65 years of innovative packaging solutions 65 anni di esperienza Tanti ne sono passati da quando, nel cuore della Romagna, nasce Infia. Da subito la sua vocazione produttiva si è indirizzata verso la creazione di imballaggi innovativi che potessero dare una risposta vincente alle nascenti esigenze di confezionamento, protezione e valorizzazione dei prodotti ortofrutticoli. Dai primi cestini in legno fino all’innovativa linea Kit in PET, di strada se n’è fatta tanta. Infia oggi è una realtà con oltre 400 dipendenti suddivisi in due stabilimenti produttivi. Il primo, di oltre 135.000 metri quadri, è situato a Bertinoro dove ha sede la direzione generale. Il secondo è localizzato a Valencia in Spagna.
Inoltre, vi sono due filiali commerciali nel Regno Unito e nella Penisola Iberica. Grazie alla sua organizzazione di vendita ed ai suoi partner in tutti i continenti, Infia è divenuta la prima produttrice europea di imballaggi in plastica per ortofrutta, collocandosi tra le prime aziende nel mondo. Infia ha saputo mettersi in evidenza grazie alla sua continua spinta verso l’innovazione che l’ha portata per prima a credere in nuovi materiali quali ad esempio il PET. A questa filosofia si deve l’introduzione del programma di tracciabilità di prodotto per i cestini. La sua rivoluzionaria linea Kit ha completato una gamma di articoli
che risulta la più moderna, completa e diversificata all’interno del settore. Tra le chiavi del successo, Infia ama ricordare le sue risorse umane. Una ricchezza che è sempre stata considerata fondamentale e strategica per il raggiungimento degli obiettivi che, negli anni, le hanno consentito di diventare l’azienda di riferimento nel mondo del packaging per la frutta e la verdura fresca. 65 years of experience So many have passed since Infia was born in the heart of Romagna. From the very beginning, its productive vocation has been addressed to the creation of innovative packing that could represent a winning solution to the new requirements in packaging, offering products that would provide the maximum protection and at the same time the valorisation of the goods. From the first baskets in wood to the innovative Kit line in PET, lots of work has been done. Today the company counts more than 400 employees divided between the productive areas in Valencia (Spain) and Bertinoro (Italy). The latter, in particu-

lar, with its 135,000 square metres, represents Infia headquarters in which the business strategies are defined. Moreover the two commercial branches in Spain and U.K., guarantee the presence of our products in all the world, thus positioning Infia at the first place among fruit packing producers in Europe and at the second worldwide. Infia has always distinguished itself for a continuous push towards innovation. It was the first to believe in new materials such as PET, to propose models that revolutionized the packaging of fruit, and to introduce the track-and-trace programme
for its baskets. Hence, its range of articles is one of the most complete and diversified within the market sector. Among the keys of its success, besides those already mentioned, we would like focus on human resources, which have always played a fundamental and strategic role in Infia allowing it to reach the targets and become the reference company in the market sector. Programma di sostenibilità Infia Infia si impegna a sviluppare e fornire soluzioni che aiutino i propri clienti a realizzare i loro obiettivi di sostenibilità. Siamo anche consapevoli delle nostre responsabilità come produttori ed è nostra priorità ridurre l’impatto ambientale delle nostre aziende nei processi di produzione. Gli imballaggi in plastica danno già un contributo significativo alla sostenibilità con la riduzioni degli scarti alimentari. Collaborando con i nostri clienti, i più importanti supermercati, le istituzioni governative e le organizzazioni di riciclo e di ricerca, desideriamo migliorare la performance dei nostri cestini e prodotti. Ambiente Utilizziamo pannelli solari per una parte di energia di cui abbiamo bisogno e promuoviamo, secondo la vigente legislazione, l’uso del materiale riciclato postconsumo seguendo le linee guida di EFSA. I cestini di Infia con ventilazione laterale diminuiscono del 25% le emissioni di anidride carbonica durante il pre-raffreddamento della frutta, e con il nostro nuovo manico mono materiale tutti i cestini Infia sono riciclabili al 100%. Sicurezza sul lavoro Grazie alla missione Infia per la sicurezza gli incidenti ed i feriti sul lavoro sono prevenibili. Ognuno ha una personale responsabilità di assicurare la propria sicurezza e garantire quella degli altri - sia dentro che fuori dal lavoro. Nessun obiettivo aziendale è cosi importante tanto che possa essere perseguito a discapito della sicurezza. The Environment We use solar power for a part of our energy needs and we promote, according to the current legislation, the use of post-consumer recycled material in accordance with EFSA guidlines. Infia’s side vented punnets decrease the “fruit cooling” carbon footprint by up to 25% and with our new mono-material handle all Infia punnets are 100% recyclable. Safety at Work Via the Infia mission statement for safety, accidents and injuries at work are preventable. Ricerca e Sviluppo LA VENTILAZIONE LATERALE Infia ha creato e sviluppato un nuovo concetto di ventilazione laterale: “F concept”. La buona areazione del vassoio permette di preraffreddare più rapidamente il prodotto e quindi bloccare meglio la maturazione della frutta. I fori laterali permettono inoltre una migliore dispersione dei vapori di etilene che produce la frutta. Oggi questo straordinario imballaggio è uno standard per il confezionamento di uva, fragole e frutti di bosco. Disponibile per i modelli: K28 - K36 - K37 - K62 - KIT500, (a breve su tanti altri articoli). Vantaggi per produttori / esportatori: • Precooling 25% più veloce, e quindi maggiore produttività della packing-house. • Un pre-raffreddamento più veloce significa un arresto rapido di maturazione e, di conseguenza, una shelf-life più lunga. • Risparmio energetico del 25%. Vantaggi per importatori / supermercati: • 25% in meno di CO2 = minor carbon footprint immesso nell’atmosfera. • Eliminazione delle condensazioni di vapor acqueo nei punti vendita al dettaglio, il che significa mag giore visibilità e meno muffe e attacchi fungini. • Nel caso di termosaldatura, risulta sufficiente usare un film standard invece di uno macro micro perforato, con un notevole risparmio eco nomico. • Maggiore eliminazione dell’etilene, ove presen te, sempre a vantaggio della shelf-life. Research & Development - Background Infia has created and developed a new concept of side ventilation: the “F” concept. A good air flow inside any packaging is the key to precool rapidly the produce and block the ripening of the fruit, slowing also the growth of molds and rots. Now it’s available on models: K28 - K36 - K37 - K62 - KIT500 and the range will grow in the future. Advantages for growers / exporters: • Precooling 25% faster which means increased productivity in the packing house. • Faster precooling slows down the ripening of the fruit and increases the shelf-life. • Energy savings of 25%. Advantages for importers / supermarkets: • 25% less of CO2 = less carbon foot print. • Elimination of internal humidity, that means better transparency and less molds and fungi. • When heat-sealed, a standard film can be used, instead of micro-macro perforated ones, for a great economic advantage. • Elimination of ethylene = longer shelf-life.

Research & Development VENTILAZIONE LATERALE REALE I fori di ventilazione laterale sono posizionati nella parte medio-alta del cestino, grazie ad una tecnologia di perforazione sviluppata da Infia. Questi particolari fori laterali hanno due vantaggi: • All’interno delle celle di pre-cooling, il flusso d’aria ha un moto orizzontale (non verticale). L’efficienza della ventilazione laterale sui lati del cestino è migliore di quella offerta dai tradizio nali fori posti sul fondo. • La pressione della frutta sulla parte alta dei lati del cestino è molto bassa e non provoca danni durante il trasporto dai luoghi di raccolta e im ballaggio al supermercato. “Reali” perché i fori sono posizionati nella parte medio-alta del cestino e non nella parte bassa con una tecnologia di perforazione verticale standard. Ciò significa una ventilazione laterale reale e senza il rischio di danneggiamento della frutta.
“Real” side vents
REAL SIDE VENTILATE The punnet side wall ventilation holes are positioned in the middle-higher part of the punnet. A series of holes are created by new punching technology developed by Infia. These particular side holes have two advantages: • Inside the pre-cooling rooms the air flow has a horizontal (not vertical) motion, so that the effi ciency of vents on the REAL sides of punnets/ clamshells is more effective than vents on top/ bottom of the punnets.
“Fake” side vents
• The pressure of the fruit on the higher part of the punnet sides is very low and there is no dama ge during transportation from the picking site/ packing house to the supermarket. Our trials included transit times of more than 30 days. In this situation punnet base ventilation holes can cause more damage to fruit because there is greater pressure on fruit in the bottom of the punnet. “Real” because they are positioned in the middle-higher part of the punnet. A series of holes is created by new horizontal punching technology developed by Infia. This means real side ventilation without damaging the berries.

Ricerca e Sviluppo Contenitori termosaldabili a ventilazione laterale Nei contenitori termosaldati la ventilazione laterale assume un’importanza fondamentale. I fori laterali permettono infatti una migliore eliminazione della condensa, contribuendo quindi alla durata del prodotto. Inoltre consentono di non dover utilizzare film microforati, permettendo quindi un notevole risparmio economico.
Heat Sealable Punnets with Side Ventilation. In all soft fruit punnets, side ventilation is extremely important. The side ventilation holes allow greater air flow and faster evacuation of humidity and condensation, helping to increase the shelf life of the product. Packers may choose to use more economical plain film (not micro-macro perforated).

“One Shot” Research & Development 100% riciclabile “One Shot” Da oggi Infia rende possibile la raccolta differenziata anche nei cestini con manico. L’esclusivo sistema di fissaggio del manico ci ha permesso di eliminare le due borchie in metallo, conseguentemente il cestino può essere smaltito integralmente nel contenitore della plastica.
100% recyclable Punnets with Handles. Infia’s “ONE SHOT” polyprop handle rivet, allows the full recovery and recycling of Punnets with Handles. The new and exclusive PP rivet system eliminates the old two metal studs, so the punnet can now be fully recycled as one plastic.
