Luxury Living and Exclusive Lifestyle

Editor’s Note
This month, HOT Magazine packed a suitcase, checked its pulse, polished the jewellery box, and quietly asked whether luxury might be getting smarter.
We begin with wellness, which has moved far beyond the old spa-weekend formula of a robe, a massage, and a cucumber slice doing unpaid labour in your water glass. Today’s luxury traveller wants more than pampering. They want sleep rituals, breathwork, nutrition, meditation, longevity programmes, family connection, cultural immersion, and ideally to return home looking serene enough to make their group chat suspicious.
Across the world’s leading resorts, wellbeing is no longer an amenity tucked beside the pool. It is shaping architecture, cuisine, room design, guest experiences and the entire reason people choose where to travel. From Bali’s healing ceremonies to Maldivian underwater spas and urban sanctuaries in Singapore, the new luxury is not simply feeling better. It is knowing yourself well enough to book accordingly.
On board, French refinement, serene suites, restaurants, a spa and scientific laboratories meet serious polar capability. Off board, guests encounter Inuit communities, dog sled journeys, ice fishing, snowshoeing, scientific camps and Arctic silence of the kind that makes your phone feel ridiculous. This is luxury as access, expertise and perspective, with a very exceptional ship making the impossible feel almost civilised.

From inner calm, we travel to the edge of the inhabited world, which is quite a commute, even by our standards. In northern Greenland, PONANT EXPLORATIONS and SEDNA are preparing two extraordinary 2027 voyages aboard Le Commandant Charcot, the only luxury cruise icebreaker in the world. That distinction matters. This is not a ship politely admiring the ice from a safe distance. It is a Polar Class 2 icebreaker built to move through it, carrying guests into frozen regions conventional luxury vessels simply cannot reach.
Then, because balance is important, we return to civilisation and put on something fabulous. Christie’s Hong Kong Luxury Week marks forty years since the auction house’s first sale in the city, and the celebration arrives with the subtlety of a diamond necklace under spotlights. The jewels alone are enough to make a collector sit up straighter: natural pearls, Kashmir sapphires, Colombian emeralds, signed Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels pieces, and magnificent jadeite, including the Ethereal Jadeite Necklace, linking the sale beautifully back to Christie’s 1986 Hong Kong debut. The handbags are hardly shy either, with more than 200 lots from Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, including limited edition Birkins and Kellys and a rare matte vert d’eau alligator Hermès piece with palladium hardware. Add blue-chip Burgundy, important timepieces and Patek Philippe complications, and the week becomes a love letter to Asian taste, connoisseurship and the enduring pleasure of beautiful things having their moment in the room.
Three stories. Three definitions of luxury. Restoration, rarity and refinement.
Enjoy the issue.

Thai Resident Escapes with 137 Pillars
137 Pillars Hotels & Resorts presents exclusive resident rates across its Chiang Mai sanctuary and Bangkok urban retreat.
137 Pillars Hotels & Resorts invites Thai nationals and Thailand-based expatriates to rediscover two of Thailand's most distinctive luxury addresses through exclusive Thai Resident Offers. Spanning the heritage calm of Chiang Mai and the contemporary energy of Bangkok, the promotion presents an elegant invitation to experience the brand's refined hospitality closer to home.
The 137 Pillars story began in Chiang Mai with the restoration of a colonial teak homestead dating back to the late 1800s, once home to the Borneo Trading Company. Today, 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai is an intimate 30-suite retreat set within lush tropical gardens near
the Old City, Wat Gate Temple and the Ping River, where old-world glamour is paired with serene resort living.
In Bangkok, 137 Pillars Suites & Residences offers a contrasting expression of the brand, placing guests in the heart of Sukhumvit with elevated skyline views, two infinity-edge pools and a residential sense of comfort. Suites and residences combine refined design with practical luxuries, while Nitra Serenity Centre, Nimitr Restaurant and Bangkok Trading Post add a restorative and social rhythm to the stay.
Resident rates at 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok start from THB 9,137 net per night for suites and THB 5,137 net per night for residences, while 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai starts from THB 13,137 net per night. Rates are valid until 30 September 2026 in Chiang Mai and until 23 December
2026 in Bangkok. For HOT readers, the offer brings together two highly different expressions of Thai luxury: a soulful northern hideaway with heritage at its heart, and a polished capital retreat shaped by skyline views, space and privacy. It is a graceful invitation to travel domestically with a sense of occasion. For more information, contact stay@137pillarsbangkok.com, stay@137pillarshouse.com or marcomm@137pillarshotels.com. The dual-city offer is especially appealing for travellers who enjoy contrast: a quiet cultural retreat in the north, followed by a sophisticated urban stay in Bangkok. For residents seeking a domestic escape with character, both properties offer a distinct expression of place, privacy and refined Thai hospitality.

Burgundy Meets Wagyu at Akira Back Bangkok
Akira Back Bangkok presents a one-night dining experience pairing Kagoshima A5 wagyu with prestigious Burgundy wines.
Akira Back Bangkok, the Japanese and Korean dining destination on the 37th floor of Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, introduces a refined epicurean evening with its Beef & Burgundy Soiree. Taking place on 28 May 2026, the one-night event brings together premium Japanese beef, expressive contemporary cuisine and a curated selection from Burgundy's historic Maison Edouard Delaunay.
The six-course menu has been designed to showcase Akira Back's signature balance of creativity and precision. The evening begins with wagyu pizza, a luxurious interpretation of one of the restaurant's most recognisable dishes, followed by beef tartare with pear,
brioche and garlic chips. Each course is paired with distinguished Burgundy labels, including Premier Cru and Grand Cru selections chosen to highlight the region's depth and character.
Land and sea come together through dishes such as Maine lobster with nori butter, rayu powder and crispy negi, black cod with sauteed spinach and yuzu beurre blanc, and the evening's centerpiece, Kagoshima A5 striploin with AB mashed potato, white asparagus and black garlic jus. Dessert closes the journey with banana, vanilla cream cheese mousse, banana caramel and Makgeolli ice cream.
Maison Edouard Delaunay, established in 1893 and revived by Laurent Delaunay, adds heritage and pedigree to the occasion. For Bangkok diners, the evening offers the pleasure of a true destination dinner: skyline views,
rare wines, premium wagyu and the energetic culinary identity that has made Akira Back one of the city's most recognisable Japanese-Korean dining names. Quite beautifully so.

YTSB - Yellow Tail Sushi Bar Presents a Refined Summer Omakase
YTSB - Yellow Tail Sushi Bar welcomes the arrival of summer with a specially curated Summer Omakase, an elegant seasonal journey inspired by the refreshing flavours, traditions, and delicate culinary rhythms of Japan’s warmer months.
Available from 1 June to 31 August 2026, the Summer Omakase has been designed to offer guests a more expansive interpretation of the omakase experience, moving beyond sushi alone to embrace a variety of Japanese cooking techniques. Grilled, fried, chilled, seared, and delicately prepared dishes come together in a menu that feels both balanced and expressive, reflecting the lighter, cleaner flavours often associated with summer dining in Japan.
Crafted by YTSB’s skilled sushi chefs, the menu highlights seasonal ingredients, refined presentation, and the quiet precision of Japanese craftsmanship. Each course has been thoughtfully composed to create a progression that is refreshing, satisfying, and deeply attuned to the season.
The experience begins with a Seasonal Appetizer Selection, featuring Amaebi Amasu Ponsu, Tuna Tataki, and Tuna Crispy Fries. Presented with
artistic detail, the opening course introduces a considered balance of raw and cooked preparations, setting the tone for the culinary journey to follow.
A refreshing interpretation of a beloved Japanese summer dish, Rei Shabu features lightly cooked chilled meat served with fresh vegetables and a choice of flavourful dipping sauces such as ponzu, sesame, or shiso. Clean, cooling, and delicately layered, it offers a graceful expression of warm-weather dining.
The menu continues with Zaru Somen, a classic chilled noodle dish enjoyed throughout Japan during the summer months. Light and refreshing, it is served with carefully selected toppings to create a cooling sensation, especially well suited to Thailand’s tropical season.
A highlight of the menu is Ayu Tempura, prepared with whole Ayu fish, known in Japan as the “Queen of the Clear River” for its association with pristine waters. Lightly battered and fried until crisp while remaining tender and naturally sweet within, the fish is served with kombu salt, capturing the purity and delicacy of early summer Japanese cuisine.
Adding depth and warmth to the experience, Kushiyaki brings the inviting aromas of Japanese charcoal grilling to the table. Skewered meats, seafood, and vegetables are grilled over premium charcoal and finished with the chef’s special sauce, creating a rich, smoky counterpoint to the menu’s cooler seasonal expressions.
The journey reaches a luxurious crescendo with Black Bean Wagyu A5, known in Japan as Kuromame Wagyu. Raised on Japanese black beans rather than traditional grain feed, the beef is prized for its distinctive aroma, enhanced umami, and refined texture. Carefully seared with butter, salt, black pepper, and thyme, the A5 Wagyu is served with seasonal vegetables, allowing its richness to unfold with elegance and restraint.
The Summer Omakase is available for lunch at 12.00 hrs. and for dinner at 18.00 hrs. and 20.00 hrs.
YTSB - Yellow Tail Sushi Bar is located on the 4th floor of the YTSB Building, in front of VIE Hotel Bangkok - MGallery Collection, with convenient access from BTS Ratchathewi Exit 2.

With just 28 private pool villas, V Villas Hua Hin offers an atmosphere that is intimate rather than expansive, personal rather than conventional. Each villa is designed as a private sanctuary, complete with generous living spaces, elegant interiors, outdoor terraces, and individual swimming pools. From romantic one-bedroom retreats to the impressive Presidential Beachfront Pool Villa, the experience is defined by space, serenity, and quiet sophistication.
Architecture and design play an essential role in the resort’s identity. Inspired by Thai rice terraces and European villa living, the property blends Asian calm with a graceful cosmopolitan sensibility. The result is a setting that feels beautifully composed, where water, greenery, sunlight, and sea breezes form part of the daily rhythm.
Service, however, is where V Villas Hua Hin truly distinguishes itself. The resort’s 24-hour butler service brings a seamless level of attention to every stay, whether arranging a private dinner, preparing an in-villa breakfast, or anticipating the small details that transform a holiday into something memorable.

Dining is equally central to the experience. Villazzo Ocean House presents elegant beachfront dining with a focus on refined cuisine, local ingredients, and views across the Gulf of Thailand, while Akoya Beach Lounge adds a contemporary seaside energy with crafted cocktails and a striking design language. For quieter indulgence, V Spa offers restorative treatments that complete the resort’s sense of escape.
Winning the 2026 Signature Award for Best Ultra Luxury Hotel Hua Hin affirms what guests have known for years: V Villas Hua Hin is not simply a place to stay, but a complete expression of coastal luxury. Private, polished, and deeply attuned to the pleasures of refined travel, it remains one of Hua Hin’s most exceptional addresses.

The Inner Circle
Bangkok’s private members’ clubs are no longer simply symbols of social standing — they are becoming the city’s most compelling luxury destinations in their own right.

There is a particular kind of luxury that announces itself quietly. No lobby thronging with guests, no queue at the bar, no obligation to share a view with strangers. Bangkok has always understood exclusivity, but the city’s private members’ clubs are now redefining what that word means — and the results are exceptional.
For much of the twentieth century, the blueprint was straightforward. The Royal Bangkok Sports Club, founded in 1901, and the British Club Bangkok, established two years later, shaped the city’s idea of elite membership around sport, dining, and a certain formalised social connection. Belonging was the point. The institutions themselves almost secondary to what they represented.
That older model still carries weight — it established the language of exclusivity that Bangkok continues to speak. But the newest generation of private clubs is composing an entirely different sentence. Rather than leaning on tradition alone, they are selling atmosphere, personal taste, and a level of hospitality that rivals the city’s finest five-star hotels. In many respects, they have become private sanctuaries for people who want all the advantages of ultra-luxury accommodation, layered with the added intimacy that only membership can provide.

Pacific City Club
The Bangkok Club, positioned high above Sathorn with skyline views that few properties can rival, is a persuasive example of this evolution. It combines business-ready facilities with refined dining and wellness amenities in a setting that feels both polished and deeply practical. The underlying philosophy — that a club should allow its members to meet, dine, exercise, and unwind without ever needing to leave — is central to how modern membership spaces are being conceived and delivered.
Pacific City Club follows a similar path, its emphasis on elegant surroundings and an environment suited equally to leisure and professional life marking it as something more than a social venue. These clubs are lifestyle platforms. Members arrive seeking calm, privacy, and the reassurance that every detail — from the service cadence to the materiality of the rooms — has been considered in advance and found worthy.
Soho House Bangkok demonstrates how global design thinking has reshaped the category. Where traditional clubs once cultivated old-fashioned exclusivity, Soho House offers a more contemporary members’ experience — restaurants, bars, a pool, curated events, and an atmosphere that is more relaxed in register without being any less considered. The underlying promise remains unchanged: access to a world that feels genuinely rare, emotionally comfortable, and socially valuable.

SOHO Bangkok
SOHO Bangkok

The next phase of Bangkok’s club scene may prove even more compelling. Eden Country Club represents a move toward large-scale private lifestyle living, with sports, wellness, dining, and family-oriented amenities converging in a single expansive environment. It is not a clubhouse in the conventional sense; it is a destination. That distinction matters, because it reflects a broader shift in what affluent members now expect. A club, increasingly, should deliver a full-day experience — and on the best occasions, something closer to a full life.
Eden’s particular appeal lies in its synthesis of privacy and recreation. In a city where most luxury spaces are vertical, dense, and emphatically urban, a country club model offers something that has become genuinely scarce: breathing room. It creates a sense of retreat while still delivering the social and hospitality cues that members require. That combination of space, curated service, and controlled access is precisely what modern luxury consumers are searching for.
The Consul pushes the idea further into culture and entertainment. Designed as a social and cultural house rather than a dining club alone, it integrates private dining rooms, whisky and mixology bars, cigar lounges, and music-led spaces into a layered identity. A member might arrive for dinner and find, several hours later, that they have moved through an entire evening without retracing a step. That kind of seamless progression is a hallmark of exceptional hospitality thinking.
In this context, cigar lounges and whisky rooms deserve particular attention. In Bangkok’s emerging private club culture, these spaces are not secondary amenities. They are defining features. A great cigar lounge or rare-whisky room signals time, taste, and discretion — it creates a slower, more contemplative rhythm inside a city that rarely pauses. For members who have experienced the best of everything, the ability to linger in an atmosphere that feels adult, refined, and entirely private is its own form of luxury.

Eden Country Club
The Aman philosophy adds another dimension to the conversation. Built on a global reputation for quiet, ultra-personal hospitality, the Aman approach — as it extends into private membership models — is not designed to be visible. It is meant to feel seamless, intimate, and almost invisible. The emphasis falls on calm service, spaces of exceptional elegance, and the feeling of being looked after without being watched. That sensibility is powerful precisely because it reflects a deeper change in what the most discerning guests want. The new status symbol is not access to a famous name. It is access to a space that feels tailored, discreet, and genuinely attentive.
Bangkok has always been a city that understands refinement. But today, that refinement is being expressed through new architectures of experience. The modern private club is no longer only a symbol of social position. It is a place where luxury is lived quietly — through service, atmosphere, and carefully designed moments that make members feel both recognised and insulated from the pace of the city beyond the door.

Pacific City Club

Taken together, these clubs signal that Bangkok’s private membership market has entered a genuinely interesting new chapter. Heritage, business convenience, creative culture, wellness, and hotel-level hospitality are all finding expression within the same evolving category. For those who move through Bangkok’s highest echelons, the question is no longer simply which club to join. It is which world to disappear into.

The New Luxury of Wellness
Wellness travel has moved far beyond the traditional spa weekend. For today's affluent traveller, it is no longer enough for a resort to offer a handsome treatment menu, a serene pool and a yoga mat in the room. The new language of luxury wellness is more intentional, more personal and considerably more sophisticated, shaped by longevity, mindfulness, family connection, cultural immersion and the desire to return home not merely rested, but restored.

Across the world's leading hotels and resorts, wellness is becoming a defining marker of modern hospitality. It is influencing architecture, guest programming, culinary direction, room design and even the way a journey begins from the moment of arrival. The finest properties now understand that the pursuit of wellbeing is not an indulgent add-on, but an essential part of how discerning guests choose where, how and why they travel.
Recent travel intelligence reports underline this shift. Affluent travellers increasingly view wellbeing as central to their booking decisions, with many now seeking dedicated wellness holidays of four to eight nights. Spas, massages and physical therapies remain deeply popular, but they are now part of a broader ecosystem that can include sleep rituals, nutrition programmes, forest immersion, meditation, breathwork, sound healing, movement, medical expertise and culturally rooted ceremonies.
In essence, wellness has become one of luxury travel's most meaningful new status symbols - not as a display of excess, but as an expression of self-knowledge, discipline and refined taste.
A More Holistic Journey
At the heart of the movement is a simple truth: guests are living longer, travelling more often and expecting their routines to move with them. The best resorts are responding with programmes that care for the whole person, blending rest, physical vitality, emotional balance and a deeper sense of place.
In Ubud, Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, offers its Disconnect to Reconnect programme, inviting guests to step away from external distractions and return to a quieter inner rhythm. The experience brings together breathwork, vibrational sound therapy, meditation, healing rituals and creative encounters, all framed by the spiritual traditions and natural beauty of Bali. Ceremonies such as Balinese fire blessing and water cleansing rituals give the journey a strong sense of destination, transforming wellness from a private pursuit into a cultural encounter.

Grand Hyatt Singapore

This philosophy also shapes Marriott International's Luxury Wellbeing Series, introduced across Mandapa, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands and The St. Regis Goa Resort. Built around sleep, nutrition, physical wellbeing and mental wellbeing, the series reflects a wider transformation within luxury hospitality: the idea that a hotel stay can become a carefully composed journey of renewal.
At The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, wellness is expressed through both setting and sensation. The resort's ring-shaped spa sits over a turquoise lagoon, removed from the livelier pulse of the island and surrounded by the quiet drama of water and sky. Here, treatments are not simply delivered; they are staged within an atmosphere of seclusion, design and sensory calm.
Ubud Mandapa, a Ritz Carlton Reserve
Design as a Form of Wellbeing
Increasingly, wellness begins before the first treatment. Architecture, landscape and spatial design are being used to settle the mind and shape the guest's emotional experience.
At InterContinental Halong Bay Resort, the Hidden Lagoon spa draws inspiration from the mythology and natural grandeur of Halong Bay. Guests move through lush greenery and sculptural limestone forms before entering treatment rooms designed to evoke the stillness of a hidden sanctuary. In the Maldives, Huvafen Fushi remains distinctive for its underwater spa, where reef views create an almost dreamlike intimacy with the ocean.
Urban hotels are also embracing the therapeutic value of nature. Grand Hyatt Singapore's Damai Spa and surrounding gardens create a forest-bathing-inspired arrival within the city. Designed with the help of Grant Associates, known for Singapore's Gardens by the Bay, the landscape combines lush planting, sensory pathways and biodiversity-focused details to turn an urban hotel into a place of restorative pause.
This integration of wellness into the fabric of hotel design is becoming increasingly important. Luxury wellness is no longer limited to specialist retreat destinations. It is appearing in city hotels, island resorts, railway carriages, cruise ships and family escapes, creating a more fluid relationship between travel, health and lifestyle.

Longevity, Expertise and the Rise of the Curated Retreat
As global populations live longer and remain active for more years, longevity has become a powerful theme in luxury travel. Small Luxury Hotels of the World has responded with its Wellbeing Collection, a curated selection of properties recognised for treating wellness as a complete way of life rather than a passing trend.
The most compelling retreats now combine expert guidance with exceptional settings. They offer not only moments of pleasure, but practical knowledge that guests can carry home: better sleep habits, improved breathing, sustainable nutrition, emotional balance and more conscious daily rituals. Sophrology, a European practice combining breathwork, visualisation, gentle movement and meditation, is one example of the more specialised disciplines finding their place in the luxury wellness landscape.
This rise of expertise is also making wellness more inclusive. As mature travellers continue to explore the world, hospitality groups are paying closer attention to accessibility, comfort and ease. Ramps, grab bars, brighter lighting and more considered room design are no longer simply practical details. In a truly refined hotel, they are part of gracious hospitality.
Wellness for the Whole Family
One of the most appealing developments in wellness travel is its movement beyond the individual. Increasingly, guests are choosing to share restorative experiences with children, parents and extended family. The modern wellness holiday can now be multigenerational, combining private renewal with shared discovery.
At Pan Pacific London's Sensory Spa & Wellness, treatments have been curated for both parents and children, using skincare suited to younger skin. In Thailand, JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa brings families closer to nature through its Unlimited by Nature - JW Family Wellness Journey, which may include conservation activities, pipa palm planting, buffalo bathing, cooking classes and sustainable dining.
Hyatt properties across Asia Pacific are also enriching family wellness through learning-led experiences, from marine biology and nature play to group hikes, clean-eating workshops and turtle sanctuary programmes. These experiences reflect a valuable shift: wellbeing is not only about solitude and stillness. It can also be found in connection, curiosity and the joy of discovering the world together.

Cultural Immersion as Emotional Renewal
For high-net-worth travellers, particularly those who return often to favourite destinations, wellness is becoming more imaginative and more bespoke. In Japan, luxury travel specialist Naomi Mano of Luxurique has observed that experienced travellers are seeking deeper forms of engagement. Rather than simply meditating in a beautiful setting, they may wish to learn Zen cuisine, explore bushido principles, practise martial arts or spend time with a master craftsperson.
These experiences speak to a more refined understanding of wellbeing. Mental and emotional renewal may come through discipline, learning, craftsmanship and cultural respect. For the most sophisticated travellers, wellness is not a pause from life, but a more attentive way of entering it.
Wellness in Motion
The wellness journey is no longer fixed to a single destination. It now moves elegantly across continents and oceans.
On the Eastern & Oriental Express, guests travelling from Singapore through Malaysia can visit Asia's first Dior Spa on rails, housed in a dedicated carriage dressed in Art Deco elegance and Dior's signature Toile de Jouy. The result is a graceful meeting of slow travel, beauty and ritual.
At sea, Silversea's Otium Spa brings the Roman ideal of cultivated leisure to ships including Silver Endeavour, Silver Ray, Silver Nova and Silver Dawn. With warm oil massages, revitalising facials, ancient-inspired therapies and sweeping ocean views from the bow, Otium Spa positions wellness as an essential pleasure of the voyage rather than a diversion from it.
The message is clear. Whether in a Balinese river valley, a Maldivian lagoon, a Singapore garden, a Japanese dojo, a private train carriage or a spa at sea, wellness has become one of the defining luxuries of our time. For the world's most discerning travellers, the finest holidays now offer more than escape. They offer clarity, vitality and the rare privilege of returning to oneself.

At The Edge Of The Inhabited World

There are ships that carry guests across the sea, and then there are ships that change what the sea makes possible. Le Commandant Charcot belongs firmly in the second category. As the only luxury cruise icebreaker in the world, she is not merely a vessel but a passport to places that remain beyond the reach of conventional expedition cruising.
In the far north of Greenland, where the ocean becomes a shifting architecture of ice and the horizon seems to belong more to myth than geography, that distinction matters. Here, luxury is not simply found in refined service, elegant suites or exceptional cuisine. It is found in access, capability and the rare privilege of entering a world that few travellers will ever see with their own eyes.
For spring 2027, PONANT EXPLORATIONS and SEDNA are deepening that idea with two extraordinary High Arctic voyages aboard Le Commandant Charcot. Following the success of their first Greenland collaboration in 2025, the companies will offer guests an intimate encounter with Inuit life, Arctic wilderness and one of the planet’s most remote regions.
The partnership is a natural fit. PONANT EXPLORATIONS has spent more than 35 years shaping purposeful voyages aboard intimate French-flagged ships, building a reputation for refined expedition travel that brings guests close to nature and ancestral cultures without abandoning elegance. SEDNA, founded by polar explorer Nicolas Dubreuil, approaches exploration through a deeply human lens, working closely with local communities and scientists to place knowledge, respect and authenticity at the centre of each journey.

At the heart of both itineraries is Le Commandant Charcot herself. Carrying up to 245 guests in 123 staterooms and suites, with a crew of 215, she combines the intimacy of a small ship with the extraordinary capability of a Polar Class 2 icebreaker. Her hybrid electric and liquefied natural gas propulsion, scientific laboratories, spa, restaurants and serene contemporary interiors create a rare balance: the power to navigate deep into ice-covered waters, and the comfort to return from the elements into warmth, quiet and French refinement.
That combination is what makes these voyages so exceptional. Le Commandant Charcot can reach areas other luxury ships simply cannot, opening routes through frozen seascapes and polar environments that would otherwise remain inaccessible. Guests are not observing the Arctic from a comfortable distance. They are travelling into it aboard a ship designed for ice, science, exploration and elegance in equal measure.
In Greenland, the landscape is not a backdrop but a living presence. These journeys are designed not as simple sightseeing cruises, but as carefully considered immersions co-created with Inuit communities, particularly around Kullorsuaq. Guests may join dog sled journeys across the ice, watch traditional kayak demonstrations, try ice fishing, venture out on snowshoes or skis, and listen to stories passed down by hunters whose knowledge of the land and sea has been shaped over generations.

Some experiences will become even more personal. By advance booking and at additional cost, guests may have the opportunity to spend a night in a traditional Inuit tent on the sacred site of Nunanutaat, reached after travelling by dog sled through the polar wilderness. Others may sleep in an expedition tent at a scientific camp on the pack ice, alongside researchers working in marine biology, glaciology and climatology. These are not polished performances staged at a safe remove; they are invitations into a way of life defined by adaptation, resilience and a profound relationship with the natural world.
The first 2027 departure, “Encounter with the Last Guardians of the North Pole,” sails round-trip from Nuuk from 4 to 16 April. The 13-day voyage explores north-western Greenland, including Disko Bay, Baffin Bay and Kullorsuaq, with fares from THB 635,000 per person. Created in partnership with SEDNA, it places particular emphasis on cultural exchange, traditional knowledge and the daily life of Greenland’s polar hunters.
The second departure, “Beyond the Inhabited World,” follows from 16 to 28 April, also sailing Nuuk to Nuuk aboard Le Commandant Charcot. Offered in collaboration with SEDNA and The Explorers Club, it ventures farther into the High Arctic, including Kullorsuaq, Siorapaluk, the Nares Strait and the Pikialasorsuaq polynya, a vital Arctic ecosystem known as a place that does not freeze. Fares begin from THB 765,000 per person.
What distinguishes these voyages is not only where they go, but how they get there. In an era when luxury travel can too easily become a catalogue of excess, PONANT EXPLORATIONS and SEDNA are proposing something more thoughtful: the elegance of access earned through expertise, the pleasure of comfort tempered by humility, and the emotional weight of meeting communities on terms shaped by their own voices.

For the discerning traveller, Greenland’s spring ice offers more than spectacle. It offers perspective. Against the immense silence of Baffin Bay or the pale drama of a frozen coastline, the scale of human life changes. A dog team moving across the ice, a hunter’s story told in the evening, a scientific camp set beneath the Arctic sky: each moment becomes part of a larger understanding of place.
In that sense, Le Commandant Charcot is not simply transporting guests to the edge of the map. As the world’s only luxury cruise icebreaker, she is redefining what modern exploration can be: technically extraordinary, environmentally conscious, culturally sensitive and exquisitely comfortable. For those drawn to the world’s most remote horizons, these 2027 voyages promise something increasingly rare: a journey that could only happen aboard one ship in the world.

Christie's Luxury Week
Forty Years In The Making

Christie’s Hong Kong marks four decades of defining Asian taste with a landmark Luxury Week spanning fine wine, magnificent jewels, coveted timepieces and the most collectible handbags in the world.

There are auction weeks, and then there are moments that crystallise the culture of an era. Christie’s Hong Kong Luxury Week, running from 22 to 28 May 2026, belongs firmly in the second category. This year’s edition carries particular resonance: it marks forty years since Christie’s held its first auction in Hong Kong, a January 1986 sale of Chinese paintings and jadeite jewellery that closed with a total turnover exceeding HK$14 million and announced, with quiet confidence, a new chapter in the global art and luxury market. What began as a single auction catalogue has grown into one of the most anticipated luxury events on the Asian calendar – and the spring 2026 edition makes that journey impossible to ignore.

The week opens on 22 May with Iconic Wines from Joseph Lau Part V, the final instalment in the sale of a cellar that has become synonymous with blue-chip Burgundy and Bordeaux collecting. The centrepiece is 33 lots of Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanée Cros-Parantoux spanning the 1991 to 2001 vintages, a sequence that represents some of the most coveted bottles in the world of fine wine. Alongside them, Romanée-Conti and Montrachet from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, together with rare whites from Domaine d’Auvenay, complete a line-up that reads less like an auction catalogue and more like a collector’s private reverie. Lau, the Hong Kong property tycoon and legendary collector whose interests span Western art, Chinese antiquities, diamonds and wine, has become one of the defining presences in Christie’s Asian history. That this chapter closes in Hong Kong’s 40th anniversary year feels both fitting and elegiac.
Three days later, the focus turns to fashion. The Handbags and Accessories sale on 25 May presents more than 200 lots drawn from the ateliers of Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, with limited edition Birkins and Kellys commanding the upper echelons of the estimate range. Among the highlights is a rare matte vert d’eau alligator Hermès piece with palladium hardware – the kind of object that collectors describe not merely as a bag but as a wearable sculpture. In the years since Christie’s established a dedicated jewellery and accessories department in Hong Kong, the house has consistently demonstrated that the great leather goods of the 20th and 21st centuries deserve to be assessed by the same standards of rarity, craftsmanship and provenance applied to Old Master paintings. The 2026 sale continues that argument with conviction.
The following day belongs to jewellery. Magnificent Jewels on 26 May brings over 100 lots to the block, spanning natural pearls, Kashmir sapphires, Colombian emeralds and signed pieces by Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels. The headline lot is an extraordinary jadeite necklace – the Ethereal Jadeite Necklace – a stone that connects the sale back to the very first auction Christie’s held in Hong Kong four decades ago, when jadeite jewellery appeared alongside Chinese paintings and set the tone for everything that followed. The Heavenly Harmony jadeite bead and spinel necklace is among the additional highlights. Together, these pieces underscore the enduring hold that fine jadeite exerts on Asian collectors, a hold that forty years of market history has only deepened.

The week reaches its conclusion with two days of horology. The Important Watches sales on 27 and 28 May are anchored by the Kronos: Titans of Time private collection, alongside two further named consignments that span the most coveted names in contemporary watchmaking. Among the standout pieces is a platinum Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon ref. 5002P-001 – one of the most technically complex modern Pateks in existence, carrying twelve complications within a single case. A ruby and diamond-set Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 26334OR brings colour and drama to a sale otherwise defined by precision and restraint. For the collector who measures the world in complications and case diameter, this is a week of rare abundance.
The international dimension of Hong Kong Luxury Week 2026 is not lost on those who attended Christie’s earliest sales in the territory. Preview exhibitions have already taken place across Taipei, Bangkok, Geneva, Shanghai and Macau, a circuit that maps the extraordinary breadth of the Asian luxury audience and confirms Hong Kong’s enduring position as the region’s auction capital. Christie’s Asia Pacific headquarters remains one of the most significant trading floors for objects of beauty and rarity anywhere in the world, ranking alongside New York and London as a genuine centre of global connoisseurship.

Forty years is, in the life of an institution, both a long time and no time at all. What Christie’s has built in Hong Kong since that inaugural January sale in 1986 is something rather more difficult to quantify than turnover figures: a deep and intimate relationship with Asian taste, Asian collecting habits and the singular conviction – shared by the house and its clients alike – that beauty across all its forms deserves a room of its own. In 2026, that room is Hong Kong, and the week of 22 to 28 May represents the fullest possible expression of what four decades of shared passion can produce.

HUMMINGBIRD
A Sleek Expression Of Performance And Refined Escape

In the world of compact performance yachts, there is a particular pleasure in finding a vessel that balances pace, elegance, and genuine liveability. Phuket based HUMMINGBIRD, a 30.4-metre motor yacht built by Couach Yachts in France, offers precisely that balance. Delivered in 2007 and refreshed through significant works in 2020 and 2025, she presents as a polished, highly usable yacht for owners who value speed, comfort, and the freedom to move beautifully between destinations.

With her low, athletic profile and composite construction, HUMMINGBIRD carries the distinctive spirit of Couach: purposeful, streamlined, and designed for owners who want more than a static floating residence. Powered by twin MTU engines, she reaches a top speed of 32 knots and cruises comfortably at 25 knots, making her especially appealing for island-hopping itineraries across Asia. Whether moving between Phuket’s surrounding islands, exploring Indonesia’s remote anchorages, or planning longer passages through the region, HUMMINGBIRD is built for owners who prefer momentum with refinement.
Her exterior spaces are arranged for relaxed days in the sun. The flybridge is generously proportioned, with a large aft sunpad, open-air dining beneath a removable awning, a barbecue, icemaker, and forward helm position. On the main deck aft, a second alfresco dining area creates a more intimate setting close to the water, while the swim platform provides easy access to the sea and tender. Forward, sunpads and a Portuguese bridge offer a quieter place for sundowners, morning coffee, or simply watching the coastline unfold.
Inside, HUMMINGBIRD’s atmosphere is bright, contemporary, and quietly elegant. Large picture windows draw natural light into the main saloon, where light woods, cream leather seating, and a restrained palette create a calm sense of space. A pop-up television and upgraded entertainment systems bring modern comfort without overwhelming the yacht’s minimalist character. Forward, the formal dining area can be adapted with a folding tabletop, allowing the space to feel open when not in use.

Accommodation is arranged for up to eight guests in four cabins. The full-beam owner’s suite is a highlight, with large picture windows, seating, a vanity area, and a hisand-hers en suite bathroom. A VIP double cabin, twin cabin, and single cabin with an additional berth complete the guest layout, supported by accommodation for four crew. It is a configuration that suits family cruising, private escapes with friends, or charter-style hospitality.
HUMMINGBIRD’s specification underlines her practicality as much as her style. She carries a 4.2-metre RIB tender with Yamaha outboard, snorkelling equipment, strong safety systems, comprehensive navigation equipment, and a watermaker capable of supporting extended time aboard. Her commercial registration and charter-ready positioning add further appeal for buyers seeking flexibility.

Currently offered at EUR 1,800,000, HUMMINGBIRD represents an attractive proposition in the 30-metre performance yacht segment: fast, stylish, recently refreshed, and ideally suited to the island-rich waters of Asia. For an owner seeking a yacht with presence, pace, and an easy sense of onboard elegance, she is a compelling invitation to travel beautifully.

The World Sets Sail

Orient Express Corinthian, the world’s largest luxury sailing yacht, marks the dawn of a new era in ultra-premium ocean travel — where engineering marvel meets the art de vivre of France.

There are milestones in travel that redefine what is possible, and then there are the rare, once-in-a-generation moments that redefine the very nature of desire itself. The christening of Orient Express Corinthian at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, is unquestionably the latter. A decade in the making, this 220-metre, 15,000-tonne vessel has claimed the title of the world’s largest sailing yacht — and in doing so, has irrevocably altered the horizon of luxury travel.
The ceremony itself was theatre befitting the occasion. Four Fouga Magister jets traced the French tricolour across the sky above Saint-Nazaire as the Corinthian’s three soaring SolidSail rigs were raised in a choreographed sequence that drew audible astonishment from those in attendance. The French ensign was formally presented, the vessel entrusted to her captain, and as La Marseillaise rang out across the harbour, it became clear that Orient Express had achieved something extraordinary: the translation of a mythic brand legacy from rail to sea.

That legacy is considerable. Nearly 140 years after the original Orient Express first threaded its way from Paris to Istanbul, redefining what civilised travel could be, the brand now operates under the stewardship of Accor — which formed a strategic alliance with LVMH in 2024 — and has extended its reach from a 17th-century palazzo in Rome to the rails of Italy’s most cinematic landscapes. Corinthian completes what can only be described as a trifecta of prestige. The sea was always the final frontier.

At 721.8 feet in length, the statistics alone command attention. Yet the Corinthian’s most remarkable achievement is not its scale but its propulsion. She is the first cruise vessel ever equipped with the SolidSail wind propulsion system, a breakthrough developed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique from expertise gained in offshore racing. Three carbon masts, each rising over 100 metres and carrying 1,500 square metres of sail, rotate through a full 360 degrees to maintain optimal trim in any wind direction. In sea trials, the vessel achieved 12 knots under sail alone in 20-knot winds — an unprecedented result for a ship of this scale. Under ideal conditions, the Corinthian can be driven entirely by wind power. The carbon masts can also tilt to 70 degrees, allowing the ship to clear the world’s great bridges and granting her unparalleled freedom of navigation.

If the engineering is revolutionary, the interiors represent something no less extraordinary: the work of some 2,000 French artisans who drew on the golden age of ocean liners and the romance of the Orient Express train itself to create spaces of profound, unhurried elegance. Artistic Director Maxime d’Angeac has overseen every detail, sourcing genuine marble, hand-selected hardwoods, and supple leathers from across France. Because of the sheer weight of these authentic materials, special certification was required for their use at sea — an indication of how uncompromising the vision has been from the outset.
Spread across four decks, the Corinthian’s 54 suites range from 45 to 230 square metres, each featuring panoramic windows of 3.6 metres and ceiling heights raised 25 centimetres above current industry standards. The effect is one of extraordinary space and light, with unobstructed ocean views framing every suite. A dedicated butler attends each cabin as a matter of course, and every aspect of the experience is offered on a fully inclusive basis.

Gastronomy is placed in the hands of Yannick Alléno, the multi-Michelin-starred chef whose name is synonymous with the apex of French culinary innovation. Five restaurants and private dining rooms fall under his direction, with the flagship La Table de l’Orient Express featuring a double-height ceiling that echoes the grand dining cars of the original train. Eight bars complete the social offering, among them an Art Deco speakeasy, a 115-seat cabaret hall, and — in a gesture of almost audacious confidence — a fully equipped recording studio. A Guerlain spa, the first of its kind at sea, offers an included thermal suite alongside a 16.5-metre swimming lane, pool, and a marina platform with direct access to the water.
The inaugural season unfolds across the Mediterranean and the Adriatic from May through October, before the Corinthian crosses the Atlantic for a winter in the Caribbean, calling at Saint-Barthélemy, Barbados, the Tobago Cays, and Moskito Island. Longer voyages, such as eight nights along the Amalfi Coast, begin at €45,600 per suite. A sister vessel, Orient Express Olympian, is already in fit-out following her April launch, with her own debut season expected in 2027.

In a luxury landscape increasingly crowded with bold claims, Orient Express Corinthian earns its superlatives. It stands as the most ambitious marriage of heritage and engineering ambition in the history of maritime travel: a vessel that does not merely carry passengers across the sea, but carries them into a different understanding of what travel can mean.

HOME OF THE MONTH
A Private Sky Residence on Wireless Road

There are addresses in Bangkok that speak before the front door opens. Wireless Road is one of them. Long associated with embassies, established wealth, leading hotels and the quiet confidence of the capital's most refined residential enclaves, it remains one of the city's most coveted places to live. At ONE89 Wireless, that sense of prestige
is carried upward into a rare high-floor residence where space, privacy and skyline drama come together with effortless sophistication.
This month's Home of the Month is a 371.57-square-metre luxury condominium on the 44th floor of ONE89 Wireless in Lumpini, Pathum Wan. Offered for sale at THB 310 million, and also avail-
able for rent at THB 1.68 million per month, the residence is fully furnished and designed for those who want the scale of a grand private home with the convenience and security of one of Bangkok's most distinguished high-rise addresses.
The first impression is one of calm proportion. In a city where even luxury

homes can sometimes feel compressed, this residence offers the pleasure of true volume. The open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas form a generous social heart, allowing light to move freely through the space and creating an elegant rhythm between relaxation, entertaining and everyday living. Floorto-ceiling windows frame broad city
views, while the 44th-floor elevation gives the home a serene distance from the energy below.
The living area is composed with a soft contemporary sensibility. Neutral tones, modern furnishings and warm wood textures create an atmosphere that is polished without feeling theatrical. Herringbone flooring adds a refined
architectural detail, while recessed and cove lighting introduce a gentle evening glow. It is a room made for multiple moods: quiet mornings above the city, formal evenings with guests, or relaxed weekends when Bangkok's skyline becomes the backdrop to private life.
Flow is one of the residence's greatest strengths. The dining area sits naturally within the main living space, large enough for serious entertaining yet connected enough to keep the atmosphere social. Nearby, the open kitchen brings a clean modern presence, with handleless cabinetry, integrated appliances and a substantial stone or marble island with waterfall-edge detailing. It is practical, handsome and suitably scaled to the apartment, equally comfortable for casual breakfasts or catered dinners.
The balcony access from the living area extends the experience outward. At this height, even a small moment outdoors becomes memorable: a place for morning coffee, evening conversation, or simply taking in the changing colours of the city. Bangkok's vertical landscape is always in motion, but from here it feels composed, almost cinematic.

The residence includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms, giving it an appealing flexibility for families, couples, visiting guests or owners who want dedicated space for work and retreat. The bedrooms continue the home's understated elegance, with generous proportions, built-in wardrobes and a sense of privacy appropriate to a residence of this calibre. A maid's room adds further practicality, while features such as a bathtub, dishwasher, washing machine, home theatre provision, Western-style kitchen and covered parking support a lifestyle built around comfort and ease.
As a corner unit, the home benefits from a greater sense of openness, drawing light and perspective from more than one direction. This is one of the quiet luxuries of the property: not merely its size, but the way that size is allowed to feel graceful. The layout avoids unnecessary complication, giving residents a home that feels intuitive, settled and ready to enjoy.
The building itself reinforces the sense of exclusivity. ONE89 Wireless is a completed luxury condominium with 52 floors and only 43 total units, creating an unusually low-density residential environment for such a central Bangkok address. That rarity matters. For buyers at this level, privacy is not a decorative extra; it is part of the value of the home. With security, CCTV, a garden, gym and covered parking, the project provides the essential framework for discreet, comfortable city living.
Location remains the defining advantage. From Lumpini, residents are positioned within easy reach of Bangkok's key business, retail, dining and hospitality districts. Chidlom, Ploenchit, Sathorn, Silom, Central Embassy and Lumpini Park all sit within the wider rhythm of daily life. Yet Wireless Road retains its own particular character, more composed than many of Bangkok's busier luxury corridors, with a heritage shaped by diplomacy, greenery and landmark residences.

This is the appeal of ONE89 Wireless: it offers centrality without surrendering calm. The city is close, but not intrusive. The address is prestigious, but not showy. The home is expansive, but not excessive. For an owner seeking a Bangkok residence with scale, privacy and long-term distinction, those qualities are far more compelling than surface glamour.
At THB 310 million, the residence sits firmly within the upper tier of Bangkok's super-prime market. Its price reflects not only its size and floor level, but also the scarcity of large-format homes in such a distinguished location. With only a limited number of residences in the building, and with Wireless Road continuing to hold its place among the capital's most desirable addresses, this is a property that carries both lifestyle appeal and enduring presence.

Ultimately, this Home of the Month is not defined by a single dramatic feature, but by the way its elements come together: a rare 371.57 square metres of private space, a high-floor perspective, a refined fully furnished interior, a prestigious address and the quiet assurance of low-density living. It is a home for those who understand that true luxury is often measured not in decoration, but in proportion, privacy, light and location.
Above Wireless Road, with Bangkok unfolding beyond the glass, this residence offers a poised and deeply desirable expression of city living. It is grand without being loud, contemporary without losing warmth, and unmistakably positioned for those who expect their home to carry the same confidence as the life they have built.
