Installing Microsoft Office As part of the new Hornet 365 portal, ESU students, faculty, and staff may download Microsoft Office 2016 on your personal computers and devices (up to 5!).

There is no cost and no forms to fill out!

1. Go to https://hornet365.com and click Students.

Click “GO” on the tile named Get Microsoft Office.

2. Log into the site using your email address without the G. Use your regular ESU password.

3. Click “Continue”. Choose the “Install” button, and follow the instructions shown on screen.

4. When you open one of the programs such as Word for the first time, it will ask you to sign in. Enter your ESU email account without the G, so it will be username@emporia.edu.

When Office is installed, it should license automatically and you don’t need to do anything. If you are prompted to license it, enter youruserid@emporia.edu and your password. * Note: When you login to download Office, enter your email address without the G, for example username@emporia.edu.

Wi-Fi Connections Hornet Hall is the Wi-Fi network for the residence halls. Once you click connect you will be prompted to enter a password.

Contact your RA if you need the password.

Hornet Nation is available across campus.

Connect to this network when out of the residence halls. Once you connect a browser window will pop up and require you to sign in with your ESU username and password.

Hornet Guest is reserved for campus guests.

Students should not use this network as some ESU services are blocked.

Connecting your Devices to the ResHall Wifi All devices in the Residence Halls connect to the Hornet Hall wifi network. Residential Life can provide the passcode for the Hornet Nation wifi.

All rooms have an Access Point for wireless connections. These units (mounted on the wall) also have Ethernet connection ports for gaming consoles or other Ethernet devices, such as your laptop.

Gaming consoles – Older XboxOnes may have problems connecting to Live services, such as voice chat and multiplayer. Please ensure that your console software is up to date to try to prevent this problem.

Casting devices – If you have a device that can receive casts, like an AppleTV or AmazonFire device, please password protect your device to prevent unwanted casts being sent to your device. We recommend that you not use Google Chromecasts, as they cannot be password protected.

Printers – While printers can be connected to the wifi, we strongly recommend that they be connected to your computer with a USB cable instead of connecting wirelessly. If you do connect your printer to the wifi, we ask that you power it off when not in use.

SkyPrint SkyPrint is an easy-to-use printing solution for students that can be found in many convenient locations across the Emporia State University campus. You can now print from ESU computers AND your personal devices in 3 Easy Steps: Step 1: Upload Your Print Job to SkyPrint Step 2: Locate a SkyPrint Station on Campus Step 3: Log into the SkyPrint release station, select and release your job!

All Emporia State University Student SkyPrint accounts are automatically credited $8.00 at the beginning of each semester.

SkyPrint costs $0.08 per sheet of paper for black and white, and $0.32 per sheet of paper for color.

If you need to print more than $8.00 worth, you may add funds to your SkyPrint account either on the SkyPrint website, using a debit/credit card or by using cash at the IT Help Desk Office.

SkyLab SkyLab is ESUʼs online virtual computer lab. From SkyLab, students can remotely access ESU-provided software including Microsoft Office, SPSS, SAS and other applications found only in on-campus computer labs. From the comfort of your home, dorm room, or anywhere with high-speed Internet connectivity, you can connect remotely to your own virtual desktop and all the software you need to be successful.

If you class uses a special instance of SkyLab, your instructor will notify you. When itʼs time for you to access it, the appropriate icon will appear when you log in to the SkyLab dashboard. You can get started by selecting the SkyLab icon in Hornet 365.

SkyLab can be accessed from Windows 10, MacOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Android.

Hornet TV + Digital Thereʼs always room for a little fun at ESU! Check out Hornet TV where you can watch the latest ESU videos and catch up on the latest news and events. Hornet TV appears on the digital signs on campus, on the web and via livestream that you can pop in and out of at any time!

Mobile Device Apps Gmail- Want to set up your student Gmail (g.emporia.edu) on your device? We recommend that you install and sign into the Gmail app instead of using your devices built in email applications.

ESU Mobile- -Students can use the app to view courses, check class schedules, account balances, grades and more. The app is available on the Apple App store, or Google Play.

Installing Symantec AntiVirus 1. Go to https://hornet365.com 2. Click Students.

3. Click Downloads.

4. Login with your ESU username and password. *Note that you will use the format of “userid@emporia.edu” to login, even though your email address may be “@g.emporia.edu”.

5. Click Symantec Anti-Virus for Home Use. 6. Click either Windows or Mac, depending on which kind of computer you have.

This will download the installer file.

7. Once the file has downloaded, click to run it, then proceed through the installer.
