Wearing a baseball cap for pure taste is a habit that young and old people have. For one, they cover the strong sun rays and at the same time, they announce the owner’s hobby about a brand or sport. Dr. Edeb Daniel Martínez wears a cap in his office and confesses that he has more than one hundred who have been gathered on his trips or for gifts given to him by his family or friends. “I have been a fan of the New York Yankees since I was a child, I have 15 caps bought in that city, and I have other cities I have visited. Of football teams, baseball, car racing like this one of the Lewis Hamilton driver of Formula 1,” said the head of Dermaclinika. His wife then gave him one that says “the doctor” on a trip and carefully takes care of one of the Italian motorcyclist Valentino Rossi, also has one from Real Madrid. “I wear caps when I go to dinner with friends, at an informal dinner, if I am with my wife or my family; on weekends, on Sundays, they are almost always cap,” commented who is Colombian, but he has been living in Reynosa for 13 years. A graduate of UVM, with a postgraduate degree in aesthetic medicine in Guadalajara, said he has a special place to store his collection. Although not everywhere you can show off your caps, try to wear them everywhere; retains a signed by the shortstop Óscar Rentería, who will play in the majors with teams like the Cardinals of San Luis and the Red Sox of Boston. “I still buy caps, blue and black are my favorite because they are versatile and can be combined with any clothing.” It also has several countries such as Italy, France, Colombia, Israel, Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil, the latter of Flamengo and Sao Paulo teams, as well as Boca Juniors, from Argentina. Every Thursday he meets in the evenings with a group of friends for a carnita asada, and of course, he takes the opportunity to wear his cap on duty. The cost of a cap varies from 5 to 185 dollars when on average they are at 45 dollars, what matters is having a hobby that gives you satisfaction and using one allows you to get closer to others and have a conversation topic.<

And you already had a colonoscopy? ¿Y USTED YA SE HIZO UNA COLONOSCOPÍA? By | Por Dr. Juan Carlos Caramés

Colon cancer ranks third worldwide in frequency. In the United States, it occupies second place and in Mexico a very high place too. I tell you about the timely detection of cancer-related injuries from the International Clinical Center Research Center, in the city of Kobe, Japan. Developed countries such as Japan and the United States have managed to significantly reduce the incidence of colon cancer, carrying out timely colon cancer screening programs. With current trends, premalignant lesions called polyps in the colon can be diagnosed, which are elevated, even flat lesions that contain dysplasias, which are malignant lesions that are potentially going to develop colon cancer. Colonoscopy or low endoscopy is performed using an endoscope that is a thin, flexible tube that is inserted through the anus and transmits real images that are sent to a monitor. This procedure allows us to analyze the entire interior of the colon or large intestine. It also allows us to take biopsies (small tissue samples) that are sent for analysis under a microscope to obtain an accurate diagnosis. When is a colonoscopy indicated? It is usually when there are any or some of these conditions: -Changes in defecation habits -Evaluations with fresh blood -Anemia of unknown origin Something very important that the population should know, is that there is also preventive colonoscopy, this study will allow early diagnosis of initial lesions and resolve them immediately and thus avoid colon cancer. This disease can be prevented. To perform a preventive colonoscopy it is not necessary that there are symptoms, waiting for them to appear may be a late sign. Now in our Endoscopy Center, we have not only the technology similar to what they have in Japan but also the preparation, the training to diagnose these lesions on time. Remember: the only way to reduce the incidence of colon cancer is to have a colonoscopy on time. The following are the risk factors: If you are 45 years of age or older, if a close relative of yours was diagnosed with colon cancer, or if you were diagnosed with polyps in the colon 5 years or less, you need to go to another colonoscopy. Having one or more of the above factors, there is a risk of colon cancer and a colonoscopy is recommended. Remember that it is more important to talk about a colonoscopy today than to talk about colon cancer tomorrow.<

Autumn is coming ... and also is the sinusitis LLEGA EL OTOÑO… Y TAMBIÉN LA SINUSITIS By | Por Redacción
Given the changes in temperature that occur during the fall season, the population is recommended to take precautions to prevent sinusitis. Sinusitis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the sinuses, which are the cavities inside the cheekbones that are around the eyes and behind the nose, common in the fall and winter months. For this reason, the recommendation is to avoid sudden temperature changes, wear appropriate clothing that protects the head, nose, and mouth, and do not perform outdoor activities for these conditions. If left unattended, it can affect the function of the nose, eyes or middle ear, in addition to manifesting a profuse, thick nasal discharge, postnasal drip, cough, congestion, and headache. Among the factors that cause it is viral (the most frequent), bacterial and fungal infections. There are others related to the inflammatory mechanisms and the immune system of each individual. Sinusitis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the sinuses (and is common in the fall and winter seasons. It can last for months or years if not treated properly. Francisco Díaz Cisneros, director of the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) number 40 in Reynosa, recommended in these cases to go to the ascription doctor and avoid self-medication.<
The fright of Guillain Barré GUILLAIN BARRÉ, QUÉ SUSTO MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
By | Por Ricardo Romano / Monterrey, N. L.
Guillain Barré disease involves an attack by mistake of the nervous system itself and is a syndrome that occurs in people between 30 and 50 years. It is an immune disorder that demonstrates how complex the human body is, it appears with viral infections or bacteria and in a short time they can present symptoms such as the loss of tendon reflexes in arms and legs, of sensitivity, uncoordinated movements, and abnormal heart rate, among others. This happened to the right doctor Esteban Guevara Montiel, who from one day to another had a sudden change in his daily activities. It would be a miracle, but it took him several weeks to recover and return to his daily life. Guevara Montiel gives lectures such as “Beyond hope (recovering from Guillain Barré syndrome)”. The exact causes of the body’s “auto-attack” and the drastic change of life that a person may experience are unknown, although they may be exposed to this type of disease, not as popular or as well known by people but worth knowing of them and not treat them as a simple cold.<

Exercise is widely recommended to promote physical fitness, but what about cardiac patients? Roberto Ruiz, sports nutritionist and weight loss specialist spoke about the ideal routines for them. The most important thing is to guide patients about the multiple benefits of practicing some activity because in addition to health they give a better physical appearance. However, it is vitally important that before starting any type of training you should go to the general practitioner to undergo a full evaluation. “The doctor will determine if the person is fit to do certain physical activity and may recommend what type of exercise can be done based on the goal that is intended to be achieved”, he said. He noted that people who have problems with the cardiovascular system should think about which one are best recommended. In most gyms, instructors do not question attendees if they go on their own initiative or by medical pre-prescription, which is essential to know what type of exercise will be indicated.
ROBERTO RUIZ. Sports nutritionist and weight loss specialist.

EXERCISES AND ROUTINES The personal trainer mentioned that there are two types of exercise: cardiovascular or aerobic and strength; and if the patient suffers from an anomaly in the cardiovascular system, the most advisable thing is “to have an ease routine when exercising so that the system does not spikes”. A cardiovascular exercise will mainly affect the heart, “my blood vessels and my arteries, so I must perform one that does not raise the heart rate so that it
will not cause a major problem”, he express. He warned that the most common thing that people are told when they arrive at a gym is “doing cardio”, but this is not always the most recommended. “You get on the treadmill, your heart speeds up and you lack air, this happens because the artery is blocked; When doing extreme exercise the heart rate is increased and a small piece of fat can be released that travels throughout the bloodstream and will cover the smaller arteries of the organism that are in the myocardium and in the brain which can cause a cardiovascular event”, he explained. Therefore, once the outpatient has his health condition, his blood pressure and heart rate are monitored to define the type of training that will be assigned. Roberto Ruíz said that a good exercise that does not raise the heart rate is weight training, but if the only option is to train at home you can do it with a climber or treadmill but with certain considerations. The specialist said that a good formula to obtain the heart rate at which you should train is the following: get on the treadmill and as soon as the frequency is increased, stop completely until the heart has lowered its rhythm, to the figure obtained subtract your age and what remains is the maximum pulsations that must be taken. “If the monitor tells me that there are 220 to that, the rest we assume is 40 years old and the result is 180, it means that this is my maximum beats per minute that I should maintain”. With that same example, he continued, the training would start with 50 percent of the heart rate, monitoring is done and if I have 180 it will work thinking that it rises to 80 or 90 that is half of what was calculated. “We make a series of circuits periodically, with prolonged breaks as the body adapts and as greater recovery capacity is achieved, we give greater intensity”, he said. Roberto Ruiz recommended that people not be influenced by exercises or new attachments because they should start working with their own physical abilities in exercises such as squats, push-ups, and abs.< FRONTERA DOCTORS | Octubre 2019
A SABER...
<During the first week, you should train at 50 percent of the maximum heart rate, then at 60 and then at 70 percent. Recovery time varies as it adapts to physical exertion.

Yes, incredible as it may seem, there are people who have an uncontrolled, abnormal and persistent fear of doctors. It makes them panic! and that is called latrophobia. Due to this pathology, there are those who suffer from health problems that are not detected in time and that can reduce life expectancy. According to psychologists, such behavior is very common to observe during the stages of childhood and adolescence. Even in adulthood feeling, some slight dread is up to a certain normal way; however, inevitably there are people who fail to overcome their fears and manifest it. There are those who can not stand having near needles, scalpels, dental drills and even doctors with gowns. In some cases, these phobias are related to bad experiences of the past, with the parents’ sayings to the children of taking them to the doctor if they misbehave and in others, they have no apparent origin. The problem is when this concern becomes an impediment that can put health at risk. These traumas are usually treated in the first instance by a pediatrician and with psychologists. OUT OF CONTROL Although patients are told that some processes such as treating a toothache will not be so complicated, the hemispheres of brain activity can become blocked and even if they are explained, they lose their calm. If doctors or nurses don’t know how to handle it, the situation can get out of control and even get hurt. This is basically done with children who are lying on the floor crying avoiding being checked or when they are going to be vaccinated. Having a GP can help resolve or improve these high fear complications. When the patient places his trust in a doctor the process is less complicated and more bearable. With experience, professionals learn that they should not have communication errors or dialogue with words that can be prohibited and offensive in people with suggestions associated with latrophobia, although, in theory, they are not, such as blood, death, pain, bleeding and many others. Usually, both the doctor and the patient should do their part, but sometimes it is inevitable that because of the same fear of hospitals, syringes, medications and everything that has to do with doctors cause someone to get sick from not wanting to receive a treatment While those who suffer from this condition it is important that they understand that chronic conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and high blood pressure can be avoided with a simple visit to the doctor. Even with all that, undoubtedly, horror stories are also those that relate to pain.<

Running away from sadness is healthy HUIR DE LA TRISTEZA ES SALUDABLE By | Por Ángela Contreras / Reynosa, Tam.
Who has not felt moments where there is unhappiness, decay, discouragement or a feeling of disappointment? These symptoms are those that are commonly known as sadness, normal emotion that usually appears as a result of the hectic life it leads. It usually manifests itself with symptoms of crying, lack of activity, melancholy, pessimism, and low self-esteem. To avoid that this negative feeling affects us more than the account, it is advisable to carry out certain strategies such as crying if necessary, accept the situation and avoid judging yourself, not isolating yourself and occupy your time in several routines. A recommended solution to combat this feeling is exercise because when you do a physical activity you can release and disconnect the emotions that hurt, by changing the focus of energy, in addition to the benefits of blood circulation. When exercising, the brain produces endorphins, which are hormones that help in a similar way as analgesics do, help in the production of well-being, happiness and in some generate euphoria. So you know, if you want to reduce your levels of sadness and increase your happiness do not forget to perform an exercise routine, in order to achieve benefits in your body and mind.<

Obesity, a worldwide epidemic OBESIDAD, UNA EPIDEMIA MUNDIAL WEIGHT CONTROL
By | Por Irma Idalia Cerda / Monterrey, N. L. FOTOS IRMA IDALIA CERDA / CORTESÍA
The two main causes for obesity to prevail in 75 percent of the Mexican population are the abandonment of treatment and lack of training of health professionals. Therefore, the World Obesity Federation (WOF), the Mexican Obesity Society, in collaboration with the IFA Celtics Laboratory, held the first SCOPE School Mexico course in Monterrey, where specialists exchanged opinions on efforts to combat obesity. Dr. Donna Ryan, president of the WOF, said at a press conference that obesity is a global epidemic that not only affects the United States and the countries of Latin America but extends throughout the world. “Our goal is to educate in the search for better treatment and prevention and that is why we are here in Monterrey to launch this program”, she said. On the other hand, Dr. Carel Le Roux, the world leader of the SCOPE School Course, said they are here to learn about the disease experience that affects millions of people in the world. “The rest of the world is looking to Mexico to learn from their experience, I think that none of us has all the answers or one hundred percent of them, but if we work together we can achieve something”, he added. Obesity is currently classified as a disease, rather than as an aesthetic problem, or a problem of lack of willpower, he explained. “Two people can have the same physical activity, eat the same, and one can have obesity and the other can not, so the importance of continuing education of health professionals to be trained and address this condition related to more than 200 diseases”, said Dr. Ricardo Luna, president of the Mexican Society of Obesity. In turn, the medical manager of the IFA Celtics Laboratory com

“We call for all health professionals to join us for the continuous learning of the best methodologies to maintain the long-term continuity of their patients’ health, by raising awareness that treating obesity seriously is also a responsibility, as in any specialty”, express. OBESITY, A DISEASE TO TREAT Carel Le Roux, who is a professor of experimental pathology at University College Dublin, says that obesity is a disease that should be treated as such since it is usually referred to as a problem that is solved with diets and exercises, but this is not enough. According to studies, 90 percent of patients leave treatment in the first three months because they do not consider obesity a disease. “The problem of obesity has not yet been fully resolved, but we are going in the right direction. What we have to understand about this whole issue is that we have to prevent obesity, but it is also very important to keep in mind that many people are already sick and need to be treated. “And the same strategies that are used to prevent don’t work to treat obesity. If we think about lung cancer, if we want to prevent it, we use non-smoking as a strategy, but if we already have cancer, treatment should include, in addition to quitting smoking, chemotherapy, and medications”, he said. Le Roux added that when a person suffers from high blood pressure, he knows that he should not consume salt, but that even if he withdraws it from his food, it is very likely that high blood pressure will decrease, but that does not mean that the patient should stop taking his medications. to control it “Although if all the salt is eliminated in your diet, there will be many patients who will continue to have high blood pressure because, in reality, this disease originates in the kidneys. “So, the challenge for obesity is that it was not understood what the organ that needs to be treated (directly) was. Now we understand that it is the brain, especially a part of the brain that controls hunger or satiety; although it is not up to the brain to control motivation or complaints”, he stressed. The specialist explained that effective biological treatments are required, such as a diet, a good exercise program, surgery -in some cases-, medications, etc., and once this has been worked on, the next step is to alternate with a therapy psychological.< FRONTERA DOCTORS | Octubre 2019

The Mayor of Matamoros, Mario López, ordered the closure of vehicular traffic on a section of Tamaulipas Street to guarantee the safety of migrants. This is due to the fact that migrants from different countries installed their tents in the Plaza del Puente Nuevo, on the boarder of the Rio Grande and in the middle of the street, by not accepting to move to any shelter, for fear of losing their place in the process that brought them to this border. Interviewed about it, after presiding over the honors ceremony held in the main square this Monday at a very early time, Mayor Mario Alberto López Hernández explained “we closed a part of Tamaulipas Street because we are waiting for the arrival of more migrants who come with the political asylum status. “And we need to use that section temporarily while receiving resources from the federation towards the National Migration Institute so that they do the right thing, some roofs or places where it can be adapted to have people and that way we would free the street “ López Hernández mentioned that municipal staff, including cleaning and public spaces, work every day to maintain healthy conditions and prevent illness among families with the aforementioned status. He reiterated that other actions taken by the municipality is the empowerment of showers so that they are programmed in the use of them and avoid bathing in the Rio Grande, as they had been doing. He asked the Matamorenses to understand this migratory phenomenon that occurs because of the problems they face in their countries and awaiting a humanitarian asylum visa from the United States government.<

Horror violinist; there is an antidote VIOLINISTA DE ESPANTO; HAY ANTÍDOTO Concerned about the incidence of cases of bites of the violinist spider, the Hospital del Rio makes available to the public the antidote against the poison of this arachnid that if not attended to in time, can cause death. Leonardo Bautista Comparan, internist and medical director of the hospital, said it is very important to have it in existence before the possibility of a case. When a patient arrives with a violinist spider bite, ice wrapped in towels or blankets is placed directly on the lesion and removed intermittently. Then the limb or limb is raised and constant washing should be done to avoid added infections. “If there is a suspicion that the bite is from a violinist spider, the antidote is applied, the earlier the better the results”, he express. The purpose of the antidote is to block the enzymes contained in spider venom that produce necrosis, that is, the death of tissues, as well as the destruction of red blood cells. “It can be a local lesion or it can be fatal, in addition to this a series of measures are required, such as the application of physiological sera, some antibiotics, and products that have been shown to delay the necrotic phase of the lesion”, commented the doctor. He added that injuries do not occur immediately, but can sometimes take hours or even days. “We had the case of a person who arrived five days after the bite and with very serious injuries”, he said. But it is easy to recognize when the bite is from this spider since the central part of the lesion, where the tissue is damaged, is a bit dark, there is a whitish halo that indicates that the skin of that area is dying, around there is another red and one blue or purple, simulating a target shot. Bautista Comparan said that the best results have been seen when applied before an hour of being bitten, but there are those who have also had it before six hours. “Sometimes there is no discomfort and that is why they arrive until 24 and 48 hours later and that is when we begin to see more serious patients”, he exposed. He said that in the child it is worse because the proportion of the poison with its size is greater, so the reaction is more severe and can almost always go to the most serious phase that is the systemic one where liver is affected, the blood is destroyed and the skin begins to necrotize, presenting severe lesions. If there is no alteration, it is discharged, but if it does not improve, the average stay is 16 days, but the ranges from three to 40. If for some reason you cannot move to the hospital, the specialist said you should remain at rest, because any type of activity will cause the venom to circulate faster through the bloodstream. The doctor stressed that this spider, contrary to belief, is not aggressive, but attacks when it feels threatened. His favorite places are dark and dry and can be in closets, shoes, and clothes that have not been used for a long time, so you must be very careful.< FRONTERA DOCTORS | Octubre 2019

It is night and suddenly a cockroach flies through the window, to enter a person’s ear when they are sleeping. It seems to be a horror scene close to Halloween, but the anecdote is real, according to border specialists. Those who experienced this took the fright of their life: insects such as spider bites, ticks, mosquitoes, fireflies, moths, flies, and others have resulted in the inside of the ear, causing pain, so they immediately run to visit a doctor. “I just operated on a child who put a battery of hearing aids, I was able to take it out because it was new and had plastic attached so that the battery does not wear out”, said Dr. Francisco Javier Pérez Peña, of the San Francisco Medical Center. As an otolaryngologist, he is a specialist trained in the management and treatment, both medical and surgical, of patients with foreign objects in their ears such as marbles, stones, watch batteries, are usually pushed by accident, but the scare is when insects arrive looking for a den and this is not exclusive to infants. On another occasion, a child has introduced a small stone, which after two hours of trying to remove it, his parents went with him to finally patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat, but also in related cases of the head and neck. He noted that at least four times a week he attends to do surgery to remove it behind the ear. “What I have seen in Rio Bravo, on a holiday a woman got an animal and for trying to take it out with tweezers, they introduced it further inside.

A health professional can face difficult but also chilling situations caused by the medical conditions and conditions that his patients suffer. Guhito Erik Soto Tavera, a family doctor, recalled that some time ago while working in the Emergency Department of the General Hospital of Reynosa, he attended a person who arrived at the hospital unconscious and in a very unfortunate situation. The first step was to enter the “shock cube”, which is the area where the first attention is given to patients who arrive in serious condition. The doctor said his vital signs were quite bad, but that was not surprising, but when he took off his pants they found hundreds of larvae of flies in the genital area, as well as dirt and excrement from several days ago. “It was a very unpleasant situation because you must focus on saving the patient’s life, but you run into situations like this that you must pass by and concentrate on your work”, he said. He took advantage of the talk to recognize the work that nurses do because their work is complicated, but they do it with true vocation and service. He continued explaining that, when the patient was stabilized, he was taken to bathe so that he was in better condition, neat and comfortable. Sometime later, he was out of danger and in good health sitting in a chair, but recalled that “what the man complained most was that he had been bathed”. This condition is called myiasis, it is a parasitic disease that is caused by fly larvae and affects the skin and organs. The affected areas may vary and the eyes, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract, skin and ears are regularly affected. Soto Tavera explained that there are usually no sequelae of this disease in patients, only some local skin lesions when the invasion of the larvae was very deep, although infections can also occur in the lesions. The treatment consists of cleaning the affected area, removing as many larvae as possible manually and taking a dose of ivermectrin orally, which is a medication indicated in the presence of parasites. If the doctor indicates it, depending on the patient’s situation, the dose can be repeated one week later.<

Dogs and cats that are scary PETS
PERROS Y GATOS QUE ESTÁN DE MIEDO By | Por José Luis Montemayor
It is known that snake bites with their venom can kill humans, however, other animals are also equally dangerous, even if they do not seem so. According to information from the World Health Organization (WHO), dogs, cats, and monkeys are the cause of diseases from a bite, as well as deaths. “Up to five million people suffer from snake bites every year in the world; the majority live in Africa and Southeast Asia. To treat venomous snake bites, immediate medical treatment is required with the appropriate antitoxin”, they report in a document. “There are about 600 species of poisonous snakes, and approximately 50 to 70 percent of their bites cause poisoning”, says WHO. When someone suffers a bite, the affected limb must be completely immobilized and immediately go to a medical center to provide an antidote. Although it has been seen in movies and television programs, placing a tourniquet or making a cross-shaped cut to suck the wound and remove the poison, if it is not done correctly the effects of the poison can be aggravated, so it is not recommended as part of first aid. “Frequently, victims of snake bites should be treated with

tivenom serum. It is important that this serum is adequate for snakes endemic in the region”, they explain. Cleaning the wound to avoid the risk of infection, giving assisted breathing, administering the tetanus vaccine before discharging the patient, are some of the recommendations. In the case of dogs, it is estimated that 4.5 million people suffer bites each year in the United States. Of that amount, 885 thousand resort to medical assistance and 30 thousand undergo reconstructive surgery. Between 3 and 18 percent get infections, and 10 to 20 people die. In third world countries, every year up to 59 thousand people die of rabies, children being the main victims, in case of rabies and not being treated on time, they can cause death. Washing the wound under medical supervision, administering prophylactic antibiotics in the case of high-risk wounds, as well as applying a rabies treatment are the recommendations. RABIES CATS According to WHO, cat bites represent between 2 and 50 percent of animal bite injuries in the world. In the United States it is estivmated that 400 thousand cat bites occur annually and of those 66 thousand require an emergency visit to hospitals. Adult women are designated as the most affected by cat bites. If the pet was vaccinated against rabies, the route is to seek immediate medical supervision to rule out a possible risk of infection, in addition to applying in treatment if the animal was not vaccinated. Monkeys also constitute a danger for tourists; in India, they are common in some populations, so it is recommended to act in the same way in cases of rabies. To use prophylactic antibiotics are required to reduce the risk of infection, always with the supervision of a medical specialist. “The tetanus vaccine should be administered if the person is not properly vaccinated”, suggests WHO.< FRONTERA DOCTORS | Octubre 2019

Pollution harms babies before birth CONTAMINACIÓN PERJUDICA A BEBÉS ANTES DE NACER By | Por Patricia Berretta / Monterrey, N. L.
A new report has concluded that particles present in air pollution can reach the placenta of a pregnant woman who has contact with the baby before birth. This increases the risk of future health problems. The research found that particles aspirated by pregnant women pass from their lungs to the fetus directly. Although for several years the contamination has been linked to spontaneous abortions, premature births and underdevelopment at birth, it was believed that the placenta acted as an impenetrable barrier. The low birth weight has been a worldwide problem for several years but, it had not been linked to the pollution of cities. However, the results of that report found carbon dioxide particles in the placenta of pregnant women.< FRONTERA DOCTORS | Octubre 2019

Medical marijuana, the other option MARIHUANA MEDICINAL, LA OTRA OPCIÓN By | Por Paulina Payton / Monterrey, N. L.
Although marijuana is still an illegal substance for recreational use in Mexico, since 2017 its medicinal use was legalized. Beyond the stigma that exists, its essence serves for medical treatments that can change the lives of thousands of patients who have not been successful with traditional medications. Under this context, it is necessary to have information on how cannabis is used in medicine and its effects on health. For the formulation of marijuana medications, two cannabinoids have been used, mainly:tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). The first is the main psychoactive component of this plant, that is, they give the sensation of being drugged, but these effects can be controlled by leveling the dose so that it does not alter the Central Nervous System. On the other hand, CBD is mostly found in hemp, which is another plant belonging to the Cannabis Sativa L plant species, and is not psychoactive. When the doses are regulated, both assets are used to make ointments, oils, extracts and pills that help reduce anxiety, give a sense of well-being, reduce the perception of pain, stimulate appetite, eliminate nausea and spasms. They have usually been used to treat epilepsy, diseases of the nervous system, arthritis, inflammatory bowel diseases, pains due to cancer, as well as the side effects of chemotherapies and radiation, and they work as an alternative treatment for psychological disorders. These products are still in the experimental phase and may present side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, memory impairment, transient hypertension, among others, but can be counteracted by adjusting the dose and proper administration for each patient and are eliminated if their use is suspended. Although marijuana can cause psychological and physical dependence, its consumption is controlled and the modifications that are made so that its components are not psychoactive, eliminate that possibility. Nowadays doctors already prescribe strong medications such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, and tramadol that are highly addictive and generate tolerance with use.<

Although he is originally from Tampico, Tamaulipas, the dentist surgeon has already been working on the border of Mexico and the United States for three decades. “I started as a missionary doctor. It was how I arrived here in the region. And in 1989 I started with the Americans and we worked all over the border. “They were coming here. There were not many dangers to move on all roads. We came in a mobile unit and served throughout the region, from Nueva Ciudad Guerrero to the city of Matamoros”, said Jonathan García Ledesma. For five years this doctor went from town to town to assist patients with dental problems until he settled permanently in the town of Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas, an area preferred by American tourism. García Ledesma arrived at a time when there were only eight doctors, including him when he had not yet detonated the “boom” of the offices and pharmacies. With this profession, he managed to give his children a university education, help poor communities, since this dentist also offers community work with indigenous peoples of the Huasteca of San Luis Potosí. He confesses that one of his greatest satisfactions is that none of his patients have filed complaints about his work. “Yes, many of them come for me on recommendation, I never had any complaints, all the works went well, perfect”, he said.

CHOOSE WELL However, the great competition that now exists in Nuevo Progreso has been a factor so that his office does not receive the same amount of visitors, as in the beginning. The dentist requested that patients not get carried away by appearances, but rather study their options before putting themselves in the hands of doctors. “Some doctors are putting up luxury offices. There is a lot of influx on the main street and sometimes tourists prefer to pay more in a more arranged place like in one like the one I have, on the back street, which is the Reynosa. “Right now we have observed that visitors are coming according
to the office, but we have constantly received patients who were treated in other places because they did a bad job. On average we see five people who did not have a good treatment, for example, endodontics, which bring pain”, he warned. And is that Juarez Avenue is the natural corridor of tourists in Nuevo Progreso. There are thousands of people moving around. Not in vain at some time it was the most expensive square meter real state in the Repubica Mexicana. “Some paid up to three million dollars for a store, but it is important for people to know that there are also very good dentists in the parallel streets whom he invites to see”, said García Ledesma. An advantage of visiting the Mexican border of Nuevo Progreso is that on the Texano side there is a parking lot that can accommodate more than a thousand vehicles. Normally, “Winter Texans” take advantage of their long season in South Texas to take care of their health and visit the clinics, where attending is much more accessible than in their own country. “Among the services we have we offer from dental operations, fillings, crowns, endodontics, extractions, surgeries, extraction of third molars, fixed bridges, removable bridges, cleanings and some through other doctors who come to work, such as orthodontists and implantologists. “Here is a very safe tourist place. I only advise people to look for certified doctors, have their health record and pay taxes”, he express.<

Thousands arrive in South Texas with the sole purpose of improving their health, especially during the winter when large numbers of people fleeing the cold in the north of the continent are concentrated in the region. It is already a custom that tourists take advantage of their stay to move to Nuevo Progreso, a town on the Mexican border that has a vast offer of medical services. And precisely the president of that cluster, Eva Lilia García de González, shared 10 reasons to visit this place: <

Given the conditions of heat and humidity that occur in several regions of the state, the general population is urged to intensify the prevention and control actions of the denguetransmitting fly, a life-threatening disease when it is not attended to promptly on time. The symptoms of the disease in the classic type are fever and headache, bones, joints, muscles and, even, in eyes, as well as a rash on the trunk, arms, and legs. Also nausea, insomnia and lack of appetite. In the case of hemorrhagic dengue, which can be fatal, there are also bleeding gums, nose, digestive tract, urine and / or bruises in the body. Dr. Alicia Morales Solis explained that this disease is a febrile infection transmitted by the bite of the female mosquito Aedes aegypti, an insect that spreads in puddles of water in homes, in containers, pots, on a single sheet or even on floor residues and trees To avoid the proliferation of this mosquito, all the potential breeding sites of the insect, those with water residues, should be eliminated, said the clinical coordinator of the health prevention and promotion services of the Social Security workers of the General Hospital of Zona (HGZ ) number 15 in Reynosa, To prevent the bite it is advisable to place mosquito nets on doors and windows As well as use non-toxic repellents or insecticides, especially at dawn or dusk, when the mosquito has a greater predisposition to feed on blood. The specialist warned that if you do not go to the doctor or if the patient self-medicates, you run the risk of aggravating the disease and falling into a state of shock.<
