In Norman England, the ferocious boar still was sovereign of the forests_, and therefore a symbol of evil. The presentation of the Boars Head at Christmas time signified the triumph of good over evil. The fresh Yule log, representing the warmth of the family fireside_, marks the rekindling of love as the old year passes and the new begins. The Boar"s Head Dinner was started at Howe Military School by the late Colonel Burreff B. Bouton in 1937 and is continued today by Mr. John Pagin. Its history goes back to 1300 in Merry Old England where it introduced the Christmas Season. The costumes are authentic and the meal and trimmings traditional.

To laugh often and much:

To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation 0f honest critics and endure the betrayal of false · friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in , others, to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you lived. This is to have succeeded.

Our Mission

The mission of Howe Military School has been for 106 years, and will continue to be, "the preparation of students for higher education and the development of character." We this through a structured environment and a three-pronged approach to education: spiritual, intellectual, and physical. The foundation of our mission is our mottos: Fides et Honor (Faith and Honor) and Ecclesiae et Patriae (God and Country). Our goal is the attainment of a "clean mind in a sound body."

Somebody said ft couldi't be done, But he with a chuckle replied

So he buckled right fn with the trace of a grfn on his face. 11 he worried he htd it. That "maybe ft couldn't," but he would be one Who wouldn't say so till he trfed.

He started to sfng a& he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did ft.

COMES Tm; DAWH

After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul.

And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security, And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises, And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child,

And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans.

After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure ... that you really are strong, And you really do have worth.

Anonymous

We should all be concerned about the future because that is where we will spend the rest of our lives.
