Join Young Professionals Backstage for the 2011–2012 season!

YPB is a society of young professionals that mixes behind-the-scenes access and up-in-front support of the Houston Symphony. If you enjoy music, want to be more connected to the Houston arts scene, or like meeting new people with similar interests, YPB is for you!

Membership in YPB is $75 annually. YPB non-subscriber members can:  Attend events free, including lectures, happy hours, open rehearsals and the pre-concert mixer at official YPB concerts  Purchase single tickets to official YPB concerts for $25 each, which include a post-concert after party with free drinks and hors d’oeuvres  Purchase single tickets at a 20% discount

The base YPB Subscription Package includes all 3 official 2011–2012 YPB Concerts: Idina Menzel Friday, October 14, 2011, 8 pm The Star of Rent, Wicked, and Glee debuts with the Houston Symphony!

This Tony® Award-winning Broadway powerhouse and star of Glee joins your Houston Symphony to dazzle you with Idina Menzel hits from her starring roles in Wicked as Elphaba and in Rent as Maureen, songs from her album I Stand and more. This exciting performance will demonstrate why Menzel is selling out concert halls across the country!

Beethoven’s Fifth Thursday, February 23, 2012, 8 pm John Storgårds, conductor Colin Currie, percussion Brahms: Tragic Overture Rautavaara: Incantations for Percussion and Orchestra Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 Colin Currie, percussion Experience the drama of Beethoven’s most famous work. You’ll hear the contrast between breathless tenderness and the powerful, triumphal finale. Plus, see Colin Currie, a star in the world of solo percussion, for whom Rautavaara composed the provocative concerto, Incantations.

Carmina Burana Friday, May 18, 2012, 7 pm ACCESS FORMAT* Hans Graf, conductor Marc Molomot, tenor Hugh Russell, baritone Houston Symphony Chorus Charles Hausmann, director Orff: Carmina Burana By popular demand, the Houston Symphony will close its season with Carmina Burana, a giant of the classical repertoire. *Friday Access Concert format features an earlier start time, hosted commentary and no intermission.
