2023 PRIVATE TREATY BULL SALE Bar F Angus

Dear Fellow Producers,

To begin this year, I would like to say thank you for all of the support the last few years. It goes unsaid too often that this wouldn’t be possible without you. Our sale structure is going to change this year as we have moved back home to Jordan, MT. We will not have a sale day but have instead decided to have a private treaty sale. The bulls are priced in the catalog and will be available on a first come first serve basis.

We are super excited about the offering this year. The bulls have been fed a high fiber ration from CHS and 4 lbs of corn and DDG. They have done exceptionally well and are maturing quickly. JE and Bonnie Cooley have been kind enough to allow us to background the bulls at their ranch just 3 miles east of Jordan. This makes it easy for us to manage and convenient for you to come and inspect them if you should desire. Great neighbors are truly a blessing from God.

We are offering progeny from Cowboy Kind 8157, Bruin Envy 7248, Marksman D274, and JCH J&K Spur 0028. As we use embryo transfers on many of our herd sires, there are many full brothers available for sale. All of the bulls used I would consider to be moderate birth weight. However, the Envy and Cowboy Kind sons would be suitable to use on heifers with confidence and then move on to be used on mature cows.

I know that the last few years have been a bugger for all of us and our cow herds. The good news about our cow herds is that the ones that are left are meant to be here. Kind of like the people of eastern Montana. As I heard an old timer say one time “The weak shit is gone, all that is left is those of us that God intended to be here”. Our cows are the same way; those that are left proved that they could stand a less than average winter ration, get a full belly of green grass for about 2 weeks a year, then have a steady diet of sagebrush and grasshoppers, raise a quality product and then breed back. Those are the ones we want.

Roni and I have worked hard to build our herd around the right cow. In our opinion, a moderate cow that will produce calves with quick, explosive growth and great dispositions. We have worked hard to manage the fertility in our cattle as they do you no good if they can’t raise a good one, breed back in a timely manner, and be ready to do it again. Also, the country that they call home demands an animal that is structurally correct, standing on good feet and bone with great udder structure to ensure she is in your herd for a long time. I know that we strive to always do better but am happy with where we are going. I know the quality of cow herds that you all have, and respect and appreciate the work, time and effort that it has taken to put it together. The fact that you would consider using our bulls is appreciated and humbling.

SEMEN INTEREST

Bar F Angus is retaining half semen interest in all bulls selling.

HEALTH & BREEDING EXAM

Breeding soundness exam, herd health and fertility testing will be done in middle of April by Dr. Nathan Beck of Fallon County Vet Clinic.

FIRST BREEDING SEASON GUARANTEE

We offer a first breeding season guarantee for any injury that would keep a bull from breeding. The first breeding season is defined as 90 days after turn out. If they are injured and cannot breed we will give you a suitable replacement, if one is available, or credit to next year’s sale minus salvage value.

DELIVERY

Free delivery in the state of Montana and adjoining states after fertility testing. Bulls will be delivered mid-April.

DIRECTIONS

From Jordan, MT, go east on Highway 200 for 3 miles. Turn south off the highway and follow the drive-way into the JE and Bonnie Cooley ranch corrals.
