinese New Year. These are red envelopes with money inside, ranging from one to a few thousand Chinese Yuan. These are usually given to young children. It is believed that the money in the red packet will suppress the evil from the children as well as keep them healthy and long living. Cadet Hu demonstrated Chinese New Year to the Corps by bringing back red packets and activities, like origami, for them to try.
Cadets enjoyed several fun Chinese New Year activities.
