Willett at the double as Horndean cruise to victory away at Portland
Goals for Willett either side of half time were accompanied by a Blankson strike in the second half as the Deans ran out comfortable 3 0 winners In Dorset.
Amongst the starting 11 for Horndean was Sam Hookey, who made his 250th appearance for the club
Willett had two early chances inside the opening minutes of the game, twice missing out in quick succession after firing wide and forcing a save from Edgar.
Willett did however break the deadlock on 22 minutes after battling well to win the ball off a Portland defender, before driving into the box and going past the ‘keeper and placing the ball into an open net.
The hosts had little to offer in front of goal in the opening stages however had a chance on 26 minutes when Marcus Smith tried his luck from the edge of the box, but he failed to test Scott who gathered the ball unfazed
Shortly after Borthwick came close to conjuring up an equaliser for the blues, after dispossessing Tom Jeffes, he had a crack from 30 yards and saw his effort go over the bar
3
Horndean had a chance to double their lead 5 minutes from the interval, as Tommy Tierney picked up a loose ball on the right and cut it back to Hookey waiting on the edge, who’s shot was guided over the bar
Horndean’s persistent pressure in the second period eventually found it’s reward on the hour mark, after Hookey had a one two with Tierney before slipping the ball into the path of Blankson on the charge who dinked past Edgar.
Just under 10 minutes later Horndean put the game well out of the reach of Portland, as Willett made it 3 with the pick of the goals, as he surged into the box from the right and lashed the ball emphatically into the top left from a narrow angle.
A substitution on 83 minutes saw Connor Duffin replace Rudi Blankson to make his return after a spell on the sideline with injury
Hookey had two quick chances to grab a goal on his milestone appearance, however he was denied on both occasions.
A strong defensive display and some good game management from the Deans helped see out the remainder of the game and wrap up the 3 points on the road, which sees them go level on points with second place Bemerton Heath

THERE would have been a lot of smiling faces at Boreham Wood on Monday night when Sorba Thomas came off the Wales bench to make his World Cup debut
It's the latest chapter in a remarkable rise for the former National League attacker, who is now starring in the Championship for Huddersfield Town
It wasn't all that long ago the 23 year old was one of Wood's most important players having come through their academy he regularly returns to give talks to the next generation of hopeful young footballers. "I genuinely think there is a fine line between arrogance and confidence," Garrard told me last week "If you're an elite athlete you've got to walk along that line. Sorba does that. He has the confidence in his ability and the arrogance to deliver on it You see that in his game That's why he's got his call up for Wales "He's got Premier League pace. We've always spoken about that. And he's added to his game, hugely With us he was always developing We got him on the coaching side of things so his off the field stuff the tough conversations dropping players in the U19s, people knocking on his door because they're not playing on a Wednesday, these are things he grew off the pitch which definitely helped him grow on the pitch.
"I went and watched him in the play off final last year I was sat with his friends and family. I don't think I've been as nervous as that for a game I've been involved in, let alone someone else Because it was like watching someone you've brought up. Now he's going to the World Cup."
He's not the only former Boreham Wood youngster out in Qatar. Sheffield United's Iliman Ndiaye is in the Senegal squad and his rise also has Garrard beaming
"We went to the PGMOL tournament three years ago where they were using VAR prior to rolling it out, and he scored a goal like Maradona," Garrard says "We knew he had a special talent Obviously he's gone off to Sheffield United and he's with Senegal now. "It's very similar routes (to Sorba) We were fortunate he landed on our lap but the minute he came in it was, 'No, no this one is special'." Of course there are plenty of other former Non League players at this World Cup. Thomas' team mate Kieffer Moore turned the game in Wales' favour when he came off the bench. The striker, now in the Premier League, played for Truro City and Dorchester Town before other spells at Forest Green and Torquay United on loan.
He also represented England C in an International Challenge Trophy game against Estonia. There are players in the Wales squad who have played Non League like Joe Morrell (Sutton and Margate) and Town Lockyer, who won promotion with Bristol Rovers In the full England squad, Nick Pope began at Isthmian League Bury Town Jordan Pickford had loan spells at Alfreton Town and Darlington, while Callum Wilson turned out for Tamworth and Kettering Town. Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo played on loan for Bath City in 2018 In recent years we've seen many more examples of players learning their trade in Non League and landing on world football's biggest stages. There is more than one route to the top.
As Garrard adds: "Iliman was at Marseille as a kid, didn't really make it, and was trying to find somewhere to go before he came to us Sorba was released by West Ham There are success stories."

Willett strikes late on as Horndean rescue a point at Bemerton
Horndean salvaged a draw late on away at Bemerton Heath, as Willett’s 88th minute strike cancelled out Rusher’s spotkick earlier in the second half to leave honours even at Moon Park
It was a cagey start to proceedings in Wiltshire with little threat from either side in the opening stages, the first real action came after the 15 minute mark as Clancy won the ball in the box for the hosts and forced Cameron Scott to palm his shot away, before he struck the follow up wide of the target
It took Horndean little over half an hour to register an effort on target, as a perfectly placed Tierney corner was swung towards Chad Field, who’s headed effort was cleared off the line at the back post
Horndean grew into the game as the first half progressed and looked more in control in the latter stages leading to the break, and came close on the stroke of half time with a quick break as Willett was unleashed on the left, as he drove into the box and saw his shot towards goal headed over the bar by the Bemerton defender, as an even first half ended in stalemate
Horndean came close 2 minutes into the second half, as Scutt set Rudi Blankson in the box in a dangerous position, however the chance was wasted as Blankson could only guide his shot wide at the near post.
Then on 54 minutes Bemerton were awarded a penalty following a rash challenge from Tom Jeffes The resulting penalty was buried home by Rusher to break the deadlock
Horndean struggled to create chances to find a way back into game after going behind, as they were shut out by a well organised Bemerton back line.
Willett came close 5 minutes from time as he received the ball on the break, he drove at the defence before firing a shot narrowly wide from the edge of the box.
Horndean’s patience however prevailed as on 88 minutes they carved Bemerton open with a good move on the attack, as a right sided Anderson cross was claimed at the back post by Kanjanda, who drove to the byline before squaring across to Willett who evaded his marker to fire home from close range.
The result sees Bemerton remain in 2nd with a 3 point cushion on Horndean in 3rd, with the Deans having a game in hand on the Harlequins
