








The HCHSA, in partnership with The Chevron Championship, hosted the 2024 Chevron | Sports Authority Foundation Golf Classic. This exciting golf event provided golfers with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play on the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods a day after an LPGA major champion was crowned. Proceeds from the tournament will go towards supporting scholarship opportunities for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Both Chevron and the HCHSA are dedicated to the advancement of education and helping create a brighter future for deserving students.
The spirit of the Olympic & Paralympic movement rolled into Houston as the Harris County - Houston Sports Authority hosted 2024 Olympic &Paralympic Day. The annual event focuses on Olympic and Paralympic values and ideals such as fair play, perseverance, respect, and sportsmanship.
This year’s edition took place at Trotter Family YMCA with Houston Olympians & Paralympians from the local chapter of the Olympic & Paralympic Association teaching close to 200 children how to play various sports. The day included multiple sports sessions, athlete appearances, lunch, autographs, and an Olympian & Paralympian Q&A session. A special thank you to Trotter Family YMCA, DICK’S Sporting Goods, and HEB for helping make the 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Day a memorable event!
Soccer fans filled Discovery Green on Sunday, June 30, for a jam-packed day full of family-friendly fun. The day started with over 180 young athletes participating in a Youth Soccer Clinic coached by Dynamo & Dash coaching staff. Participants tested out their skills while growing their love of the game! Later in the day the official Watch Party kicked off with an array of games, inflatables, and food options. The highlight of the evening was the highly anticipated Copa America match between Mexico and Ecuador.

Stadium. Matches included Mexico vs. Jamaica on June 22, Colombia vs. Paraguay on between Argentina vs. Ecuador on July 4. Dedicated fans gathered for exciting tailgates favorite teams. These tournaments served as a testament to the city’s passion for Cup 2026™.
Houston was selected as a host city for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. It will be the first time Houston will host the prestigious international baseball event.
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ is two years away! Event officials provided the city with a planning and preparational update in the lead-up to 2026.
