HGO was the only American company to be named a finalist for Opera Company of the Year in the 2025 International Opera Awards—and the only American company to be nominated for the award three times!
“This nomination not only reflects Houston’s place on the global opera map," Khori Dastoor told Click2Houston, "but it’s also a testament to the extraordinary artists, administrators, board members, and supporters who make this work possible.”
While the award ultimately went to Vienna’s Theater an der Wien, HGO was proud to be acknowledged on the world stage, and to shine a light on Houston as one of America’s great cultural centers.
