WHAT IS THE ANNUAL FUND?

WHAT DO ANNUAL FUND DONATIONS SUPPORT?

The Many Gifts, One Vision Annual Fund is a yearly fundraising campaign to provide unrestricted support to help HC meet its overall operating budget and provide funds for special projects and enhancements as determined by the school principal and Head of School.

Annual fund donations support academic programs, athletics, fine arts, library, technology, and financial aid. Funds received over the budget allocation are used for special programs and campus enhancements.

Last year, these items included Smart Boards, document cameras, science equipment, musical instruments, and updates to the girls locker room and academic counseling suite. Enhancements this year are designated for more Smart Boards and document cameras, athletic training equipment, sculpting and pottery tools, lighting and sound equipment, and campus improvements. A successful annual fund campaign helps to keep tuition costs down.

WHO PARTICIPATES? The annual fund campaign is led by more than 80 volunteers. Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, friends of the school, foundations and businesses are all asked to participate.

WHAT IS THE GOAL FOR THE ANNUAL FUND? Our 2011-2012 goals are to raise $450,000 and achieve 100% parent participation.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT THE ANNUAL FUND? Because nothing is more important to the daily operations of Houston Christian than this type of unrestricted support. HC is an independent private school and does not receive funding from churches or public support from taxes. Tuition covers about 90% of the expenses of the school.

Also, high participation in the annual fund campaign reflects a strong school community. Businesses and foundations look for high participation when determining their potential support.

throughout the capital campaign. Regular, faithful giving to the annual fund is essential to ensure the excellent education families expect HC to provide for their children.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE? Your gift is a personal decision for your family. We hope you will make HC a priority for your giving each year. Prayerfully consider your level of giving and make the best gift as God would lead you — every contribution is greatly appreciated. All donors are recognized in the Annual Giving Report, and donors who give $1,000 or more are invited to a Leadership Donor event.
