In the summer of 2020, I welcomed my first grandbaby into the family. It was a crazy time to say the least, but illustrated how life continues on even when the world is turning inside out! From that moment on, my views on parenting have shifted slightly. While I still have a teenager at home, and we are still navigating daily life, my outlook on raising a family has shifted ever so slightly.

I now find myself stepping back more and looking at the bigger picture. Finding the joy in the small moments and not letting the day to day grind get to me. I believe, like most moms out there, the pandemic definitely had an impact on us. Whether it was the forced time with the family at home. The realization that ife really is that short or the opportunity for some of us to look at new or non career paths. We all felt a shift.

And really, it’s that constant shift that IS parenting. Just when you think you have it figured out, things change. This is why publications like Houston BABY and Houston Family have been around and continue to be of interest. We are constantly in need of knowledge, support and just community. Knowing that we are all on this crazy ride together offers comfort and makes the ride a little more FUN.
