Red Tails is a 2012 war film produced by Lucasfilm and released by 20th Century Fox. The Tuskegee Airmen is the popular name of a group of

African American pilots who fought in World War II. Formally, they formed the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American military aviators in the United States armed forces. During World War II, African Americans in many U.S. states still were subject to the Jim Crow laws. The American military was racially segregated, as was much of the federal government.

The Tuskegee Airmen were subjected to racial discrimination, both within and outside the army.

Despite these adversities, they trained and flew with distinction.

Primarily made up of African Americans, there were also five Tuskegee Airmen of Haitian descent.

Although the 477th Bombardment Group "worked up" on North American B-25 Mitchell bombers, they never served in combat; the Tuskegee 332nd Fighter Group was the only operational unit, first sent overseas as part of Operation Torch, then seeing action in Sicily and Italy, before being deployed as bomber escorts in Europe, where they were particularly successful in virtually all their missions.

WINDS OF CHANGE ARE COMING WITH AMY LITTER

“ Leaders are not born, they are made. A leader learns how to serve before lifting a finger.” Amy Litter.

Everyone knows her smile. Her sweet disposition and her passion for life.

Her voice is enhanced with a soft, rare Brazilian accent that does not distort her words but gives tribute to the lovely sounds of Copacabana and Ipanema. A fully engaging personality, and light eyes that gleam with a passion and a rhythmic, fresh attitude towards the Brazilian/American community. Of course, I am talking about the incomparable Amy Litter.

Amy Litter was born (20 years ago lol) in Rio De Janeiro and lived in Copacabana. Her father was an officer in the Air force, and so her family traveled a lot. As she was growing up, she experienced many different cultures and influences because of her experiences in many different areas. In fact, her father “forced English down her throat” as he was a big fan of the United States having lived here and trained many American and Brazilian pilots. He understood the importance of the language. Even giving her an American name. “Amy is not a typical Brazilian name”, she told me with a laugh.

Growing up, Amy was intricately involved in the birth of BOSSA NOVA as she would go to friend’s houses who would bring over guitars and drums and play the enticing sounds used by the greats like Antonio Carlos Jobim, recently honored at the Grammys with a lifetime achievement award.

She attended elementary, middle, and high school in the public school system.

As she was growing up, Amy wanted to realize her own dreams and desires.

She was not cut from the same mold, and wanted things other women at the time simply did not do.

She decided to attend a private college and in five years became a lawyer.

This was against her father’s immediate wishes, but this “cut across the grain” mentality is one that has strengthened her over the years. She served as a lawyer and a public defender. Amy still has a brother in Rio, a successful entrepreneur and a son-in-law. Her daughter is a bio-chemist and works with a company called Bio-safe that regulates food products and ensures safety. Obviously, good genes in the family.

It’s important to understand how proud Amy is of the Brazilian culture and of her upbringing because it really serves as a guidepost for her everyday life. She has been very successful in the United States, even spear-heading a television show on Channel 65 that retrieved fantastic ratings despite a tough time slot. Her business acumen and her presence in the community all played significant roles in her recently being elected the Central Florida Brazilian Chamber of Commerce President.

When I went to interview Amy, I wanted to discover what the “real” Amy Litter was about.

I wanted to understand her passion, her energy, and her vulnerability tha the fortitude she has developed (In her twenty years of life…;-) is really w ty.

Personally, Amy has had to endure tremendous pain with the passing cumstances surrounding his death, I could feel the suffering and the emoti very close to all of her family as she showed me several pictures around he force someone never to return to their feet…Not Amy. She got back on he

Amy’s current husband Jim is a splitting image of her and they act lik where they talked for over 5 hours straight. A fun, appreciative gentlema get her to partake in his love of candy, and she is trying to get him to go to their lives together. Oh, and you must try Jim’s tea.

The point is this. Amy Litter is someone who has experienced many t translate her life experiences into a benefit for the Brazilian community as ber of Commerce. She is not interested in politics, stature, cliques, or any done that. She wants to “Lead by serving the Brazilian community.”

As the President, Amy realizes there will be challenges to push new p things happening in Brazil right now contributing to their economic succe ters sing, but transforming the way Brazilians are perceived.

KRISPIES TREATS DECORADOS Voce vai precisar de : * rice krispies treats sheet (encontra-se em lojas especializadas em bolos ) *chocolate para cobertura branco ou chocolate escuro *sprinkles coloridos, branco, preto (de acordo com o tema) *imagem em papel comestivel (pode ser feita em alguns publix ou loja especializada em bolo) * cortadores de bolachas *saco de celofane *palitos *fitas Modo de fazer *Corte o krispies treats usando o cortador desejado *derreta o chocolate *passe o rice crispie( ja com o palito) no chocolate retirando o ecesso com cuidado. * coloque a imagem comestivel com o chocolate ainda mole * em seguida passe nos sprinkles *espere o chocolate endurecer *embale no saquinho terminando com um laco *Se preferir omitir a imagem comestivel,passe apenas no chocolate e nos sprinkles.

DECORATED Krispies Treats You will need: * Rice krispies treats sheet (found in stores specializing in cakes) * White chocolate or dark chocolate the kind we use to confection * sprinkles colored, white, black (according to the theme) * edible image on paper (can be done in some Publix or a store that specializes in cake) * Biscuit cutters cellophane bag * * lollypop sticks * tapes Preparation * Cut the krispies treats using desired cutter * Melt chocolate * Apply chocolate to crispie treat (already with the sticks inserted)and remove excess carefully. * Place the image with edible chocolate still soft * Then roll in sprinkles * wait for the chocolate to harden * pack in the bag finishing with a tie * If you wish to omit the image edible, just pass in chocolate and sprinkles.

Easy and practical to do! The kids love to eat and it is a lot of fun to have them participating in the preparation. They can also be served as souvenirs for birthdays and are beautiful to adorn the tables of goodies.

Recently the Seminole County Healthy Start Coalition held their Community Gala at the Oakmonte Village in Lake Mary. The purpose of this event was to let the local community know that the Coalition is back and ready to help in Seminole County.

The mission of the Coalition is to establish a system of care that guarantees all families access to prenatal care and all infants access to

services that promote optimal growth and development.

We want the chance to have all expectant Seminole County families and their children will have access to services to promote optimal health and well being.

If You are Pregnant Pregnant women who get influenza vaccine pass their immunity to their babies in the form of flu antibodies. This protection lasts for several months after birth. Influenza protection was seen in newborns up to four months old. Babies born to women who were not vaccinated during pregnancy showed no antibody

protection. The number of pregnant women receiving influenza vaccine has increased dramatically in the last couple of years in large part due to a national effort to vaccinate against the 2009 H1N1 pandemic influenza during the 2010-11 influenza season.
