Communities where Housing Assistance worked on developing year-round housing and adding inventory last year
Happy summer!
As we officially close out our fiscal year, I’m filled with gratitude for everything we’ve accomplished at Housing Assistance, thanks to you. Your support has fueled real change for our neighbors, and I hope you know how essential you are to this progress.
Because of you, more than 6,500 of our neighbors received the help they needed this year. Whether through shelter, housing support, or critical services, your generosity has provided stability, hope, and opportunity for individuals and families across Cape Cod and the Islands.
Here are just a few milestones we’ve achieved together this year:
Family Empowerment Center
With your support, we expanded shelter and services for families in need by consolidating three shelters into one welcoming Family Empowerment Center in Dennis. This new space serves up to 79 families and offers greater access to transformative education and resources. Meanwhile, the former shelter buildings are being transformed into permanent, year-round housing for homeless individuals and youth, alongside new offices for our Homeless Outreach and Youth and Young Adult teams.
New Regional Resource Center
Your generosity made possible our move to a new headquarters in Hyannis, giving our 120-person team an improved workspace to more effectively deliver Education and Housing Counseling programs, services, and administrative support to our community.
Capital Campaign
Thanks to your support, we’re nearing the finish line of our $5 million capital campaign that launched in November 2023, with 98% of our goal achieved. This effort is fueling the creation of over 200 new affordable housing units, building on the nearly 600 homes we’ve already developed. As one of the region’s largest affordable housing developers, we remain committed to advocating for innovative solutions that expand year-round housing opportunities for our community.
Our team is known for creative thinking and urgent action. Each of these efforts is expanding housing in concrete ways, but none of it would be possible without the support of people like you. Every home we build, every person we assist, and every step forward we take is powered by a shared belief that Cape Cod can be a place where year-round residents can build their lives with security and dignity.
Looking ahead, we invite you to continue being part of this momentum. Thank you for being an essential part of this journey. Your support is changing lives, strengthening our community, and building a better future for us all.
Wishing you a safe, healthy, and joyful rest of summer!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Alisa Magnotta CEO, Housing Assistance

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the strength of our community partnerships, we’ve helped more than 230,000 individuals find stability, security, and hope.
Shamim Morris, a resident of Cape View Way in Bourne and an employee of the Barnstable school system, spoke at the ribbon cutting of the 42-unit affordable housing development that opened in April 2025. She and her family searched for four years for an affordable home after her husband, a landscaper, lost both hands in an accident. She said, “When my family and I found out that we won this lottery, we felt hopeful again for our future.” The lottery received over 950 applications for the 42 available units.

Amber Mae Rivard began her journey as a mother at Housing Assistance’s Angel House shelter. There, she found recovery and credits the staff with teaching her how to be a mother. She continued on to complete school and graduated from Cape Cod Community College with honors. This summer, she was selected to purchase her first home through a Housing Assistance lottery.

Every effort has been made to ensure that donors from July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025 are accurately listed. Our apologies are extended to anyone whose name was inadvertently omitted, misspelled or inaccurate.
HOUSING LEGACY FUND
Leave a Lasting Legacy
Established in 2019 and currently overseen by Rockland Trust, the Housing Legacy Fund was created with an ambitious goal: to raise $1 million by our 50th anniversary in 2024. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of our community, we exceeded that milestone in just three years. Today, nearly $2 million has been invested in the fund—and it’s already making a difference.
Carefully managed for long-term growth, the Housing Legacy Fund ensures that Housing Assistance can continue to respond to our region’s evolving needs—especially during times of crisis, such as natural disasters, economic downturns, or public health emergencies.
You can help shape the future of housing on Cape Cod and the Islands. There are two meaningful ways to contribute to the Housing Legacy Fund:
• Make a tax-deductible gift today.
• Leave a planned gift—such as including Housing Assistance in your will, trust, or as a beneficiary of your retirement account or donor-advised fund.
Planned gifts are a powerful way to leave a legacy of compassion and stability for generations to come. To learn more about how you can make a lasting impact, contact us today.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN DONORS
To commemorate Housing Assistance’s 50th Anniversary, we launched the $5 million Preserving the American Dream capital campaign to support the development of nine affordable housing projects—creating 250 new homes for 575 Cape Codders. We are deeply grateful to our generous donors for making this vision a reality.
