Abu Dhabi City District Considered to be one of the richest cities in the world, Abu Dhabi is a cosmopolitan metropolis and a major cultural and commercial centre due to its position as the capital. The city offers a strikingly contrasting landscape, from sandy beaches and skyscrapers to rolling desert dunes. Joined to the mainland by the Maqta and Mussafah bridges, some of the key suburbs in the city include Khalifa, Electra, Hamdan, Mussafah (residential and industrial) and the beautiful waterfront Corniche. The emirate also consists of the eastern oasis of Al Ain, better known as the Green City. Mussafah Industrial District One of primary industrial areas of Abu Dhabi, this district is home to several manufacturing plants including steel mills and other heavy industries. Plans to construct a channel that will improve access to this industrial zone are underway.
