With great respect, Mr. Schinbeckler, the senior class of 1975 dedicates its yearbook to you. To the class of '75 you have been not only an exemplary teacher but, above all, a wonderful friend. He attended college at Purdue University, Iowa State and Michigan State._He was married on April 5, 1941 to Helen Edwards and now has two sons, David and Forrest. Mr. Schinbeckler is a member of the La Grange Rotary ( 1944-1975) and was president of the Kendallville Club in 1947. Mr. Schinbeckler taught at Kendallville High School for 25 years before coming to Howe in 1964. His hobbies include photography, gardening and handicrafts. During vacations the Schinbecklers have traveled to the Orient, Europe and most parts of the U.S. Mr. Schinbeckler teaches Chemistry, Biochemistry and Science Survey.
About the heart of this, our school, Through many tiny intricacies, Through times both lean and plentiful
And constantly they ore, from lost to first,
All are, despite small difficulties,
Through many different aspects of our lives,
Standing proud . We offer thanks to those who give Themselves to us, that our minds then may yield Great tribute to them all the years we live, To each of them within their separate field Standing proud . Emerging to the warming rays Of manhood's long awaited summer And spreading o'er our different ways We shall not falter, for we're forever
Standing proud . . .
From dawn to dusk, from fall to spring We fill our days with so much more; we are, Engulfed in such a multitude of things, Standing proud . Upon the field of completion We toil to hear the melody Which signals successful completion But win or lose, we'll always be Standing proud .
Standing proud . . .
About the heart of this Howe Military Though many tiny intricacies,
Progressing yet toward the summertime,
Through times both lean and plentifu1 All are, despite small difficulties,
Through many stages, through the best and worst, Engulfing all their minds with thought sublime,
Standing proud . .

II As the hands of time move Move slowly round the clock. In our familiar Church tower, We'll look back to yesterdays From our place in the world's tomorrow! Then we will remember times and Friends and faces, The work we did, Things we said, Old times, Pals, And places. And e'er we turn a page, We murmur then a prayer For each and everyone who in these Memories share!

A large number of patrons, cadets, staff members and friends of Howe attended the new Pete Fall Industrial Arts Center dedication, Sunday, October 6, 1974. During the past three years the Fathers' Association discussed a "hobby crafts center" concept for students but a large donation by a patron enlarged the concept to include a machine shop, photographic training darkroom, and an area for drafting tables and hobby crafts. The Board of Trustees had approved a 1973 recommendation by the Superintendent to permit the Fathers' Association to occupy the building for the purpose of advancing vocational study at Howe Military School. Sixty students enthusiastically endorsed the Center curriculum in early September, and Mr. Steve Clark was appointed supervisor and instructor by Colonel Kelly. The Center, dedicated to the memory of the late patron, Pete Fall, was renovated during the summer and completed September 1, 1974 at the cost of $51,000.00. Fathers' Association President Fred Southworth emphasized that the Association will maintain the operating budget, and they will be happy to receive donations and/ or memorials from time to time to make metal machinery possible for an expanded course in 1977-78.

Mangan, B.W. as the Court Jester.
With the colorful and dramatic Boar's Head Dinner, Howe School continues an ancient English Christmas tradition. Dating to pagan times, when the boar was first served at Roman feasts, the ceremony became part of the Christmas festivities in the great manor houses of the Middle Ages. In Norman England, the ferocious boar still was sovereign of the forests, and therefore a symbol of evil. The presentation of the boar's head at Christmas time signified the triumph of good over evil. The fresh Yule log, representing the warmth of the family fireside, marks the rekindling of love as the old year passes and the new begins. No one is sure who first planned the boar's head procession. It is known that it was in use at Queen's College, Oxford, shortly after the latter's founding in 1340. It continues to this day. During several centuries of presentation at Cambridge and Oxford, there were further added a huge mince pie and plum pudding. To the procession were added the wise men, the shepherds, slaves, beefeaters and knights. The festival was started in America during Colonial days by the Bouton family, which settled in Connecticut, and later moved to New York. A descendant, Dr. Tibbits, became Rector of Hoosac School in Hoosick, New York, in 1888. There he established the Boar's Head festival. The Boar's Head Dinner was started at Howe Military School by the late Colonel Surrett B. Bouton in l 937 and continued by the faculty and the late Howard W. Downs. The costumes are authentic and the meal and trimmings traditional.

A Fath_e r's Prayer
Congratulations
Mark and the Senior Class of 1975
Build me a Son, 0 Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory. Build me a Son whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be; a Son who will know Thee . . . and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge. Lead Him, I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let Him learn to stand up in the storm; here let Him learn compassion for those who fail. Build me a Son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high; a Son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men; one who will reach into the future yet never forget the past. And after all these things are His, add I pray, enough of a sense of humor so that He may always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously. Give Him humility, so that He may always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true sfrength. Then, I, His father, will dare to whisper, "I have not lived in vain."
General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur
Love and best wishes for future happiness and success, Mark and Craig, and your fellow GRADUATES of 1975
Our sincere appreciation to the faculty and staff who share with us, in this "Golden Moment," the joy of our Sons' achievements. Congratulations

Class of 1975 HIS GRADUATION DAY The baseball glove, electric trains, And kites that flew above the trees Are childhood souvenirs -for now He has no time for things like these. For through the years of "growing up," Although we know not how or when, Time performs its miracles And changes little boys to men. This is his Graduation Day; Tall and erect he proudly stands, With tomorrow's vision in his eyes, That prized diploma in his hands.
