Doctor enjoys her passion for motorcycles DOCTORA DISFRUTA SU PASIÓN POR LAS MOTOS By | Por José Luis Montemayor / Reynosa, Tam.
Belonging to a motorcycle club and at the same time exercising your profession as a general doctor, it does not impede Denise Cruz Casas who owns a pink and black Kawasaki which she calls “Michol Biker Pink”. She meets regularly outside the Municipal Auditorium, as in other places to make trips to Rio Bravo, Reynosa Cultural Park, as well as other nearby cities such as Valle Hermoso and Matamoros. “Riding a motorcycle helps you to relax, to feel free, in my experience as a woman it feels beautiful because motorcycles are not exclusive to men,” said who is a graduate of the University of North American Mexico (UMAN). Married for 3 years, she just had a baby and her husband approves that he rides his motorcycle around the city, always accompanied by a group of partners. “At first he didn’t like me riding a motorcycle, but he got used to it, he just asked me to be very careful”, said who wore a black shirt and blue jeans. The member of the United Reynosa Moto Clubs Association (AMCUR) is also part of the Reynosa Rebellion Club. “I have that feeling of rolling, even if it’s work, then the patients ask you in amazement ‘are you the one on a motorcycle?’, the motorists also greet you without knowing you”, she said. Cruz Casas confessed that he started in the rounds of necessity, as a means of transport 4 years ago, and then changed his scooter for another semi-automatic. “As a group my colleagues have visited Aguacalientes and Mazatlan, I went to Veracruz on a co-pilot’s occasion and it took us two days to arrive”, she express. Already in the city, they looked for accommodation available on a website and there they stayed and then returned to Reynosa. “In the motorcycle club there are several women and of all professions, not only doctors, I believe that the personality does not change, we are the same people at work as above on motorcycles”, she confessed. In Reynosa, there are about 20 motorcycle clubs and they have their rules, such as driving with caution, as well as giving assistance to those who require it on the road.<

DISEASES
If constipated go to ENT specialist SI ESTÁ CONSTIPADO ACUDA AL OTORRINO By | Por José Luis Montemayor / Reynosa, Tam.
DR. FRANCISCO JAVIER PÉREZ PEÑA. Otolaynogologist UANL. Otorrinolaringólogo.
One of the annoying symptoms of the cold is a runny nose, this can be due to the spread of flu, or an allergy to the change in the environment due to low temperatures. Due to the passing of winter at the border, dust conditions in the air and the lack of hygiene of the population in general, does not help much to improve the health of the population, so a simple cold can become a severe one, that lasting 3 days could be extended to 10 days. The nose is congested with mucus, which can cause a constant drip. Specialists recommend monitoring the symptoms that are not accompanied by high fever, higher than 37.8 degrees Celsius in the body, sore throat, head and throughout the body. Frequent sneezing and watery eyes are common in these cases; It is advisable to drink hot drinks such as chamomile teas with a little honey, to counteract the discomfort of the throat. In the locality, hospitals attend to hundreds of cases of sick patients, who may miss their schools and work, due to their discomfort. Doctors can prescribe antiviral medications to attack, both that annoying runny nose and a sore throat. Vapor baths every eight hours is also recommended so that the lungs receive pure oxygen. Doctors usually recommend some medication to mix with purified water. INCREASE CONSULTATIONS According to Dr. Francisco Javier Pérez Peña, consultations for upper airway infections have increased up to 50 percent, the vast majority are for seasonal influenza, rhinovirus and herpes zoster. “Cases of cold and cough are due to viruses, such as bacterial in-

fections and allergies”, explained the otolaryngologist. People, in general, should not let the moment pass, thinking that it will heal on its own, it can even be passed on to the ears. “A pharyngotonsillitis can be viral, bacterial or even mixed. In the ears inflammation and stagnation of mucus occur with very intense pain until the tympanic membrane is perforated and drains (suppuration)”, explained the doctor of the San Francisco Medical Center. The patient should go at least on the second day if no improvement is seen with traditional medications. “The flu lasts 4 to 7 days and should give way alone”, he said, but should never self-medicate. “Only medications for the symptoms should be used: analgesics, anti-inflammatories, and antipyretics (fever). The doctor must prescribe the antibiotic if it is justifiable”, explained the specialist who has certifications from the Mexican College of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, A.C., as from the National Normative Committee of Medical Specialties Councils (Conacem). The problem is that there are pharmacies in town that prescribe the same for all cases. “The worst mistake is to go to Dr. Simi and inject Ceftrisxone with Dexamethasone. Every patient, child or adult, is injected for any disease,” he said.<

Local doctors recommended to the general population in this winter season to increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A and C, as this will allow them to strengthen their state of health, in order to prevent respiratory diseases in this winter season. Dione Salazar Peña explained that increasing the consumption of vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins A and C, such as carrots, squash, broccoli, tomatoes, orange, lemon, pineapple, and blueberries. In addition, exposure to low temperatures should be avoided for prolonged periods, it will help prevent infections of respiratory diseases. The specialist urged to take special care with family members of the elderly, children or patients, sectors most vulnerable to the effects of this winter season. “It is very important that when leaving, the mouth and nose are covered to avoid breathing cold air since abrupt changes affect the respiratory system,” said the coordinator of the Head of Nutrition and Dietetics at the General Hospital of Zona ( HGZ) number 15 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). He recommended taking precautions such as covering himself with several layers of clothing, washing his hands with soap and water, covering his mouth when coughing or sneezing with a handkerchief or forearm, keeping clean objects of common use, avoiding saluting with a kiss or with his hand, going to very crowded places and have contact with sick people.

Allergic rhinitis, it is not flu RINITIS ALÉRGICA, NO ES GRIPE By | Por Especial / Monterrey, N.L.

If during the year you often suffer from sneezing, itchy nose, and eyes, as well as too much nasal discharge, it is time to go to the doctor, you could suffer from allergic rhinitis. This condition is among the allergic diseases, the most frequent worldwide can obstruct the nose. “Sometimes we believe that they are normal flu due to climate change, but if we let them pass, this can lead to other infections,” said the head of the Regional Center for Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University Hospital “Dr. José Eleuterio González” of the UANL, Sandra González Díaz. According to hospital figures, allergic rhinitis occurs a lot in childhood and about 800 million people suffer from it worldwide. “Allergic rhinitis is the gateway to other diseases such as asthma. Many people suffer from rhinitis and think they have frequent flu and get used to it”, said José Ignacio Canseco Villarreal, a hospital allergist. “All people who have more than three colds per year should consider being medically checked to rule out that it is an allergy”, the doctor added. Against this background, the UANL carried out the “Winter without allergies” campaign at the Regional Center of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of the HU. Medical specialists in the field supported patients with a diagnosis of respiratory, food and skin allergy.

The balance of the intestinal flora is essential for a human being to enjoy good health and combat the onset of diseases. That depends largely on probiotics, which can be found in a series of foods, essentially of dairy origin, canned or also in patent supplements. But what are they and what are they for? According to Brenda Martell Salinas, these are live microorganisms that are obtained from natural and artificial products. “They help us so that our good bacteria are always working correctly”, she said. The graduate in Nutrition and Food Sciences from the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT) explained that they are, for example, in unpasteurized yogurt, as well as in kefir, a fermented dairy derivative. She explained that prebiotics, on the other hand, although they also play an important role in digestive metabolism, are non-living substances from vegetables, vegetables and whole grains that do not have the same function, since probiotics perform more specific functions. “They help us fight obesity, which is largely because you don’t have proper digestive health. They also help us with glucose and cholesterol problems. “But it also benefits us to combat stress and anxiety, since we always have our brain connected to the stomach, but also the intestine”, Martell Salinas illustrated. As you have better digestion, the most com-

mon cravings such as sugars, fats, and irritable bowel issues will be avoided, he said. HOW TO TAKE THEM Another very important aspect to consider why probiotics are prescribed in children when they suffer from a disease is that antibiotics meet negative bacteria, but also good ones. “Then, it can be a cold, a sore throat or infection and the doctor also prescribes these organisms to the little ones. That way the immune system improves and helps them not to have so many colds”, she express. But adults should also take them, especially if they have constipation problems. “If we are going to use them, it is preferably with food. Not fasting, because they are live microorganisms that feed through our food and if we do not eat it they will not live or give the contribution we need”, said Martell Salinas. So probiotics are related to the balance and harmony of metabolism, but the recommendation given by this nutritionist is that people do not self-medicate. “It is important to ask what are the ones that I should consume, because some are for a condition that there was, such as diarrhea dehydration, and others are to maintain health. They are different cases and it is important to be changing, because the body has memory and because they are bacteria they have to be renewed, either in powder, pills or tablets”, she said. In fact, in the microscope it is possible to see these good bacteria. There are chemical tests that can establish the range that each person has, but the ideal is between 10 and 15 million. “So you know, we can start taking probiotics a few days to improve our intestinal flora after everything we’ve been eating on recent holiday dates. “I invite you to follow these tips, to see and ask what would be best for you. There is nothing like starting at a good weight, with good food to start the year 2020 quite well”, said nutritionist Martell Salinas.< FRONTERA DOCTORS | Febrero 2020

With the presentation entitled “Indications, contraindications, risks and virtues of Submucosal Endoscopic Dissection”, Dr. Juan Carlos Caramés, Surgeon and Advanced Interventional Endoscopic Gastroenterologist, of the Reynosa Endoscopic Surgery and Gastroenterology Center, participated on January 24 and 25 as a professor before Latin American specialists in the course “Submucosal Endoscopic Dissection and Endoscopic Peroral Hands-On Myotomy” that the Dime Clinic developed in conjunction with the Icesi University in Cali, Colombia. These complex techniques of advanced therapeutic endoscopy are beginning to be developed in Latin American countries, only a few endoscopists throughout the continent carry them out and specifically in Reynosa, Dr. Caramés has extensive experience and has been one of the initiators in the development of them. These advanced techniques of gastrointestinal endoscopy also known as third-space endoscopy, allow multiple digestive diseases no longer have to undergo surgery treatments, now, this evolution of advanced or interventional therapeutic endoscopy has managed to be resolved through introducing Sophisticated endoscopes and a series of high-tech equipment in combination with highly trained teams, and in this way patients have an almost immediate recovery, without injuries, and return to their daily activities in a few hours. The academic activity was aimed at professionals who practice Gastroenterology and Surgery with training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, being director of the course, Dr. Michel Kahaleh, renowned gastroenterologist, expert in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, who has taught in multiple courses (in Asia, Europe, United States, Arabia) Submucosal Endoscopic Dissection procedures and POEM (Endoscopic oral myotomy); He has written more than 600 scientific articles and is also the creator of third-space endoscopy techniques that are already being adopted worldwide. He also had the participation of Dr. Noriya Uedo, an expert Japanese endoscopist, and inventor of endoscopy techniques in the third space, who is also deputy director of the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology of the International Cancer Institute of Osaka, Japan; Dr. Fernando Casas from Bogotá, Colombia, general surgeon and endoscopist with experience

Maki will distribute 140 million pesos in municipal scholarships REPARTIRÁ MAKI 140 MDP EN BECAS MUNICIPALES By | Por Redacción / Reynosa, Tam.
Because promoting education is a priority in Reynosa, the mayor announced strong support for local students. “It is an immense amount of money with which we are helping all the youth and children of this city, who deserve that and more, and doing it in order”, said Mayor Maki Esther Ortiz Dominguez. She said that 140 million pesos will be distributed as municipal scholarships. The holder of the Republican city council stressed that it was the demand for scholarship applicants through online registration, that the system was saturated and the traditional way had to be activated, which is still in force and for which the days were extended, corresponding 5 and February 6, for young people attending high school. The candidates, said the municipal president, went to the Municipal Auditorium, with their complete stationery, as indicated by the call and copy of each document, in addition to a USB memory, to be enrolled in the “largest scholarship program in the history of Reynosa”. “In this year 2020, more fellows will enter and each of them will have an increase in their departure, which will be done bi-monthly through a bank card”, she express. This card will have the name of the student’s parent or guardian, or of the beneficiary if he is of legal age and who supports his studies, the mayor explained, during a supervisory tour of the Municipal Auditorium.<

Of rubber? You have Ehlers-Danlos ¿DE HULE? TIENE EHLERS-DANLOS DISEASES
By | Por Oscar de Jesús Pérez / Reynosa, Tam.
If you have “rubber” fingers or your skin may stretch, do not panic, but you may suffer from Ehlers-Danlos. People who have this syndrome, have flexible joints, may have broken blood vessels, even in the intestines or uterus in women. Therefore, it could cause serious complications during pregnancy. This can become a problem if you have a wound that needs suturing, because the skin would not be strong to support it. The causes are associated with a variety of genetic situations, some inherited, so they are transmitted from parents to children. That is, if you have one of the varieties of the mentioned syndrome, there is a 50 percent chance that the gene will be transmitted to your children. The symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos can vary widely depending on the level of mutation suffered by the patient. In each case, they are ultimately due to the lack or shortage of collagen. A common example is that of hypermobility, frequent for having flexible and unstable joints with a tendency to painful dislocations and subluxations. This is because the ligaments do not have the right type of collagen and are very elastic. The patient may also suffer from low lung capacity, increased fatigue while exercising, circulatory disorders, murmurs, and even heart attacks. If the type is not serious, you can lead a normal life, being prudent in their movements, because generally, people tend to “show off” their flexible abilities by unfolding their arms or legs.<

When inaugurating, along with the governor of the State, Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, the new Municipal Market of Tampico, Mayor Chucho Nader stressed that with the delivery of this great work, he begins a new stage in the commercial, and tourist development of the city and from the Huasteca region. During the inaugural event attended by the presidents of the State and municipal DIF Systems, Mariana Gómez de García Cabeza de Vaca and Aída Féres de Nader, respectively; the senator of the Republic, Ismael García Cabeza de Vaca; and the mayor of Altamira, Alma Laura Amparán Cruz. Also attended by local deputies, naval and military authorities, representatives of the productive sectors of the city and tenants of the markets, the building chief stressed that the history of Tampico and its markets originated on the banks of the River Tamesí in the year of 1825 He explained that for half a century La Galera, as the first municipal market was known, concentrated the economic and commercial movement of the area and after its disappearance due to a fire, in 1879 a new structure was built that worked until 1925. “After the oil boom, maritime development and population growth in the city, Tampico was placed as an important commercial and financial center nationwide, which made the construction of the Juárez and Hidalgo markets necessary”, he explained. Chucho Nader recalled that for almost nine decades, this space strengthened the economic development of the city and allowed many Tampique families to build their heritage. “The governor has always been an ally of the people of Tampico; at all times he was very aware of the completion of this work, which will be a trigger for development. No doubt new and better times are coming for Tampico”, he said.<

For hygiene: always wash your hands POR HIGIENE: LÁVESE SIEMPRE LAS MANOS NEWS
By | Por Redacción / Reynosa, Tam.-
Although it may seem simple, handwashing is very important to avoid getting a disease or getting a viral infection. And is that diarrhea, vomiting, and fever, if complicated can lead to hepatitis B, salmonellosis or gastroenteritis, in addition to respiratory infections that in turn, to a greater extent, can become pneumonia, bronchopneumonia or sinusitis. This is a consequence of an inadequate way of hygiene, which should now be resumed before the appearance of the coronavirus 2019-nCoV, which emerged in an outbreak in the city of Wuhan, in China. Washing your hands correctly is the most effective preventive measure to prevent gastrointestinal, respiratory, dermatological and ophthalmological diseases, said Dr. Aracely Margarita García Hernández. He explained that hand washing is a simple and quick task that, only a small part of the population does it correctly, “hence the importance of teaching since childhood that washing your hands correctly prevents the spread of germs and diseases”. The director of the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) number 33 of the IMSS of this city emphasized that it is not enough to wash your hands three times a day, because if hygiene is limited in this way, the risk of suffering an infection is increased.<

News related to the coronavirus quickly “viralized” through social networks, often misinforming people instead of giving them real and adequate information. This resulted in widespread panic in the population, as it is unaware of the exact status of the virus that arose in Wuhan, China. The pediatrician allergist and immunologist, Hannia Matt, defined the coronavirus as a very specific type of virus that is generally associated with infections with humans and certain species of animals such as camels and bats, among others. “Some of these viruses have the ability to mutate and be transmitted, either from an animal to a person and then from person to person, which is the most common route of transmission they have”, she said. She said that the importance of this current virus is due to the fact that it is genetically different from others that had already caused serious diseases, such as, for example, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, known as SARS, which caused many deaths. “There is very little knowledge about it, its genetic code was recently decoded by authorities in China”, express the specialist. She said that, as is known, there is still no cure for this disease, only for its symptoms, as with most viruses and there is no vaccine.
It was blunt to mention that, the issue of vaccines is something very important about which we must raise awareness among the population, because she said that, when it exists, it must be applied and not only that of the coronavirus, also that of influenza and all other sufferings. She said that the most susceptible people to suffer from them, like all infectious diseases, are children, because their immune system is developing and older adults, because theirs is in decline. Also people at risk such as pregnant women, diabetics and those suffering from immune diseases such as immunodeficiencies. She made it clear that, according to the authorities, to be considered within the range of risk they must have made a trip to Wuhan, China or have been in contact with confirmed or probable cases, and in addition to presenting acute respiratory symptoms such as, fever, cough, mucus and extreme tiredness. Among the recommendations currently issued by the authorities, also avoid eating raw or undercooked meat. “It is speculated that eating bat meat may have been the beginning of that infection; the cases that were initially detected, most had in common that they were in a population where they have a high consumption of shellfish and exotic meats”, said the specialist. She added that the constant washing of hands, the use of alcoholgel or antibacterial gel, as well as avoiding tumults or contact with sick people, as well as the use of cleaning and disinfection products in presentation of wipes and aerosol are appropriate preventive measures. She recommended to the parents that if their child is ill, do not send him to school until he has been checked by a doctor and some contagious disease has been ruled out. “The first thing is not to panic, you have to be aware of truthful information reported by the authorities, ignore certain media groups that only cause panic”, express. <

The coronavirus in Reynosa EL CORONAVIRUS EN REYNOSA EPIDEMIC
By | Por José Luis Montemayor | Reynosa, Tamaulipas
The information ran like wildfire. A professor from the National Polytechnic came from China with a possible coronavirus infection called 2019-nCoV. The Ministry of Health in Tamaulipas asked not to panic and stressed that there was no reason to close the borders or stop importing oriental products. The truth is that in China began on January 24 with 17 dead and hundreds infected. At present, at the beginning of February, the sum is 1,011 dead and 42 thousand confirmed cases. Gloria Molina Gamboa, head of Health in the State, said the possible case in Reynosa was ruled out after the samples were negative, and it was a rhinovirus adenovirus, that is, a common cold. Days before the news they already pointed to the city as a possible source of infection of the virus. The Health Secretary assured that the probable cause of coronavirus in a Reynosa patient was ruled out after the samples analyzed by the Epidemiological Diagnostic and Reference Institute (INDRE) were negative. “The 57-year-old doctor was diagnosed with adenovirus rhinovirus, that is, a common cold,” said the official about Wianwou Guo of the National Polytechnic Institute, who works at the Center for Genomic Biotechnology. It was the same doctor who thanked through social networks, after giving negative. “Negative result: thanks MBA biologist Nadia A. Fernández, Dr. Luis Camargo (Miguel Alemán), Dr. Daniel Carmona Head of State Epidemiology, InDRE. Thank you, family and friends, for your prayers, ”he published. In schools, mothers questioned whether students needed to wear mouth covers and if classes would be suspended. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are several recommendations to follow when if the spreading of the coronavirus appears: 1. Wash your hands frequently with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or soap and water. 2. When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with your elbow bent or with a handkerchief, to throw away the handkerchief immediately and wash your hands. 3. Avoid physical contact with anyone who has a fever and cough. 4. If you have a fever, cough and breathe hard, seek medical attention as soon as possible and inform your doctor of the places you have traveled before; 5. If you visit live animal markets in areas where cases of the new coronavirus have been recorded, avoid direct unprotected contact with live animals and with surfaces in contact with those animals. 6. Avoid eating raw or undercooked animal products. Raw meat, milk or viscera of animals should be handled with care to avoid crosscontamination with uncooked foods, by good food safety practices.<

< Febrero 2020 | FRONTERA DOCTORS
Confirmed: vaping leads to lung damage

CONFIRMADO: VAPEAR LLEVA A DAÑO PULMONAR By | Por Emilio Varela / Reynosa, Tam.
Health authorities in the United States investigate the cause of serious respiratory diseases in young people, who have fashionable electronic cigarettes and other vaping devices. Up to this year, out of 380 confirmed cases of lung problems due to electronic cigarettes, there are 10 deaths. El Universal reported that patients arrive at hospitals with severe problems with cough, chest pains, fatigue, and vomiting. Although they immediately received oxygen or connection to ventilators for recovery, the use of antibiotics did not work and the drugs used are undergoing experimentation. Electronic cigarettes are endangering the lives of smokers. Sick people said that when vaping they used products that included THC, a psychoactive substance that comes from marijuana, but others only used nicotine. Experts are advocating to market out the flavors of electronic cigarettes, to leave only tobacco.<

Diabetes, also known as “the silent enemy,” is detected in the worst case when the disease is too advanced and although sometimes some signs appear as dark spots in the armpits and neck, many do not take them into account. The internist and cardiologist, Nelson Ochoa Becerra, said that diabetes mellitus is a disease in which the pancreas does not secrete an adequate amount of insulin or the one that secretes cannot be used by peripheral tissues, causing blood glucose to rise. He added that it is a very frequent disease and there are more than 600 million diabetics worldwide. However, although diabetes is closely related to obesity, the main cause of the disease and the death of patients are heart problems. The specialist said that heart disease in diabetics occurs 14 years before in patients who are not, thus decreasing their quality of life considerably. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases mentions that, over time, the high blood glucose level resulting from diabetes can damage the blood vessels and nerves that control the heart. “Very often diabetics do not have pain or discomfort that warns them that they are having heart problems, so even if they are asymptomatic we ask them to have a cardiological evaluation routinely at least every year,” said Ochoa Becerra. He also said that there are currently new resources and drugs that not only lower glucose but “protect the heart and reduce or prevent the progression of the disease at the cardiac level.” The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases establishes a series of recommendations to be taken into account by patients. The most important thing is to go to the specialist who will carry out the appropriate studies for the correct diagnosis and management of the disease. DO NOT PUT IT IN A BROKEN BAG If you have diabetes, follow these four recommendations: 1. Have a healthy eating plan. 2. Stay at your ideal weight. 3. Perform physical activity regularly. 4. Follow these 5 remedies to avoid ERA SIGA ESTOS 5 REMEDIOS PARA EVITAR ERA By | Por Jaime Jiménez / Reynosa, Tam.
Acute respiratory diseases (ERA) play an important role these days with sudden changes in temperature because they lower the defenses and it is when infections are contracted, you have a cough or annoying flu. Although it is essential to visit a doctor, most patients seek traditional natural remedies to alleviate their conditions. According to Gloria Leticia Doria Cobos, a local epidemiologist, there is a wide variety of advice, here the five most important. 1. Tea with honey A very popular cough home remedy is to mix honey in a cup with hot water. To use honey as a cough treatment, mix two tablespoons of honey with hot water and an herbal tea. Drink this mixture once or twice a day. Please avoid children under 1 year of age eating honey. 2. Ginger Ginger can facilitate asthmatic or dry cough, as it has anti-inflammatory properties. It also relieves nausea and pain. Prepare a ginger tea with 20 to 40 grams of fresh ginger slices to a cup of hot water. Let it cool for a few minutes before drinking it. Add honey and a few drops of lemon to improve the flavor and calm the cough. 3. Liquids The most important thing for a cough or a cold is to stay hydrated. Research indicates that drinking fluids at room temperature can relieve cough, runny nose and sneezing. The relief of symptoms is immediate and they continue for a while after finishing the hot drink, you can drink clear broths, herbal tea or decaffeinated black tea and hot fruit juices. 4. Water vapor Wet cough, one that produces mucosa or phlegm, can improve with water vapor. Take a shower or hot water bath and let the bath fill with steam. Stay inside for a few minutes until symptoms improve. Drink a glass of water afterwards to cool off and avoid dehydration. You can also use vaporizers.

5. Bromelain Pineapples contain bromelain, which can help treat cough. It is an enzyme that comes from pineapple and is more abundant in the heart of the fruit. Some people drink pineapple juice daily to reduce the mucosa of the throat and eliminate cough. However, there is not too much bromelain in the juice to relieve symptoms. One of the recommendations made by the epidemiology department of the Sanitary Jurisdiction of Reynosa is to avoid contact with people who have these conditions, hygiene is important and is aware of senior citizens and children under 5 years. Consult a doctor when you have the following symptoms: chills, dehydration, fever over 38° C, fever for more than 3 days and weakness.<

For pain management, it is advisable to make a physical and psychological examination of the patient to see where it comes from. “For us, it is important to go to the origin of the problem, so we can solve the pain that comes in some part of the patient’s body because sometimes it is not only physical”, said Blanca Irma Camarillo Cantú, director of the Icata Institute. Pain can come from various causes, so it is important to investigate, to know the techniques that will be used to calm it. People with fibromyalgia have improved their discomfort, including the spine that has important nerve connections with the entire body. “The pain in fibromyalgia is very strong and constant, so it is only controlled. I know a person who has had great improvements with this technique”, she express. A restart in the system is recommended for the body to find its balance and break with its physical disorder, she said. Herbalism is another auxiliary means that is used for health, as with massages aimed at achieving the desired relaxation. So if you are in pain in the body or stressed, a moment of relaxation is recommended and in Reynosa, some specialists practice massages, because the pain is more than physical.<

Madero will save with waste treatment plant MADERO AHORRARÁ CON PLANTA TRATADORA DE DESECHOS By | Por Redacción | Ciudad Madero, Tam.
A saving of more than 40 percent will be reflected in the cost of garbage collection in Ciudad Madero, with the arrival of a waste treatment plant, said Mayor Adrián Oseguera Kernion, who carries out the corresponding steps to establish this alliance which will result in multiple benefits for the people of Madero. In this regard, he stressed that through the Public Services Department; the project is being adapted, which will be presented this month to trustees and councilors for approval through a council session. “This same month we presented to the council to give speed to the project, it is an impressive saving of 40 percent. All the cuts that have been made to us would compensate them with a saving of that magnitude”, said the mayor of the city. He also explained that if this important project is completed, the garbage treatment plant would be located where the former municipal dump of the Sahop colony was located, which has an area of 13 hectares to process the waste. “It is a company that will treat garbage without generating pollution, in several places this system is being implemented and the State Government is in favor of this dynamic so that municipalities are more efficient and have a better collection of waste”, he express. Finally, it is worth mentioning that currently, the Madero town hall collects through 17 vehicle units, up to 300 tons of garbage on a daily basis that are taken to Altamira, so if this great project is completed, the inputs would be reduced and more works would be translated in favor of the city.<

Sudden changes in temperature could cause facial paralysis CAMBIOS BRUSCOS DE TEMPERATURA CAUSAN PARÁLISIS FACIAL By | Por Redacción / Reynosa, Tam.
Given the sudden changes in temperature, specialists recommended to the population extreme care to avoid facial paralysis. This condition is considered a medical emergency and should be treated immediately to avoid asymmetries in the face and involvement in other organs, such as sight, where ulcerations or eye damage may occur. Dr. Norma Patricia Amador Ramírez advised to treat viral infections, ear conditions and avoid sudden changes in temperature, conditions that stimulate this evil and in general to take extreme care especially in those who suffer from chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and lupus. Sudden changes in temperature affect the small arteries of the facial nerve, which, when moving from a warm to a cold place or vice versa, close and cause the loss or deterioration of their function. “The sooner it is treated and reversed, the more possibilities there will be a total recovery”, added the director of the General Hospital of Zona (HGZ) number 15 of the IMSS. This health problem is perceived initially to chew and articulate words, followed by runoff of liquids through the mouth. “The progress is gradual, three to five days until reaching the paralysis of half of the face,” she said. In this trance, there is also a tingling sensation, numbness, and discomfort in the middle of the face. Amador Ramírez said mild cases heal from one to three weeks with specialized treatment and the physical therapy program; the moderates take one to three months and the delicate ones up to four months.<

The vast majority of patients in nutritionist Sheyla Karina Martínez Zavala are residents of the Texas Valley. Each year she receives an increasing number of tourists, who remain one season in the region, while the harsh winter passes in the north of the continent. For the “Winter Texans” in their holiday logbook, it is contemplated to cross to Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas, to stock up on medicines, handicrafts, and spirits. A considerable part takes advantage of the vast offer of the medical sector in this place, such as clinics with dentists and laboratories, but they also eat in their restaurants. A majority are senior citizens, some of whom suffer from health problems such as obesity, overweight and diabetes, so when excesses begin to become apparent, they may feel bad. Precisely to prevent this from happening, in this Mexican border town there is a clinic with a nutritionist that makes menus in English and Spanish, where they can balance their intake.

FOR A HEALTHY LIFE This service has been seen with very good eyes, since the health of tourists is essential for a good holiday and the “Winter Texans” know it, and they are beginning to become aware. “ He re t h e y c a n c o m e without a problem and attend to any condition they have. They are made a nutritional eating plan, their body composition, weight, and fat percentage are taken. “We check how your health is and based on that we build their menus, especially because there are many patients with chronic degenerative diseases, but we can work that part of the hand of healthy eating along with their medications”, express Sheyla Karina, who has her office on the main avenue of Nuevo Progreso, on Juárez Street, four blocks from the International Bridge. The interviewee said that generally fast foods and those that are supposedly healthy contain masked fats. “And we are going to try to take care of them a lot and carbohydrates, like totopos, that go with oil and all that, the classic cola, so it is necessary to go through the fruit waters, the most natural, because the Diabetes control must be on vacation or not”, she said. She said that to help tourists to have a balanced diet, they will not only make a consultation with a nutritionist but will also soon open a restaurant with rich and nutritious food so that their stay in Nuevo Progreso is the best and healthiest.<

Luis Javier Cruz Álvarez is a specialist with more than 30 years of experience - graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the General Hospital of the Ministry of Health - who in collaboration with Dr. Eva Lilia García de González is going to Nuevo Progreso to receive patients from the southern United States and the region. The doctor has innovative treatments to treat rheumatic diseases, scoliosis and osteoporosis, to name a few examples. “Eva Lilia has a very well established tourism and medical care center, so we are working together, providing support to this population,” he said. The doctor stressed that many elderly tourists arrive in the city and it is precisely that sector that is most affected by rheumatic diseases, although, he said, they also see much younger people, they can help them to have a better quality of life. “There are very clear examples that show us that the early use of therapies and new alternatives can help to significantly improve people with such problems,” he said. CLOSER TO YOU The interviewee emphasized that in the Texas Valley the number of rheumatologists is scarce and the waiting time for patient care can take up to six months, so he has had a very good response that he goes to the city of Nuevo Progreso. “Apart from that in the United States the cost of treatments is significantly different, while the quality of care is the same and here with us it is personalized. And not only the foreign patient, but the Mexican public that lacks health care insurance and feels very satisfied with the procedures we give them,” he said. Interested patients can contact Dr. Eva Lilia García de González directly at 956-651-3508 to schedule an appointment. “She is our health care coordinator and what we want is to make an advertising campaign to highlight that people need to be treated with quality and warmth,” Cruz Alvarez added. <
