Energizing drinks are use to get a better performance and avoid fatigue, but due to its multiple compounds can seriously affect health.

By Beatriz Flores In the quest for greater performance in daily activities or sports, people resort to various products that can help them achieve this.

Energy drinks have become popular because of their easy access, as they are com-

monly found in supermarkets, convenience stores; however, its effects are increasingly being questioned.

Erika Sosa Moreno, a graduate in Nutrition and Food Science, said that these beverages are rather stimulating because they contain ingredients that affect the central nervous system, such as caffeine, taurine, amino acids, carbohydrates, vitamins, and some extracts of plants like guarana.

“They enter the bloodstream within 10 minutes of taking it and after 45, caffeine starts to kick in and this takes away the sleep or fatigue and increases the performance of physical activity and we begin to feel more active,” explained the nutritionist.

She commented that like soft drinks, juices, and sugary drinks, they contain extra calories that are converted to fat and are called empty calories because they do not have any nutrients, besides the excess sugar can influence the development of diabetes mellitus.

People who are sensitive to the ingredients of this beverage may present high blood pressure, tachycardia, headache, nervousness, discomfort, and sweating.

“All these are harmful effects by exceeding the doses, the daily dose of caffeine recommended for an adult without any suffering is 200 milligrams and there are beverages that contain more than double and if we do not know our medical history, they can affect us, “said the specialist.

Sosa Moreno said that there may also be cardio-

Las bebidas energizantes son utilizadas para obtener un mayor rendimiento y evitar la fatiga, pero debido a sus múltiples compuestos podrían afectar seriamente a la salud.

Por Beatriz Flores En el afán por tener un mayor rendimiento en las actividades diarias o en el deporte, las personas recurren a diversos productos que puedan ayudarles a lograrlo.

Las bebidas energizantes han alcanzado gran popularidad debido a su fácil acceso, pues es común encontrarlas en supermercados, tiendas de autoservicio o conveniencia; sin embargo, cada vez son más cuestionados sus efectos.

La licenciada en Nutrición y Ciencias de los Alimentos, Erika Sosa Moreno, dijo que estas bebidas son más bien estimulantes, ya que contienen ingredientes que afectan al sistema nervioso central, como lo son la cafeína, taurina, aminoácidos, carbohidratos, vitaminas y algunos extractos de plantas como el guaraná.

“Entran en el torrente sanguíneo a los 10 minutos de haberla tomado y a partir de los 45 la cafeína hace efecto y es así que nos quita el sueño o el cansancio y nos incrementa el rendimiento de la actividad física y empezamos a sentirnos más activos”,

explicó la nutrióloga.

Comentó que al igual que los refrescos, jugos y bebidas azucaradas, contienen calorías extras que se convierten en grasa y son llamadas calorías vacías porque no tienen ningún nutriente, además el exceso de azúcar puede influir en el desarrollo de diabetes mellitus.

Las personas que son sensibles a los compuestos pueden presentar alta presión, taquicardia, dolor de cabeza, nerviosismo, alteración y sudoraciones.

“Todo esto son efectos nocivos por exceder las dosis; la dosis diaria de cafeína recomendada en un adulto sin ningún tipo de padecimiento son 200 miligramos y hay bebidas que contienen más del doble y si no conocemos nuestros antecedentes médicos, pueden afectarnos”, dijo la especialista.

Sosa Moreno dijo que también pueden presentarse problemas cardiovasculares a corto, mediano o largo plazo, como taquicardia, o un infarto al miocardio y aunque pueda no presentarse sintomatología, el problema puede estar presente.

La combinación de estas bebidas con

alcohol se ha convertido en algo frecuente, sobre todo entre los jóvenes, para potenciar y retardar los efectos, lo que puede llevarlos a caer en un coma etílico.

Pese a esto Sosa Moreno dijo que se puede tomar una bebida a la semana de forma esporádica, pero que lo más recomendable es optar por ingredientes naturales.

“Hay bebidas energéticas naturales que nosotros podemos pensar que contienen cafeína, puede ser una taza de café o té verde; si queremos aumentar la dosis puede ser té negro o si queremos disminuirla, puede ser té rojo”, explicó.

La entrevistada, que cuenta con un diplomado en Nutrición Clínica, dijo que de esta forma se evitan ingredientes y conservadores que pueden tener efectos negativos sobre el organismo.

Otra recomendación es la elaboración de un licuado de frutas con alto índice glicémico, que es la medida de la rapidez con la que un alimento puede elevar su nivel de azúcar en la sangre.

“Se puede hacer un licuado de plátano con mango o fresas, añadir miel y unas dos

cucharadas de avena natural. Es un licuado energizante y saciante que además evitará que sintamos la ansiedad y las ganas de comer que nos dan por la tarde”, añadió.

Destacó la importancia de verificar qué causas son las que están provocando la fatiga y el cansancio, como podría ser el no dormir las ocho horas diarias recomendadas en adultos, saltarse comidas y el ayunar más de tres horas.

Agregó que el hacer ejercicio ayudará a incrementar los niveles de energía por medio de la liberación de endorfina, sustancia natural producida por la glándula pituitaria y el hipotálamo con efectos a nivel fisiológico, emocional, cognitivo y conductual.

Belly button and its care The care of a newborn are many, from food to hygiene, in addition to growing concerns of parents, especially if they are new parents.

By Pamela Escobar Although it is up to 15 days that the belly button trunk remains attached to the body, it is important to take great care to avoid possible infections or hernias, said the pediatrician Víctor Soto Torres Septién.

“On average, the belly button falls between the fifth and the fifteenth day of the baby’s birth. Nothing bad happens if it drops before those days; is very rare, but possible and not the most common, “said the graduate of the Tecnológico de Monterrey.

The doctor added that there is a myth that “if you do not strip the baby’s belly the navel will jump” and added that it is not true that, in fact, it is not even necessary to do so.

“Sometimes I have to see children who’s belly were so tight up, that come to consultation because of vomiting. They put a lot of pressure on the stomach and that causes them to return the milk”, said Torres Septien.

The member of the Pediatric School of Reynosa warned that when the umbilicus cord is not treated properly in terms of their care at home, there may be a risk of infection or a hernia.

“It is the most important care that should be given to the newborn because it is just the belly button the direct communication with the mother while it was in gestation to feed,” added the specialist in children.

If the belly button looks jumped, he explained, it is a reference to an umbilical hernia, since a hernia is a hole that is generated in the belly button and that the vast majority of the times after a year and a half of age of the baby disappears and closes by itself.

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

The pediatrician recommended that the most important thing is to keep the belly button dry and clean. In addition to using some antiseptic to prevent infections and to dry faster.

“I do recommend daily cleaning with alcohol or some other healing that your doctor suggests, I only recommend that alcohol is above 70 percent, and do it at least four times a day”, he said.

According to Torres Septién, special care should be taken when putting on and removing diapers so that the clips they have

on the cord will not peel. The recommendations given are that while you have the navel stump, better use sponge baths to ensure that you do not get too much water and do not generate moisture.

“If you see a yellowish discharge, it gives off a foul smell, is red around the belly button or if there is temperature and the child stops eating, there may be a risk of infection and are signs of alarm,” said the pediatrician.

An emergency that could be serious if not attended to in time is if the belly button is jumped, that is an indication of a hernia, coupled with intense crying of the baby.

“The recommendation is to talk to your pediatrician and follow their instructions or go to a medical emergency center. In the case of children it is better to exaggerate in such situations than to let time pass and something more serious could happen, “he said.

When speaking of a hernia, its severity depends on its size, when the belly button

Los cuidados de un recién nacido son muchos, desde su alimentación hasta su higiene, además crecen las preocupaciones de los padres, sobre todo si son primerizos.

Por Pamela Escobar Aunque son hasta 15 días los que el tronco del ombligo se mantiene pegado al cuerpo, es importante tener muchos cuidados para evitar posibles infecciones o hernias, así lo precisó el pediatra Víctor Soto Torres Septién.

“En promedio, el ombligo se cae entre el quinto y el decimoquinto día de nacido el bebé. No pasa absolutamente nada malo si se cae antes de esos días; es muy raro, pero posible y no es lo más habitual”, dijo el egresado del Tecnológico de Monterrey.

El médico agregó que existe el mito de que “si no fajas al bebé, queda el ombligo saltado” y añadió que no es cierto que, de hecho, ni siquiera es necesario hacerlo.

“En ocasiones me ha tocado ver niños que traen los fajeros tan apretados que vienen a consulta por motivo de vómito. Le hacen mucha presión en el estómago y eso les provoca que vuelvan la leche”, detalló Torres Septién.

El integrante del colegio de Pediatras de Reynosa advirtió que cuando el ombligo no se trata adecuadamente en cuanto a sus cui-

dados en casa, puede existir el riesgo de infección o hernia.

“Es el cuidado más importante que se le debe dar del recién nacido, porque es justo el ombligo la comunicación directa con la madre mientras estuvo en gestación para alimentarse”, añadió el especialista en niños.

Si el ombligo se ve saltado, explicó, es referencia de una hernia umbilical, ya que la hernia es un orificio que se genera en el ombligo y que la gran mayoría de las veces al año y medio de edad del bebé desaparece y cierra por sí sola.

RECOMENDACIONES PARA EL CUIDADO

El pediatra recomendó que lo más importante es mantener el ombligo seco y limpiarlo. Además de utilizar algún antiséptico para evitar infecciones y que seque más rápido.

“Yo sí recomiendo la limpieza diaria con alcohol o con algún otro cicatrizante que le sugiera su médico; yo sólo solicito que sea alcohol arriba del 70 por ciento, lo anterior, mínimo cuatro veces al día”, dijo.

De acuerdo con Torres Septién se debe tener especial cuidado a la hora de poner y quitar pañal para que la pinza que tienen en el cordón no se arranque. Las recomendaciones que se dan es que mientras tenga el muñón del ombligo, usar mejor baños de esponja para procurar que no le caiga mucha agua y no genere humedad.

“Si se le ve secreción amarillenta, despide un olor fétido, está rojo alrededor del ombligo o si hay temperatura y el menor deja de comer, se habla de que hay un riesgo de infección y son signos de alarma”, precisó el pediatra.

Una emergencia que podría ser grave si no se atiende a tiempo es el ombligo saltado, es decir, presenta una hernia, aunado al llanto intenso en el pequeño.

“La recomendación es hablar con su pediatra y seguir sus instrucciones, o acudir a un centro de urgencias médicas. En el caso de los niños es mejor exagerar en ese tipo de situaciones a dejar que pase el tiempo y se haga algo más grave”, afirmó.

Al hablar de hernias su gravedad depende

del tamaño, cuando se salta el ombligo hacia afuera es por lo cual hay parte del intestino u órganos internos que se desbordan y salen por ahí, explicó el miembro del colegio de pediatras local.

“Después del año de edad, si la hernia no cierra podría ser quirúrgica su eliminación. Lo más recomendable es no llegar a ello”, expresó.

Dijo además que si ve que se pone color negro el ombligo, no es peligroso, ya que es normal que al no pasar corriente sanguínea por el muñón se ponga totalmente negro y puede asustar a las madres primerizas.

Otro dato normal es cuando se cae el muñón del ombligo se puede ver blanco en el lugar, mencionó el médico que es normal ya que es parte del proceso que también puede asustar.

earthquake victims Because aiding is Everyone’s Project, the efforts of the reynosenses in coordination with the municipal government and educational institutions, companies and citizen groups managed to gather four containers with 89 tons, 970 kilograms of food, tools, medicines and healing products, cleaning supplies and personal cleanliness, delivered from the heart to fill the hope of the Mexicans affected.

“Thank you Reynosa, every citizen who left a medicine, a product for hygiene, every person who bought a shovel, who helped to have these trailers that go to Oaxaca and Morelos, Reynosa has a heart!” Mayor Maki Ortiz.

The message was addressed in the company of the secretaries of the municipal cabinet, Hugo Ramírez Treviño; Zulema Del Carmen González Beas, Esmeralda Chimal, Eduardo Bladinieres, Eduardo López Arias; the second trustee Zita Del Carmen Guadarrama Alemán, councilmen officials and citizens.

Casi 90 toneladas de ayuda reynosense

PARA DAMNIFICADOS Porque Ayudar es Proyecto de Todos, el esfuerzo de los reynosenses en coordinación con el gobierno municipal e instituciones educativas, empresas y grupos ciudadanos logró reunir cuatro contenedores con 89 toneladas, 970 kilogramos de alimentos, herramientas, medicinas y productos de curación, artículos de limpieza y de aseo personal, entregados con el corazón para llenar la esperanza de los mexicanos damnificados.

“Gracias Reynosa, a cada ciudadano que dejó una medicina, un producto para higiene, a cada persona que compró una pala, a las que ayudaron para lograr tener estos trailers que van para Oaxaca y Morelos; ¡Reynosa tiene corazón!”, dijo la alcaldesa Maki Ortiz.

El mensaje fue dirigido en compañía de los secretarios del gabinete municipal, Hugo Ramírez Treviño; Zulema Del Carmen González Beas, Esmeralda Chimal, Eduardo Bladinieres, Eduardo López Arias; la segundo síndico Zita Del Carmen Guadarrama Alemán, regidores, funcionarios y ciudadanos.

Cuatro centros de acopio coordinados por la alcaldesa, Maki Esther Ortiz Domínguez, con apoyo de diversas organizaciones civiles, lograron atraer el interés y la confianza de los ciudadanos, que desde el día posterior al terremoto se solidarizaron con los mexicanos necesitados.

El espíritu de hermandad de los reynosenses quedó plasmado en las bitácoras de donación, donde cada artículo y donador fue registrado, carga que fue monitoreada geográficamente hasta su destino y entrega.

Maki Ortiz, a nombre de los reynosenses, dio el sábado 30 de septiembre el banderazo a los trailers que partieron desde la Unidad Deportiva Solidaridad, hacia Jojutla, Morelos y Juchitán, Oaxaca; con la ayuda humanitaria que entregó cada ciudadano.

esperanza y con el objetivo de seguir poniendo en alto el nombre de Reynosa, la ciudad de la solidaridad, la ciudad de la esperanza para los damnificados.

What is Toxic Shock Syndrome? How does it relate to tampons? Its misuse can cause this disease that can become mortal.

Por Beatriz Flores Cada día son más las mujeres que prefieren utilizar tampones en vez de las toallas sanitarias durante su período menstrual, pues les permite mayor comodidad, seguridad y protección, evitando la posibilidad de sufrir un accidente.

Pero precisamente su gran capacidad de absorción que permite prolongar su cambio varias horas, podría ocasionar un padecimiento que si no se atiende a tiempo puede provocar la muerte.

La ginecóloga y obstetra, Ethel Yadira Ramírez Carreón, mencionó que el Síndrome de Shock Tóxico es una enfermedad grave que puede poner en riesgo la vida de las personas ya que tiene una mortalidad de hasta un 50 por ciento.

“Hay una generación de toxinas en el organismo en respuesta a la infección por la bacteria que es el Straphylococcus aureus; el organismo empieza a tener un proceso de infección muy fuerte que se caracteriza por fiebre alta, taquicardia, dolor de cabeza, vómitos, náuseas y baja presión”, mencionó la ginecóloga.

Dijo que posterior a estos síntomas se presenta falla de órganos y si se da en tres o más, requiere un tratamiento en terapia intensiva porque es una situación muy agresiva para el organismo.

Ramírez Carreón dijo que cuando surgió el “boom” en el uso de tampones alrededor de los años 80, se presentaron los primeros casos de Síndrome de Shock Tóxico y lo asociaron directamente a su uso, sin embargo, después se supo que estos no eran la única causa.

“Cuando se empezaron a utilizar lo que se buscaba era la comodidad y que fueran de súper máxima absorción para que pudieran usarse por muchas horas y no tener que preocuparse por cambiarse

y fue así que aparecieron algunos casos de este padecimiento”, dijo la egresada de la Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila.

Explicó que la sangre es un medio óptimo y excelente para el desarrollo de bacterias, las cuales son absorbidas por el organismo a través de la pared de la vagina al estar demasiado tiempo en contacto con el tampón.

Sin embargo, dijo que la incidencia de que el Síndrome del Shock Toxico sea desencadenado por el uso de tampones no es tan frecuente, pero en personas susceptibles sí puede presentarse.

“Tiene que haber una predisposición en el organismo, puede haber una contaminación de la bacteria y pasar como una fiebre si su sistema de defensa está al cien y eliminarla, pero si el organismo está comprometido y con las defensas bajas puede generarse el shock que es la complicación grave”, advirtió la integrante del Colegio de Ginecólogos de Reynosa.

Por tal motivo, la recomendación es que los tampones no se usen por más de ocho horas, siendo lo ideal realizar cambios aproximadamente cada cuatro o seis.

Expresó que los tampones son muy usados, sobre todo por mujeres jóvenes y cada vez aumenta su preferencia y pueden ser utilizados desde la aparición del primer ciclo menstrual y por quienes aún no inician su vida sexual.

La ginecóloga mencionó que el Síndrome de Shock Tóxico puede presentarse por una herida infectada o después de haber tenido un parto.

Ethel Ramírez, integrante de la Federación Mexicana de Ginecología y Obstetricia, recomendó que si hay un antecedente de este síndrome, de una herida infectada o infección fuerte o grave, deberían abstenerse de utilizar tampones.

Los avances en el diagnóstico, manejo, tratamiento y rehabilitación de los pacientes con cáncer de mama, disminuyen las probabilidades de muerte por dicho padecimiento.

Por Pamela Escobar El cáncer de mama es una de las enfermedades más frecuentes en el norte del país y en el sur de Texas, Estados Unidos, además ocupa el segundo lugar de neoplasias en México y el primer lugar de causa de cáncer femenino, en Tamaulipas.

Sin embargo, para reducir estas cifras se han logrado grandes avances para evitar que se convierta en una sentencia de muerte; así lo expresó el oncólogo Francisco José Yamamoto Quiyono.

“El avance más importante es el realizado en el diagnóstico, por medio de la Tomosíntesis, detectando lesiones milimétricas, además de apoyarse con el ultrasonido y la mamografía convencional en otros casos”, dijo el cirujano.

Abundó en otros avances en la detección.

Herramientas como biopsias dirigidas. En el tratamiento, donde ya no es necesario quitar la glándula mamaria completa, en etapas tempranas se puede hacer cirugía conservadora de la mama, quitando sólo la tumoración y vaciando los ganglios linfáticos.

Los anticuerpos monoclonales son terapias especificas en la tumoración y atacan sólo las células malignas sin afectar las normales, así como la inmunoterapia, que es la administración de anticuerpos que actúan sobre el sistema inmunológico del paciente para que sus defensas del cuerpo ataquen a las células malignas, mismos que las engloban y acaban con el tumor, agregó el especialista en Oncología Quirúrgica en Birmingham, Alabama.

SÍNTOMAS QUE PRESENTA EL CÁNCER DE MAMA

Esto se logra al realizar mamografías y ultrasonidos en toda mujer mayor de 35 años de manera anual; en el caso de las menores, hacer ultrasonido mamario y auto exploración una vez al mes, 10 días después de su período menstrual o 5 días antes.

“Si nota algún nódulo o algún cambio en la glándula mamaria o en el pezón o una bolita en la axila asista de inmediato con un especialista. Deberíamos de tener un adiestramiento en las escuelas secundarias y preparatorias de cómo y cada cuándo se debe explorar la glándula mamaria”, agregó el integrante de la Sociedad Mexicana de Oncología.

Señaló las principales causas de cáncer de mama en la actualidad, por ello recomendó evitar el uso de hormonales, disminuir el consumo de grasas saturadas y azúcares.

En caso de padecer enfermedades como la diabetes o hipertensión que predisponen al cáncer de mama, mantenerlas controladas.

“Ahora bien, conforme avanza nuestra edad, hay mayores posibilidades que tengamos una tumoración maligna. Entre más grande es la mujer, aumenta el riesgo y la obesidad es también una causa, por ello la importancia de realizarse chequeos de manera habitual”, afirmó el miembro de la Sociedad Americana de Oncología (American Society of Oncology).

“Los anabólicos que se convierten en hormonas femeninas entran como hormonas masculinas, en dicho caso testosterona, y el hígado la vuelve menos tóxica realizando la conversión y entonces aumentan en los estrógenos, de ahí que haya cada vez más casos en hombres”, añadió.

ABOUT THE TREATMENT

Por Beatriz Flores El vitiligo es una enfermedad poco frecuente en la población mundial y aunque su mayor impacto es emocional debido a su llamativa apariencia, requiere de ciertos cuidados en la piel.

Se considera que hay una prevalencia del 1 al 3 por ciento en la población mundial de esta enfermedad, pero debido al impacto visual que causa pudiera parecer muy frecuente, aunque no lo sea.

La dermatóloga Patricia Sánchez Rodríguez mencionó que el vitiligo se debe a la alteración de la pigmentación de la piel, ante la presencia de melanina que se produce por unas células llamadas melanocitos que se encuentran en la epidermis.

Las células dejan de funcionar y la piel presenta una coloración pálida al inicio y después muy blanca; hasta el día de hoy se considera que tiene que ver con factores autoinmunes y de una actividad química a través de señales inmunológicas que bloquean la activación de los melanocitos.

“Hereditario y genético no necesariamente es lo mismo, genérico tiene que ver con que el problema está a nivel de los genes, hereditario es que nos transmitan un gen defectuoso; pero cuando se forma nuestro cuerpo, nuestros propios genes, también ahí podemos tener alteraciones genéticas nuevas, esto explica por qué alguien tiene vitiligo, pero nadie más en la familia lo padece”, explicó.

Las mutaciones espontáneas ocurren y ese gen defectuoso puede ser transmitido a la descendencia.

Se considera que hasta un 30 por ciento de los pacientes tienen antecedentes familiares de vitiligo, pero es difícil predecir quién pueda desarrollarlo.

Es una enfermedad no infecciosa y no contagiosa.

SOBRE EL TRATAMIENTO

La especialista certificada por la Sociedad Mexicana de Dermatología dijo que no existe una forma de prevención para evitar desarrollar vitiligo, por lo que el éxito en su tratamiento dependerá de que se realice de forma oportuna.

Existen diferentes clases de vitiligo, hay quienes lo desarrollan de forma discreta en zonas que no son visibles, como las axilas o el área genital y no avanza; el más simple es cuando existe una sola mancha en una región corporal, que es vitiligo localizado; otro es el vitiligo diseminado, que se presenta en ambos lados del cuerpo de forma simétrica; el de tipo segmentario es cuando aparece en un solo segmento corporal y vitiligo general, ocupando la mayor parte del cuerpo y es cuando las personas pierden completamente su pigmentación.

La doctora explicó que el cuidado de la piel de las personas con vitiligo es fundamental, ya que al no producir melanina las coloca en desventaja frente a los rayos solares.

“Las personas de piel clara tienen una me-

nor resistencia a la exposición solar y pueden presentarse quemaduras y ampollas, y lo mismo pasa con estos pacientes al exponerse sin bloqueador en sus zonas despigmentadas”, advirtió.

Además, se recomienda utilizar ropa ligera que otorgue protección y evitar broncearse, porque aún con estas barreras aparecerán quemaduras solares.

Sin embargo, contrario a lo que pudiera pensarse, precisó que no se señala que exista una mayor incidencia de cáncer de piel.

VITILIGO Y ESTRÉS

Sánchez Rodríguez dijo que una persona que sea susceptible genéticamente a padecer vitiligo, al sufrir estrés pudiera desarrollar o acelerar la aparición de vitiligo, pero por sí sólo no es un detonante.

“Si tiendo genéticamente a desarrollarlo, no tengo forma de cuidarme para que no me salga; el estrés no es una condición solamente mental, tiene que ver con procesos químicos, todo eso se encuentra en nuestro

Comentó que cuando manchas discretas y pequeñas aparecen en la infancia se puede dar tratamiento y lograr repigmentarlas con la posibilidad de que queden en remisión, es decir, que recobren su tono normal, pero luego en la vida adulta, puede presentarse una recaída.

“Puede ser que tenía una mancha que se repigmentó y no se ha vuelto a repigmentar en mucho tiempo, pero eso no me saca del grupo de personas que tienen vitiligo”, agregó la especialista.

Consideró importante explicarle a los pacientes que las terapias van encaminadas a “seguirle el paso a la enfermedad y ayudarles a recuperar pigmento cuando sea posible, sobre todo en las áreas de piel expuesta, que la mayoría de las veces son las que más preocupan y que la terapia médica está científicamente sustentada.

Añadió que en una primera etapa, se considera que los melanocitos siguen viables pero no están vivos y en algún momento el paciente entra en un período refractario, es decir, que ya no responde a los tratamientos.

Con esto, no se evitará que surjan nuevas manchas, se tratarán las que ya existen, pero pueden aparecer más.

“En las manos de un dermatólogo calificado la terapia siempre tendrá que ir bien razonada y evitará exponerlo a tratamientos agresivos e innecesarios, sobre todo, es conveniente evitar lo alternativo y se prolongará el tiempo necesario para tratar de ayudarle a recuperar pigmento”, informó.

By Pamela Escobar One of the most common diseases of today is dyspepsia, that is, inflammation and pain in the mouth of the stomach, for practical purposes people know it as gastritis, said gastroenterologist Francisco Cano Lozano.

“Any discomfort that is related to burning in the stomach, early satiety, when you eat and fills too fast or the postprandial fullness, meaning, stiffness after ingesting food, are the most common symptoms of gastritis, “said the specialist in Internal Medicine.

The graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, added that it is recognized that its two main causes are the indiscriminate consumption of commonly used analgesic drugs and the bacterium helicobacter pylori.

In the case of the first ones are the nonsteroidal inflammatory type, mainly: diclofenac, ketorolac, naproxen, ibuprofen and its derivatives.

The bacteria helicobacter pylori, is present in up to 90 percent of the patients, in addition, causes the affectation to become chronic or acute.

“In the case of bacteria, there are hypotheses that suggest that it is acquired from childhood, between 11 or 12 years through contact with people or by eating food or contaminated water,” explained the doctor.

He also warned that it is not only the cause of gastritis, but also ulcer and gastric cancer, since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it type one carcinogen since 1998.

Cano Lozano commented that gastritis is not usually so serious, since it refers only to inflammation of the stomach with erosions that are small ulcers; however, he said it may have certain complications.

“The most serious are: bleeding, perforation in the stomach, which in turn cause ulcers, which are gastrointestinal bleeding in extreme cases, “said the member of the Mexican Gastroenterology Council.

Es importante solicitar atención profesional en cuanto se presenten los primeros síntomas y no automedicarse; de no atenderse puede derivar en sangrado, perforación del estómago o úlceras.

Por Pamela Escobar Uno de las enfermedades más comunes de hoy en día es la dispepsia, es decir, inflamación y dolor en la boca del estómago, para fines prácticos la gente la conoce como gastritis, dijo el gastroenterólogo Francisco Cano Lozano.

“Todo malestar que se relaciona con ardor en el estómago, saciedad temprana, cuando come y se llena demasiado rápido o la plenitud postprandial, que quiere decir, el envaramiento después de ingerir alimentos; son los síntomas más comunes de la gastritis” mencionó el también especialista en Medicina Interna.

Egresado de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, añadió que se reconoce que sus dos principales causas son el consumo indiscriminado de medicamentos analgésicos de uso común y la bacteria helicobacter pylori.

En el caso de los primeros son los de tipo inflamatorios no esteroideos, principalmente: diclofenaco, ketorolaco, naproxeno, ibuprofeno y sus derivados.

La bacteria helicobacter pylori, está presente en hasta el 90 por ciento de los enfermos; además, provoca que la afectación se convierta en crónica o aguda.

“En el caso de la bacteria, hay hipótesis que sugieren que ésta se adquiere desde la infancia, entre los 11 o 12 años por medio del contacto con la gente o por ingerir alimentos o agua contaminada”, explicó el doctor.

Advirtió también que no sólo es causa de gastritis, sino de úlcera y de cáncer gástrico, ya que desde 1998 la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) la declaró carcinógeno tipo uno.

“Ciertamente cualquier malestar en la boca del estómago tiene muchos diag-

nósticos diferentes, no siempre es gastritis, pues en esa misma localización está el páncreas, la vesícula, el hígado, que también puede molestar, pero todas las incomodidades en la boca del estómago relacionado con alimentos siempre son de origen gástrico”, recalcó el especialista en Gastroenterología y Endoscopía Digestiva.

Cano Lozano comentó que comúnmente la gastritis no es tan grave, ya que se refiere solamente a la inflamación del estómago con erosiones que son pequeñas úlceras; sin embargo precisó que puede tener ciertas complicaciones.

“Las más graves son: sangrado, perforación en el estómago; mismas que a su vez provocan úlceras, que son sangrado de tubo digestivo en casos extremos” detalló el miembro del Consejo Mexicano de Gastroenterología.

El agremiado al Colegio Nacional de

Medicina Interna, expresó que la inflamación crónica de cualquier órgano siempre es un riesgo de enfermedades tan serias como el cáncer.

TRATAMIENTOS Y RECOMENDACIONES

El gastroenterólogo Francisco Cano Lozano señaló que el tratamiento médico es el más importante; los fármacos que son recetados son omeprazol, pantoprazol, esomeprazol y sus derivados.

“Otro aspecto relevante es el de los hábitos cotidianos y los alimentarios, pues con tanto estrés que se vive, la comida rápida y a deshoras, aumentan más los pacientes por dicha enfermedad”, dijo el médico.

Recomendó realizar cambios higiénicos y dietéticos; es decir, comer a sus horas, eliminar de la dieta los alimentos que causen molestias, generalmente irritantes

como el vinagre, condimentos en exceso, menta, chocolate, entre otros.

Detalló que lo más importante es evitar automedicarse; ya que el uso indiscriminado de medicamentos, principalmente antiinflamatorios, es la principal causa de gastritis.

“En la actualidad es muy frecuente automedicarse ante cualquier padecimiento y eso causa mucho daño, y en cuanto a alimentación se debe eliminar la comida que provoca las molestias, además del cigarro y el alcohol que también están relacionados”, afirmó el internista.

En conclusión, señaló que es importante acudir al médico en cuanto se presente cualquier síntoma y no confiarse, además no consumir fármacos de ningún tipo, pues recalcó que todos deben de tener una indicación médica profesional.

Aunque comentó que si no se presenta ningún dato de alarma, no es indicado hacer una endoscopia, sólo en caso de síntomas muy precisos, ya que es la mejor herramienta que se tiene para el diagnóstico.

En sesión de Cabildo presidida por la doctora Maki Ortiz, la directora del Instituto Municipal de Planeación, Griselda Elizondo García; dio a conocer que Reynosa tendrá un nuevo museo.

Esto como parte de un proyecto para adecuar la antigua bodega de la estación del ferrocarril, ubicada en la avenida Revolución, entre Benito Juárez y Porfirio Díaz del centro de la ciudad.

La empresa Kansas City Southern de México, S.A. de C.V. y el municipio de Reynosa firmaron un convenio en donde se le entregó en comodato el inmueble, es decir, le cedió el derecho de utilizar sus instalaciones.

Debido a esto, se planea su recuperación para hacer una réplica de la vieja estación con una explanada para eventos culturales, además de que se impulsará la creación del museo ferroviario dentro del terreno, de aproximadamente 4 mil metros cuadrados, habiéndose contactado desde el IMPlan a los Tecnológicos de Monterrey y de Reynosa para iniciar el proyecto.

67 jóvenes reynosenses En una emotiva reunión, 67 familias tuvieron la oportunidad de festejar a sus hijos en una emotiva reunión que la alcaldesa organizó para el sábado 30 de septiembre, en el Auditorio Municipal.

Fueron 64 señoritas y 3 jóvenes los que bailaron el vals tradicional celebrando la llegada de sus quince años.

A las 19:00 horas que arribaron los festejados con sus padres, hermanos y algunos abuelitos y a las mesas también fueron llegando los pasteles y los platillos.

La jovencita Ashley Marisol Juárez Arredondo, dio un mensaje de agradecimiento por la gran fiesta Mis XV: “usted ha hecho que sea una realidad, esta noche es única e inolvidable, doctora Maki, jamás olvidaremos este gesto de humanidad, bondad y apoyo que nos brinda al festejar nuestros quince años”, mencionó.

Dijo también que: “aunque somos muy jóvenes sabemos todo lo bueno que está haciendo por nuestra ciudad y por todas las familias de Reynosa, sin duda alguna, le digo que nosotros y nuestras familias queremos ser parte de su proyecto porque nos queda claro que ¡Reynosa es Proyecto de Todos!”.

Maki felicitó a los festejados y destacó la importancia de querer y respetar a sus familias.

La tartamudez también es genética

Existen múltiples tratamientos contra la tartamudez para los pacientes que la padecen: desde la terapia individual o grupal, hasta aparatos electrónicos para mejorar la fluidez del lenguaje.

Por Pamela Escobar El tartamudear es un trastorno donde se repiten los sonidos, letras o sílabas, dificultando la correcta pronunciación de las palabras y frases. Algunas fuentes indican que es un trastorno de la comunicación y otros del habla, así lo explicó la especialista en el área de audición y lenguaje, Evelina Lince Campos.

La licenciada en Educación Especial, refirió que también se pueden prolongar los sonidos y se tienen interrupciones del habla conocida como bloqueos y puede además dificultar comunicarse con los demás.

“Una persona que tartamudea sabe exactamente lo que quiere decir, pero tiene problemas para producir un flujo normal del habla. Estos trastornos pueden estar acompañados de comportamientos que muestran esfuerzos, tales como el parpadeo de los ojos o temblor de los labios”, añadió Lince Campos.

Agregó que esto puede influir en la calidad de vida y las relaciones interpersonales de la persona. Además de hacerlo negativamente en el rendimiento de su trabajo y las oportunidades laborales.

LOS SÍNTOMAS

Estos pueden variar de acuerdo a cada persona y también a lo largo del día, detalló la especialista, en general hablar ante un grupo o por teléfono puede empeorar el tartamudeo. Mientras que cantar, leer o hablar al unísono puede temporalmente reducirlo.

“El también conocido por su término más amplio, falta de fluidez en el habla, afecta a personas de todas las edades. Se presenta más en niños de 2 a 6 años de edad, mientras están desarrollando sus habilidades del lenguaje”, mencionó la directora del Instituto Pedagógico Lince.

Y comentó además que hasta un 10 por ciento de los niños tartamudearán durante alguna etapa de su vida y ello puede durar sólo algunas semanas o varios años.

Así como suele ser más común que la sufran los varones.

“La disfluencia como también se le conoce, es posible corregirla en algunos pacientes, disminuye y pudiera desaparecer cuando se empieza un tratamiento a temprana edad, ya que en el caso de niños pequeños no son muchos los factores que se agregan para alterar su estrés y lograr que desaparezca”, afirmó la pedagoga.

La especialista expresó que existe la tartamudez fisiológica y que se presenta en niños menores de 4 años que aún no han desarrollado su lenguaje, pero que son casos para no preocuparse, pues son temporales.

“Los casos no curables son cuando un niño tiene ya su lenguaje estructurado y completo, es decir, después de los 5 o 6 años; o en la adultez tras algún accidente o trauma craneoencefálico; esta última no es tratable si es causada por el mal funcionamiento a nivel neurológico”, comentó.

“Pueden padecer dificultades para relacionarse, ya que modifican su comportamiento y se aíslan, no quieren socializar. Por ello los familiares tienen que crear un ambiente de armonía, tranquilidad, escuchar al hijo y sin presionarlo, para colaborar en el avance del tratamiento”, dijo la pedagoga.

Advirtió que el trastorno es algo que se tiene que atender, ya que no desaparece por sí solo, y si se presenta después de los 4 años los pacientes requieren de una atención especializada.

La especialista en audición y lenguaje advirtió que los padres también pueden provocarlo, si son muy exigentes, o demasiado demandantes y aprensivos con los hijos.

By José Manuel Meza Fractures or damage to the skeletal and muscular systems are problems that can occur at any stage of life, however, despite the advances of science, there is still much to improve not only from the palliative aspect but also in that the person that suffers from it can experience a real improvement.

Traumas can be triggered and range from bruises, sprains, lacerations, dislocations and even exposed fractures, which can affect a person’s morphology, although they may also have a genetic origin.

These and other issues such as clavicle rupture, septic arthritis, immobilization of limbs, sport dislocation, spinal cord trauma, cervical sprain, knee dislocation, vascular lesions, maxillofacial traumas and urgency in orthopedics were some of the topics to which general practitioners, nurses, physiotherapists, rehabilitation technicians, x-ray, and traumatologists were able to access on September 29 and 30 in the First Conference on Traumatology and Orthopedics.

Estos y otros temas como la rotura de clavícula, la artritis séptica, la inmovilización de extremidades, la luxación deportiva, el traumatismo raquimedular, el esguince cervical, la luxación de rodilla, las lesiones vasculares, los traumas maxilofaciales y la urgencia en ortopedia fueron algunos de los tópicos a los que médicos generales, enfermeros, fisioterapeutas, técnicos en rehabilitación, de rayos x y traumatólogos pudieron acceder los días 29 y 30 de septiembre en la Primera Jornada de Traumatología y Ortopedia.

De acuerdo con Carlos Enrique García Estrella, del Hospital Christus Muguerza, y quien formó parte de la organización del evento, estas actualizaciones “para el manejo de los pacientes en urgencias traen nuevos conocimientos a todo el personal de la saludad”, abordando temas simples y cotidianos.

“Estamos hablando de accidentes automovilísticos, heridas por arma de fuego, que son una realidad, porque todos los días recibimos a pacientes de este tipo en las salas de urgencias de nuestra ciudad”, dijo.

from different countries of Central and South America, to receive theoretical and practical lessons of the methods of Endoscopic Submucous Dissection “ESD” and Endoscopic Myotomy per oral “POEM”.

The ESD technique is applied in endoscopic resection of initial cancer or in larger tumors by extracting them completely. POEM is used for the treatment of Esophageal Achalasia disease and also to successfully resolve pylorus stenosis. In both procedures recovery is immediate and the need for open or laparoscopic surgery is avoided.

Dr. Giovanna Porfilio, a student of this course, and endoscopist of the city of Posadas, in Misiones, Argentina, ex-

pressed her growing interest in bringing this teaching to her country.

REDACCIÓN La endoscopia ha rebasado de manera acelerada sus propios límites en los últimos 10 años, pasando de ser un método de diagnóstico muy preciso, a una herramienta terapéutica prácticamente indispensable para el desarrollo de la medicina actual de alto nivel.

A través de la endoscopia se está logrando no solo diagnosticar y resolver enfermedades ya bien establecidas, sino prevenir el desarrollo de enfermedades mortales.

La endoscopia inicialmente reservada sólo para diagnosticar de manera muy superior a muchos otros métodos empleados, ha evolucionado rápidamente. Hoy en día, con procesadores cada vez más veloces, y con tecnologías más avanzadas, se pueden diagnosticar enfermedades en etapas tempranas y realizar una gran cantidad de procedimientos curativos mínimamente invasivos.

Se logran resecar tumores benignos y/o potencialmente malignos, detener hemorragias severas, retirar litos o piedras de los conductos biliares y ahora incluso drenar abscesos en sitios fuera del sistema digestivo, lo que en años anteriores se conseguía sólo con cirugía. Por tal razón, esta rama de la endoscopia, recibe ahora el nombre de endoscopia intervencionista.

Para lograr el desarrollo de todos estos procedimientos en Reynosa, el Dr. Juan Carlos Caramés ha recibido entrenamiento en diferentes hospitales con endoscopistas japoneses reconocidos a nivel mundial como el Dr. Uedo o el Dr. Inohue, y en los últimos dos años ha sido entrenado personalmente

Como se publicó en Doctors, el 31 de marzo y 1 de abril pasados, en Reynosa se realizó el Primer Curso Internacional de Endoscopia Intervencionista, bajo la dirección del Dr. Michel Kahaleh además de la participación como codirectores, el Dr. José Nieto de la unidad de Endoscopia Intervencionista de la BorlandGroover Clinic, de Jacksonville Florida, y el Dr. Juan Carlos Caramés, del Centro de Cirugía y Gastroenterología Endoscópica de Reynosa.

A este curso acudieron especialistas en Endoscopia Gastrointestinal Certificados de diferentes países de centro y Sudamérica, para recibir enseñanzas teóricas y prácticas de los métodos de Disección Endoscópica Submucosa “ESD” y Miotomía Endoscópica per oral “POEM”.

La técnica de ESD se aplica en la resección endoscópica de cáncer inicial o en tumores de mayor tamaño extrayéndolos de manera completa. El POEM se emplea para el tratamiento de la enfermedad de Acalasia del Esófago y también para resolver de forma exitosa las estenosis del píloro.

En ambos procedimientos la recuperación es inmediata y se evita la necesidad de cirugía abierta o laparoscópica.

El 25 y 26 de agosto se realizó el Primer Curso Internacional de Endoscopia Intervencionista de la tierra Colorada en aquella ciudad, nuevamente bajo la dirección del Dr. Michel Kahaleh y los profesores asociados del curso, doctores José Nieto y Juan Carlos Caramés, así como del desarrollo logístico a distancia por parte de la Dra. Minerva Cárdenas del Centro de Cirugía y Gastroenterología Endoscópica de Reynosa y el grupo de organizadores liderados por la Dra. Giovanna, en Argentina.

Este curso adquirió relevancia a nivel nacional. Asistieron Especialistas jefes de Endoscopia de los hospitales más reconocidos de toda la república de Argentina y un asistente de Nicaragua. Las técnicas a disertar fueron el ESD y POEM con clases didácticas y prácticas en modelos animales.

Los endoscopistas asistentes tuvieron la oportunidad, no solo de aprender estos procedimientos, sino de llevarlos a cabo. El curso que se realizó en el Centro del Conocimiento, incluyó también enseñanzas acerca de los equipos endoscópicos y de electrocirugía de primer nivel, así como de los aditamentos o instrumentos indispensables para realizar éstas técnicas.

Además, en el Hospital Escuela de Agudos “Dr. Ramón Madariaga”, el Dr. Kahaleh y el Dr. Caramés realizaron varios procedimientos en pacientes en vivo, transmitiéndolos simultáneamente al auditorio donde

los endoscopistas alumnos interactuaron haciendo preguntas dirigidas mientras observaron el desarrollo de los procedimientos.

Al mismo tiempo se realizó una transmisión en vivo a través de la plataforma YouTube, por invitación a toda Latinoamérica, donde una gran cantidad de especialistas lograron seguir la transmisión. El éxito de este curso fue tal, que ya existe la invitación formal para realizar el segundo curso el año próximo en Argentina.

A principios del 2018, se realizará en Reynosa el II Curso Internacional de Endoscopia Intervencionista en el que se incluirán algunas otras técnicas endoscópicas muy avanzadas. Este curso ha despertado el interés de especialistas Endoscopistas Certificados de México y países de centro y Sudamérica quienes ya se encuentran preinscritos.

En Reynosa, el Dr. Juan Carlos Caramés del Centro de Cirugía y Gastroenterología Endoscópica está desarrollando estos procedimientos de nivel internacional, no sólo beneficiando a la población del norte del país y del sur de los Estados Unidos, sino que además, está compartiendo estos conocimientos con Endoscopistas de otros países de Latinoamérica. Son además parte de un reducido número de especialistas en Endoscopia Gastrointestinal innovadores en la Endoscopia Intervencionista.

El evento estuvo organizado por el Comité de Festejos, bajo la coordinación del delegado municipal, Juan Antonio González Cebreros, y superó las expectativas, pues tuvo una gran convocatoria: tanto grandes como chicos pudieron disfrutar de una gran convivencia.

En el aniversario de Nuevo Progreso, que cuenta con alrededor de 10 mil habitantes, las autoridades mexicanas recibieron en el puerto fronterizo a Julie Guerra, la administradora del Puente en el lado texano, quien acompañó el vivaz desfile en el que participaron estudiantes de diversos planteles, los carruajes con la reina saliente, Elvira González; la entrante, Jovita y la princesa, Iyari, además de la comitiva de la villa y un grupo de cabalgantes a caballo.

El cortejo partió del puente y avanzó por la avenida Juárez hasta llegar a la plaza principal, donde se efectuó el cambio de las soberanas.

Al evento asistieron también los representantes del Colegio de Dentistas, el Conalep, la Universidad Tamaulipeca, el clúster de Turismo Médico, presidido por la doctora Eva Lilia García de González y los habitantes de Nuevo Progreso, además de distinguidos ciudadanos extranjeros y familiares de los primeros pobladores de la villa, quienes dirigieron unas palabras al público.

El delegado municipal hizo lo propio y además de agradecer la presencia de las autoridades de los diferentes órdenes de gobierno, como a la concurrencia en general, destacó el valor que le han dado quienes han hecho de Nuevo Progreso un punto en la frontera con un importante aporte económico y cultural construido a lo largo de más de seis décadas, dándole una identidad y colorido propio.

Con un ambiente de música y celebración y adornos alusivos a las fiesta patrias, la Plaza Principal lució llena de personas que pudieron disfrutar de la coronación de la reina Jovita y de un lucido evento que quedará para la historia.

Sería un servicio más que le daría un valor agregado al aforo de visitantes de Nuevo Progreso, pero también del lado texano.

El funcionario dijo que no habrá ninguna limitación para los ciudadanos que lo quieran utilizar, con la única condición de que quienes se dirijan a la Unión Americana deberán presentar su documentación migratoria correspondiente.

De esta manera, si se concreta el lanzamiento del transporte público binacional ir a Nuevo Progreso de compras, de paseo o para atenderse con los servicios de salud que ofrece, ahora será más sencillo.

HONEY AND CINNAMON

De la miel de abejas y sus bondades ya se ha escrito en otras ocasiones, es un potente antibiótico natural. Es uno de los alimentos más increíbles de la naturaleza, con varias propiedades medicinales.

IRON PALACE

Eiffel

EL PALACIO DE HIERRO

La obra de

Eiffel en Orizaba

Se dice que todo aquel que viaje a Orizaba, en el estado de Veracruz, y no visite el Palacio de Hierro, obra maestra de la arquitectura, simplemente no conoció la ciudad.

Esta valiosa construcción se ubica en la antigua Plaza de las Armas, en la calle Madero, entre Poniente 2 y 4, y se trata del máximo exponente desarmable del Art Nouveau (Renacimiento francés tipo Neoclásico) en México, y único palacio metálico en el mundo.

Fue diseñado por el francés, Alexandre Gustave Eiffel (constructor de la Torre Eiffel), en 1891, a petición del entonces alcalde Julio M. Vélez, con el propósito de tener un Palacio Municipal que contrastara con la arquitectura de mampostería de Orizaba, explicó el guía de turistas Carlos Mendoza Ramos.

Su costo fue de 80 mil pesos en oro, y para trasladarlo se requirieron tres viajes a través de buques de vapor de nombre París, Havre y Vala, con una carga de 3 mil 369 bultos, más una estructura metálica. El recorrido fue desde el puerto de Amberes, en Bélgica, hasta el de Veracruz.

de Bélgica, a base de láminas, postes, tornillos, puertas de madera y ornamentos de hierro fundido.

El propósito fue que este monumento representara la modernidad y la boyante economía de la ciudad, que para ese momento era la quinta más importante del país”, precisó Mendoza.

Para ensamblar la inmensa estructura de dos niveles, que miden una cuadra, se ocuparon 823 mil 222 tornillos, pintado en colores ocre y crema, se inauguró como Palacio Municipal el 16 de septiembre de 1894, y funcionó así durante 97 años.

Se encuentra frente a la Catedral de San Miguel Arcángel, en el Centro Histórico, y ahora su fachada luce en tonos verde y beige.

“Dicen que a finales del siglo XIX, enfrente del Palacio de Hierro había un almacén de ropa que se le conocía como la tienda del Palacio de Hierro, pues se utilizaba esa construcción como referencia.

Un sismo derrumbó el almacén y sus dueños, que eran franceses, se fueron a radicar a la Ciudad de México, en donde abrieron su tienda con ese nombre”, contó el guía.

Sin embargo, “como no existen datos que lo comprueben, se narra como una más de

las leyendas que rodean a la bella estructura metálica”, indicó.

Detrás del Palacio de Hierro se encuentra el que fue segundo Palacio Municipal de Orizaba, que ahora alberga una galería de arte y una cafetería.

Al lado está el mercado municipal, donde asegura, se vende de todo un poco, como en

cualquier mercado de una ciudad pequeña.

En la actualidad, el Palacio de Hierro está ocupado por oficinas y siete pequeños museos: el de la Cerveza; el del Futbol; el de los Ex presidentes y el de las Banderas; Raíces de Orizaba; Interactivo; Geográfico de Orizaba 1, y el Planetario “Rodolfo Neri Vela”.

Originally from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, adopted daughter of Tabasco from her earliest childhood.

Roxana Wiley begins being figurative, as well as a portraitist of the Mexican high society.

Over the years she becomes a relentless seeker of the meaning of existence, of the knowledge of the human soul and its emotions; is when through endless and varied courses and studies about it, enriched her vi-

sion of life and has integrated it into her art. Experiments with mixed techniques, with enamels, textures and discover the abstract as a direct transport to the subconscious. Takes painting as a means to create positive emotions within the viewer and awaken attitudes that reconnect your divine and earthly being. She is a believer in the philosophy of energy, of the positivism of art as a means of an action of inner change from form and color. Gustav Klimt’s influence is discovered in that colorful reflection of elements and details that she recreates, where gold takes power to illuminate the works.

Also, Jackson Pollock appears in some of her works to express her free, careless and happy spirit. This ambivalence in the painting does not contradict itself but is complemented be-

cause on the one hand, she uses detail in her abstracts and on the other, she lets her painting flow in “Action Painting”, always in search of a harmony that distinguishes it.

Among her teachers are: Luis Nishizawa, Aceves Navarro, Herminia Pavón and Dolores de la Barra Solórzano.

“My abstracts flow under the river of the music that moves them and from the words that with the intention harmonize, they spring like the soul that embraces love in colors ... to beautiful dreams of joy, peace and of hope”.

Her work has presence in museums and consulates nationally and internationally, as is the case of the Consulate of Mexico in Shanghai where her work is permanently exhibited.

Roxana Wiley comienza siendo figurativa, además de retratista de la alta sociedad mexicana.

Con los años se convierte en una buscadora incansable del significado de la existencia, del conocimiento del alma humana y sus emociones; es cuando a través de interminables y variados cursos y estudios sobre ello ha enriquecido su visión de vida y lo ha integrado a su arte. Experimenta con técnicas mixtas, con esmaltes, texturas y descubre el abstracto como transporte directo al subconsciente. Toma a la pintura como medio para crear emociones positivas en el interior del espectador y despertar actitudes que reconecten su ser divino y terrenal. Es creyente de la filosofía de la energía, del positivismo del arte como medio de acción de cambio interior a partir de la forma y del color. Se descubre influencia de Gustav Klimt en ese reflejo colorido de elementos y detalles que recrea, en donde el oro toma poder para iluminar las obras.

También Jackson Pollock surge en algunas de sus obras para expresar su espíritu libre, desenfadado y feliz. Esta ambivalencia al pintar no se contrapone sino que se complementa pues por una parte emplea el detalle en sus abstractos y por otra, deja fluir su pintura en el “Action Painting”, siempre en busca de una armonía que lo distinga.
