Discover Your Outdoors

We’re all about the great outdoors. Think alpine peaks in Switzerland and Austria, iconic lakes in Italy and cobbled paths in France – remember to relax and soak it all in. Then there’s Norway’s dramatic fjords, Madeira’s beloved landscapes, Slovenia’s forested valleys and Andorra’s mountain trails.

INCREDIBLE COUNTRIES

AMAZING DESTINATIONS

Your

Journey,

Your Way

On an Inghams Walking holiday, you get to choose exactly how your trip starts. Fly, train or drive: it’s all about travelling your way and building the excitement before you even get to your holiday destination.

RAIL

Swap wheels for rails and watch the scenery roll by. From London St Pancras, head straight into the mountains on a more relaxed, lowerimpact journey. By choosing to travel by rail, you’re reducing your carbon footprint by 3.5 times* compared to travelling by plane.

FLY

Fly from regional UK airports and we’ll take care of the rest, including return transfers straight to your accommodation in resort. All you have to do is sit back and start dreaming of your holiday.

SELF-DRIVE

Pack the car, plan your route and travel entirely at your own pace. We’ll help with ferry or Channel Tunnel options, so your journey to your holiday is as smooth as the drive itself.

Norway

You can embrace friluftslivin Norway. The term means a way of life that celebrates the joy of being in nature. And that definitely sums up our holidays to this Scandinavian hotspot. Walk past thunderous waterfalls or enjoy a cruise through the Fjords –your pace, your way.

However you choose to holiday in Switzerland, know that you’re always going to have an impressive backdrop. This European country is big on scenery: snow-capped peaks like the mighty Matterhorn, miles upon miles of walking trails, traditional mountain villages and flower-lined promenades.

If it’s rugged mountain peaks, thermal spas and hearty cuisine you’re after, Austria is just the ticket. Join us in the Tyrol and Salzburgerland regions or explore sophisticated cities like Vienna, with its coffee house culture. Of course, there’s lots of walking trails too, suitable for all abilities.

France is a great choice for those who love the great outdoors. Mont Blanc trails. Regional cuisine. Alpine activities. There’s a perfect balance between adventure and relaxation so you can choose between easy walks, challenging hikes and top-rated accommodation. All served with top-tier views (quite literally).

The Portuguese island of Madeira is home to some of the most revered walking trails in Europe - and you can visit year-round. All levels will enjoy following Madeira’s unique Levada trails, old irrigation channels that today weave through lush forests. Madeira is steeped in history – don’t miss the unique wine tasting.

*source: Ecollective

Andorra may be small, but with over 100 mountains and three nature parks, it sure is mighty. From peaceful trails in the Pyrenees to long-distance mountain hikes, you can still expect a whole lot of variety from this landlocked nation – it’s also home to Europe’s highest capital city!

Our Slovenia holidays give you the chance to stop, breathe and reconnect with nature. Whether you’re an avid walker or nature lover, 60% of Slovenia is made up of forests. There’s also an abundance of architecture dotted across its towns and cities, including Medieval, Baroque and Gothic styles.

Italy is bursting with activity. Visit historic sites and take refreshing dips into sparkling lakes, or take a bite of the action with its rich food and drink scene. Keep the al fresco atmosphere alive with lots of walking options, from coastal trails and lakeside meanders to mountain tracks in the Dolomites.

Couples go at their own pace, taking in the scenery and unwinding in lakeside towns, while groups and families recount unforgettable days on the trails together – with plenty of opportunities for boat rides, local attractions and a quick dip in the lake along the way.

GROUP GETAWAYS

Nothing beats a holiday with your favourite people. Whether you’re part of a walking group or organising a trip with friends, Inghams makes it easy to plan a shared adventure that suits everyone. Each day is a choose-your-own-kindof-day: big mountain walks, exploring small villages, or a bit of both. And when you’re ready to turn in? You’ve got a comfy base to come back to, swap stories and plan the next day together.

• Groups seeking a mix of relaxed walks and more challenging routes

EXPLORE SOLOWITH HELP ON HAND

Solo travellers are just as well looked after. Shape each day your way – plan every step or keep things spontaneous. Join Inghams Guided Walks (in selected resorts) for a ready-made way to explore - and with an expert guide to give you the low-down. Or go at your own pace with support always on hand when you want it.

It’s as hands-on or as hands-off as you like. After all, this is your holiday. Oh, and the cherry on top? Some of our handpicked hotels don’t charge a single supplement.

MEMORABLE FAMILY MOMENTS

An Inghams family holiday ticks all the boxes: shared adventure, big views and memories that last. Fill your days with climbing, cycling, ziplining, tobogganing and easy-going mountain fun. With panoramic lifts, cable cars and destinations with boredom-busting facilities, making the most of the great outdoors couldn’t be easier (or more varied).

PLAY, EXPLORE, REPEAT

Adventure parks, playgrounds and mountain experiences give kids space to roam, while swimmable lakes, cycling routes and hands-on activities keep each day different. Family-friendly walks follow wellmarked, flexible trails, often with themed routes and interactive stops. And when little legs tire, cable cars take you straight to the views and back down again.

HOW YOU CAN SPEND YOUR TIME

• Exploring themed walking trails and gentle routes

• Paddling in lakes and stone-skimming

• Riding efficient cable cars for big views without the climbs (or achy legs)

• Tobogganing, mountain carts and adventure parks

Service

That Inspires

We’re a close-knit team with over 90 years of experience behind us, and lots of staff who live in our resorts, all ready to tailor your trip and make sure your holiday is perfect.

When you travel with us, you’ll feel the difference that outstanding service can make. With a package holiday, everything’s sorted (and protected by ABTA and ATOL) including travel, transfers, and accommodation and the reassurance of knowing you always have someone who can help (we’re available 24/7 during your holiday) means you’re free to enjoy every moment.

SUPPORT AT EVERY STEP

With us, everything runs smoothly –and long before you set off. From the moment you start planning, our Walking Specialists are on hand to help craft your ideal trip, sharing first-hand knowledge and insider tips.

While you’re on holiday, our Destination Experts are your trusted local guides – some are based in the resort for faceto-face support, others are just a call or message away.

We’re here to make your trip effortless, memorable and tailored just for you. You focus on the holiday – we’ll take care of the rest.

Guided Walks

One of the best ways to fall in love with a place is on foot – and that’s exactly what our Guided Walks are for. Many of our resorts include up to two Guided Walks a week included in your holiday, giving you the chance to join a small group of fellow Inghams guests and enjoy the journey together. The real magic comes from our local guides. They know every peak, trail and secret spot most visitors often miss, and they love sharing stories about local traditions, wildlife, or little quirks of the villages you pass through – their passion is infectious.

One of our stand-out walks is the Eiger Trail in Grindelwald, Switzerland. It’s a moderate-to-challenging route, and along the way you’ll gaze across wowfactor valley views and get up close with Eiger’s rock face itself.

It’s not all go, go, go – join gentle trails like the Stilluptal Walk in Mayrhofen, Austria. Descend from the top of the valley and let the calm wash over you as you pass the trickling river.

By the end of a walk, you’ll feel accomplished, inspired and connected – not just to nature, but to the people you’ve walked with. It’s walking, exploring, learning and laughing all rolled into one. No wonder these walks are often the holiday highlight.

“Petra, the guide who took us on the walks, was very friendly, had a natural enthusiasm and knew lots of interesting facts about the mountains and nature of the surrounding area. Nothing was rushed and she made the walks relaxed and very enjoyable.”
