Shabbat with Houston Hillel
Shabbat takes place every Friday night at Houston Hillel, on campus and around the community. Shabbat takes many forms, including grabbing Shabags (Shabbat bags with everything for making Shabbat with your friends), picnic Shabbat dinners, and virtual gatherings for welcoming Shabbat with candles, juice and challah. During these uncertain times Houston Hillel removes barriers to participation by reimbursing students for Uber or Lyft rides to pick up their Shabags. Also, Shabbat is always free and we never ask for a RSVP. Houston Hillel’s Shabbat dinners are sponsored by Elton and Janet Lipnick, David and Kathy Lipnick, and Amy and Myles Kelman in memory of Paul and Fannie Lipnick. The Lipnick/Kelman families have generously sponsored Houston Hillel’s Shabbat dinners in Paul and Fannie Lipnick’s memory each year since 2009.
