Favori te Mr Clark Saying: ''I'd have liked to have a kitten !"

Favo r it e Mr Clark stories:

"Mr Clark hates cats His wife love s them like children The newest of their many cats wasn't fitting in wi t h the others, so Mr Clark decided to bring the cat to a fellow teacher who cared for stray and rescued cats He didn't tell his wife he was doing this. Needless to say, his wife was heartbroken and the very next day Mr. Clark came home with the original cat plus one more."

"Vince is Mrs. Clark's cat and Mr. Clark's feline foe. One year Vince sprayed their live Christmas tree not just the tree, but the water basin. In short order, the whole tree (then the whole house) smelled like cat-pee covered fir tree. Mr. Clark 'fixed' the problem by pouring pine-scented potpourri oil into the tree water, making it smell like fir tree, covered in cat-pee, covered in fake-fir-tree. The tree didn't make it to Christmas."

Howe Time Flies when your senior year is finally here. Seniors will look back to when they were in elementary school to where they are now It seems like only yesterday when you were in kindergarten taking a nap and now there is no recess or scheduled nap time . The seniors are counting down the days until graduation when they will become Howe alumni. They also look forward to taking on the faculty in the faculty/senior softball game the Friday before graduation. Who will win? The seniors say that it will be them. Who do you think?

V1he n the rise

The graduating classes of 2009, 2010, and 2011 started off the year with new ranks and positions. Thejuniorscannotwaittobe seniors and are counting down the days until they take command. The sophomores are old pros of the high school now and try to tell the freshmen the rules and which classes to be prepared for next year. The freshman have left the lower school and are now swimming with the big fish in the upper school. They are learning that most teachers expect more from them now.

Howe time flies when the juniors spend the first three years waiting to be seniors. In only a few short months their long awaited dream will come true and they will be the big dogs on campus. Many are wondering who will be the next Battalion commander. Most are looking forward to getting their class ring at the end of the year.

In just a few short months new leadership will be taking over. The class of '09 will finally have their dream come true.

"The varsity basketball season started off to a very good start By Christmas break, we were 3-3 Since Christmas break we have had a long stretch of very tough games We have had our ups and downs throughout the season. we have made adjustments and improvements. Through it all, we have grown as a team, as individuals, as players and as a coach I am proud of the team for finishing strong.

Our most improved player this year has to be Graham Mclaren. He has been a part of the junior-varsity and varsity program for three years. Every year, he continues to amaze me at the improvements that he makes The best effort award must go to Evan Holmes He has been a part of the basketball program for four years. He has always and consistently given 100% in every game he has ever played

The most valuable player is Melvin Sillman Melvin has been a significant contribution to our team in the three years that he has been here. He has averaged over 21 points per game, over 6 blocks per game, and over 9 rebounds per game We loose several seniors this year and they will be missed. This year marks the 6th Anniversary of September 11th. People all over the world paid their respects to all the fallen victims of 9/11 and their families. HMS paid their respect by having a parade and a cannon salute.

Former NFL player, Joe Jackson, arrived at Howe Military School to give a motivational speech at All Saints Chapel on September 21, 2007, at 1 :00. Cadet Hai Bin Zheng played the piano before Jackson began to talk. The corps of cadets listened as Jackson talked about what his life would have been like if he had followed the path that his friends had taken. He talked about never giving up and working hard to

reach your goals.

At the end of his speech he told the corps to stand and sing "Lean on Me" with him. When it was time to leave Cadet Zheng played a lively tune for the cadets to march out on. Overall, it was an inspirational talk and well worth the stay.

on September 29, 2007, six cadets qualified to be inducted into the John A. Pagin Chapter of the National Honor Society. Cadets A. Burns, A. Drioupine, A. Noel, A. Sims, K. Vaughn, and J. Wang maintained at least a 3.0 accumulative GPA which allowed them the opportunity to become NHS members. Members of the NHS committee voted for

new members based on evidence of Leadership, Scholarship, Service, and Character.

It was a beautiful day for the Founders' Day parade and cadets' parents filled the stands to watch as their children marched onto the parade field. The HMS band played and the cannon was fired for the National Anthem. Each company marched past the viewing stand and rows of parents seated in the bleachers.

Several cadets received promotions. Parents pinned new ranks on their children and the new cadets received their Howe crest at the chapel service They were now official Howe cadets.

our track season was filled with crazy and unusual weather. This made the season often cold and miserable; however, our track team handled this adversity and moved forward to have a successful season. We loose one senior this year, Bert Walker. Bert has been with the track team for four years. He has grown and matured as a team member. This year he was our team captain and he did an outstanding job.

we have lots of returning players. We look to big things from our up and coming
