hat is esophageal stenosis? It is the narrowing of the esophagus’ diameter that results in difficult transport of food toward the stomach.

What are the causes of esophageal stenosis? All factors causing inflammation of an area in the surface of the esophagus as a result of gastroesophageal reflux, the presence of a tumor, prolonged use of a nasogastric tube, the intake of chemical substances such as caustic agents, and previous surgeries.

What are the symptoms of an esophageal stenosis? The main symptom is dysphagia, or the difficulty to swallow food, pain at the moment of swallowing, and regurgitation or return of gastric content toward the mouth.

There is also weight loss and progressive dehydration as food has a difficult time reaching the stomach.

How is it diagnosed? A medical history is necessary to evaluate the symptoms. An x ray test called esophagogram, where the patient is given to drink a radio-opaque fluid, is used to identify the site and characteristics of the stenosis.

What is the treament? The most effective treatment is achieved by means of an upper endoscopy. Once identified the stenosis, it is possible to perform a variety of techniques such as dilations with hydropneumatic balloons, dilations with dilators, or radial cuts with electrocautery. This procedures are performed without the need for open surgery.

The majority of these treatments can be performed in an outpatient clinic, without the need for hospital stay.

If the case of stenosis is a tumor, it is possible to use argon plasma via endoscopy to reduce the tumor’s size and reestablish an passageway for food.

Estenosis esofágica

Qué es una estenosis esofágica? Es un estrechamiento del diámetro del esófago que provoca dificultad para el paso de los alimentos hacia el estómago. ¿Cuáles son las causas de una estenosis esofágica? Todos los factores que ocasionen inflamación o retracción de un área en la superficie del esófago como consecuencia de reflujo gastroesofágico, la presencia de alguna tumoración, el uso prolongado de una sonda nasogástrica, la ingestión de sustancias químicas como cáusticos, lejía o ácido, esofagitis eosinofílica y cirugías realizadas en el esófago. ¿Cuáles son los síntomas de una estenosis esofágica? El síntoma principal es la disfagia o dificultad para deglutir los alimentos, puede haber dolor al paso de los alimentos, sensación de atoramiento en el pecho, regurgitación o regreso del contenido del esófago hacia la boca. Se presenta pérdida de peso y deshidratación progresiva al no llegar los alimentos al estómago. ¿Cómo se diagnostica? Es necesaria una buena historia clínica para estudiar los síntomas y se pueden realizar estudios de Rayos X llamado Esofagograma. Al paciente se le da a tomar un medio de contraste y se toman radiografías para identificar el sitio y

las características de la estenosis.

El estudio más específico para identificar y resolver una estenosis es la endoscopia con la que se puede no solo identificar sino planear y resolver la estenosis mediante diferentes técnicas sin necesidad de cirugía. ¿Cuál es el tratamiento? El tratamiento más efectivo es mediante endoscopia superior. Una vez identificada la causa de la estenosis y dependiendo de las características de la misma, se pueden realizar diferentes técnicas como Dilatación con balones Hidro-neumáticos, dilataciones con dilatadores de Savary-Miller o cortes radiados con la unidad de electrocirugía Erbe Vio300D. Todos estos procedimientos se realizan sin necesidad de heridas en la piel.

La mayoría de las veces estos tratamientos se pueden realizar de manera ambulatoria, sin necesidad de internamiento, aunque dependiendo de las condiciones de cada paciente en ocasiones se requiere realizar el procedimiento en hospital.

En ocasiones la causa de las estenosis es un tumor que está obstruyendo el esófago. En estos casos realizamos la aplicación de Argón Plasma por vía endoscópica con lo que se logra disminuir el tamaño de la tumoración para conseguir nuevamente el paso de los alimentos.

Mental health specialists attributed 90 percent to it for the total balance of a person, and that is according to the psychoanalyst José Alberto Martínez García; Fatorexia, as it is now known, is more common than it seems.

Megarexia is characterized by considering that your body is perfectly healthy and the inability to perceive excess weight. It is part of bodily dysmorphic disorders, that is, they do not appreciate or accept the body as it really is.

“It is a defense mechanism that protects these people from obsessions and worrying thoughts, although it goes beyond morbid obesity, they are expressions of something that is happening in the body, which is trapped within the overweight,” explained Martínez García.

La megarexia se caracteriza por considerar que tu organismo está perfectamente sano y la incapacidad de percibir el exceso de peso. Forma parte de los trastornos dismórficos corporales, es decir, no aprecian o aceptan el cuerpo como realmente es.

“Es un mecanismo de defensa que protege a estas personas de las obsesiones y pensamientos preocupantes, aunque va más allá en obesidad mórbida, son expresiones de algo que está sucediendo en el cuerpo, que esta atrapado dentro del sobre peso”, explicó Martínez García.

PADECIMIENTO COMÚN Y MORTAL

alertó que dicho padecimiento puede ser mortal, además que actualmente ocurre a edades más tempranas, pues antes ocurrían en personas por encima de los 30 años y ahora se presentan en adolescentes de 13.

“Es más común de lo que la gente piensa, más en latinoamérica que en cualquier otra parte del planeta, debido a que en los países del primer mundo sus sistemas de salud tratan de contener el problema, no de erradicarlo; pero al menos contenerlo y en nuestro sistema de salud, se trata de corregir, nunca prevenir”, explicó.

Por otro lado comentó que la megarexia se puede confundir con otras enfermedades mentales e incluso, hasta por la identidad de género.

CONSECUENCIAS

Sufrir de este padecimiento conlleva a muchas consecuencias, algunas muy graves, por ejemplo, el cuerpo no estaba diseñado para tener una enorme cantidad de peso o volumen y se comienza a forzar a todos los órganos.

cientes hipertensión, diabetes o cáncer, mismos que a su vez pueden ayudar a mantener el sobrepeso, por ello se necesita entender la crisis en el interior y su manifestación en la forma de vivir.

“Muchas veces se busca un aislamiento físico, para tener un aislamiento emocional, a veces a través de consumir calorías se busca satisfacer una necesidad o a sentirse más grato consigo mismo. El cuerpo se está somatizando y lo expresa con la megarexia”, agregó.

Opinó que otras afectaciones que se pueden sufrir son daño en todas las articulaciones, ya que también tienen sobre-esfuerzo, así como problemas circulatorios, tensión en los músculos y osteoporosis en los huesos.

TRATAMIENTOS

El especialista en Desarrollo Humano, José Alberto Martínez García, refirió que el tratamiento ideal para tratar la megarexia debe ser integral para el paciente: incluir una dieta, el movimiento diario, ejercicios que le ayuden a respirar mejor y complementarlo con tratamiento emocional y psicológico.

“Una mala respiración es de las cosas que nos mantienen atrapados; en nuestra historia creímos que dejando de respirar o respirando de una manera en particular íbamos a evitar sentir dolor, desprecio, desamor y entonces ahí empezamos a entrar a la etapa emocional”, manifestó.

Reiteró que gracias a la mala respiración estamos restringiendo nuestro espacio y nuestra capacidad pulmonar y ello a su vez limita la función de todos los órganos porque no hay una buena oxigenación.

“Las herramientas idóneas a utilizar son: acercarse a un psicoanalista, psicólogo o psiquiatra, para que hagan una revisión para determinar que tipo de enfermedad emocional es por la que esta atravesando el paciente”, recomendó.

Así mismo remarcó las revisiones médicas con un especialista, un internista o endocrinólogo, para conocer el equilibrio de los bioquímicos del cuerpo, que se identifican por medio de una serie de estudios de laboratorio y en base a los resultados determinar cuál seria el proceso para encontrar un equilibrio.

señales del desequilibrio o descompensación.

SÍNTOMAS Y ESPECIALISTAS

El psicoanalista afirmó que consumen muchos alimentos con alto grado de calorías, y no necesariamente dulces, también pueden ser ácidos y salados; las calorías en la interpretación del cuerpo tiene que ver con esta conexión emocional con otras personas o con uno mismo.

“Cuando yo tengo esta dificultad en las relaciones interpersonales, busco suplirlas a través de los alimentos, a través del consumismo.

Los hombres suelen ingerir líquidos con alto nivel calórico como las bebidas alcohólicas y lo justifican pensando que no están comiendo dulce”, advirtió.

Apuntó que la megarexia al requerir de un tratamiento integral se debe consultar varias especialistas, como los psicólogos, psiquiatras y terapeutas; la diferencia será el tipo de técnica que utilicen para el paciente.

“Mucha gente se esta quedando en la creencia, de que si visita al psiquiatra es porque esta loco, y no necesariamente es así, hay muchas cosas que podemos hacer, pero necesitamos de estos especialistas para poder restablecer el sistema en el interior”, refirió.

Aseveró que el psiquiatra decide de acuerdo a las necesidades que presente el paciente.

Y a veces no se inmiscuye en toda la historia de la persona; es ahí donde entra el psicólogo y empieza a ver toda la parte emocional;

sin embargo, su limitante es en la parte donde no esta equilibrado al cuerpo completamente.

“Los psicoterapeutas usamos la parte del cuerpo e incluimos la parte del alma, del espíritu, para decir este ser es holístico, no es solamente psique, o sólo cuerpo, es todo y más allá, podemos darle un refuerzo y un equilibrio”, resaltó.

Recalcó que hay varias soluciones hoy en día para consultar la terapia médica psicológica por separado, sino un conjunto de todas para lograr un equilibrio.

El especialista en terapia clínica recomendó mantenerse en movimiento, es decir, practicar alguna disciplina que incluya la respiración, donde se requiera llevar la capacidad del cuerpo a su límite real, natación, yoga, tai chi, bicicleta, para lograr una conexión interna.

“Si todos fuéramos desde muy temprana edad emocionalmente más equilibrados lograríamos muchas cosas y no estaríamos en esta lucha o búsqueda de lograr cosas mejores o estar en competencia, sino en esta ayuda mutua, respeto, empatía y eso es lo que realmente se logra buscando nuestro equilibrio”, finalizó.

The procedures to improve the appearance of the ears began in the eighteenth century, for this they have sought to do many things in an attempt to improve their aesthetics; currently certified plastic surgeons use a summary of the best and most decisive to return to the ear a harmonious appearance.

The ear is a three-dimensional structure that comes out of the skull, with a slight separation from it, its function is the parabolic reception of sounds to capture them and to enter the external auditory conductor, the ear, explained the specialist in Plastic Surgery, Aesthetics and Reconstructive, Vidkar Iván Campos Martínez.

“The eyecup does have an intimate relationship with the inner ear, that is, the internal auditory canal, which has a cartilaginous portion and a bony portion and inward which are the structures of the inner ear,” he explained.

He added that to achieve its function there is otoplasty, which as such, can also have aesthetic purposes; in such a way that it improves its form and appearance; as well as supporting separation and angulation.

REASONS FOR THE OTOPLASTY

The specialist added, the main two reasons why the ear should be operated; number one, a large separation of the skull, the former, by an excess in the size of the auricular cartilage, that is, the cartilage of the auricular shell.

The other, he noted, is due to problems in the lack of formation of the folds and notches that normally should form the entire ear.

“Sometimes there is not a good formation and the ear has a smooth appearance and then it is convenient to give it those reliefs that it must naturally have, since everything has its function; The sound that hits the ear has as its objective to reach a common area, that is, the auditory canal. That’s why the ear is designed like that,” he explained.

THE PROCEDURE

The otoplasty is performed by means of a surgery, its objective to improve the appearance, which can have alterations in its form due to complications of congenital type, acquired by trauma, accident, or some wound or bite.

“Other reasons to perform this intervention is in patients undergoing surgery for cancer of the ear or skin cancer in the ear, where there has been a need to remove a segment of skin and cartilage from the ear; in these cases we would speak of a reconstruction,” he said.

He revealed that the procedure consists of making a very discreet wound, up to four centimeters in the back of the ear; separate the skin, the tissue that is under the skin and expose the cartilage structure and the cartilaginous frame; Once the above is done, the changes can be made, so that the ear obtains a better shape, position, angulation, separation in general and has a better appearance.

“It is very important to note that this procedure is aimed at externally changing the ear, it must always be done by a certified plastic surgeon, who has full knowledge of surgical techniques.

“Above all, first you need to correctly detect the diagnosis because ear surgery does not consist only of doing it backwards, this should bee very clear,” he said.

On the other hand, he said, another complication can be a secondary deformity or a poor correction of what is attempted in a first performance of badly practiced otoplasty.

“Many times it is usually to perform the procedure in an unfit place, with poor lighting, in conditions not suitable for surgery or in inexperienced hands,” stressed the doctor.

He noted that the duration of the surgery depends on what changes are made in each case, because it can be from a relatively fast surgery that can be in 45 minutes or become one of more than two and a half hours.

The above mentioned, will be rooted in the degree of complexity in each patient and the changes that have to be made in it.

FOR YOUR PREPARATION

Campos Martínez added that, as with all surgery, a previous assessment in the office is very important, in order to determine exactly which type of technique to use.

“The preparation that is done is very basic and elementary, normally exams are requested as blood tests and in some cases we ask for preoperative assessments, to see what the patient’s conditions are,” he explained.

He described that it is a surgery that is done with local anesthesia and some sedation for the patient’s tranquility, because it is a procedure in which it is convenient to prepare the person with all the studies to be sure that everything will come out well, that is, make sure you are in good health.

There are cases in which a patient has the ear well in terms of size and separation and comes asking to be operated, it, this should not be done.

Los procedimientos para mejorar el aspecto de las orejas inició en el siglo XVIII, para ello se ha buscado hacer muchas cosas en un intento de mejorar su estética; en la actualidad los cirujanos plásticos certificados utilizan un resumen de lo mejor y más resolutivo para devolver a la oreja una apariencia armónica.

La oreja es una estructura tridimensional que se sale del cráneo, con una ligera separación de ésta, su función es la recepción parabólica de los sonidos para captarlos y que entren al conducto auditivo externo, el oído, así explicó el especialista en Cirugía Plástica, Estética y Reconstructiva, Vidkar Iván Campos Martínez.

“La oreja, sí tiene una íntima relación con el oído interno, es decir, el conducto auditivo interno, que tiene una porción cartilaginosa y una porción ósea y hacia el interior que son las estructuras del oído interno”, explicó.

Añadió que para lograr su función existe la otoplastia, misma que como tal, también puede tener fines estéticos; de tal manera que mejore su forma y apariencia; así como apoyar la separación y angulación.

RAZONES PARA LA OTOPLASTIA

El especialista agregó, las principales dos razones por las que la oreja debe ser operada: número uno, una gran separación del cráneo, lo anterior, por un exceso en el tamaño del cartílago auricular, es decir, del cartílago de la concha auricular.

La otra, señaló, es debido a problemas en la falta de formación de los pliegues y escotaduras que normalmente se deben de formar en toda la oreja.

“Hay veces que no hay una buena formación y la oreja tiene un aspecto liso y entonces conviene darle esos relieves que naturalmente debe de tener, pues todo tiene su función; el sonido que pega en la oreja tiene como objetivo llegar a una zona común, es decir, el conducto auditivo. Por eso está diseñada así la oreja”, detalló.

EL PROCEDIMIENTO

La otoplastia se realiza por medio de una cirugía, su objetivo, mejorar la apariencia, misma que puede tener alteraciones en su forma por complicaciones de tipo congénito, adquiridas por trauma, accidente, o alguna herida o mordedura.

“Otras razones para realizar dicha intervención es en pacientes sometidos a cirugía por cáncer en la oreja o por cáncer de piel en la oreja, donde ha habido necesidad de quitar

un segmento de piel y cartílago de la oreja; en estos casos se hablaría de una reconstrucción”, destacó.

Reveló que el procedimiento consiste en hacer una herida muy discreta, de hasta cuatro centímetros en la parte posterior de la oreja; separar la piel, el tejido que se encuentra debajo de la piel y exponer la estructura de cartílago y el marco cartilaginoso; una vez hecho lo anterior, se pueden hacer los cambios, para que la oreja obtenga una mejor forma, posición, angulación, separación en general y tenga una mejor apariencia.

“Es muy importante hacer notar que este procedimiento tiene como objetivo cambiar externamente la oreja, debe de ser realizado siempre por un cirujano plástico certificado, que tenga pleno conocimiento de las técnicas quirúrgicas.

“Sobre todo que se pueda primero detectar de manera co-

rrecta el diagnóstico porque la cirugía de orejas no consiste sólo en hacerlas hacia atrás, eso que quede bien claro”, puntualizó.

Y es que de acuerdo con el cirujano plástico hay muchas alteraciones en la forma de la oreja que es conveniente revisar a detalle, lo anterior para poder diagnosticar de manera precisa y realizar las correcciones pertinentes.

“Muchas veces en la cirugía de orejas hacemos una combinación de varias técnicas, en una sola intervención, por ello la importancia que el especialista que la realice tenga conocimiento basto del tema, de tal manera que pueda hacer un diagnóstico preciso; de ser así, se ofrecerá el mejor resultado para cada persona”, arguyó.

que existen algunas complicaciones, sobre todo en el cuidado de las heridas postoperatorias, como el control de sangrado.

“El sangrado o un hematoma, son las principales complicaciones inmediatas, el último, es la acumulación de sangre entre la piel y el cartílago, si es muy grande, a veces, es necesario volver a intervenir al paciente; abrir la herida y sacar el coágulo y revisar cual es el sitio que lo ocasionó”, aseguró.

Por otra parte, dijo, otra complicación puede ser una deformidad secundaria o una pobre corrección de lo que se intentó hacer en una primera realización de otoplastia mal practicada.

“Muchas veces suele pasar al realizar el procedimiento en un lugar no apto, con pobre iluminación, en condiciones no aptas para una cirugía o en manos inexpertas”, recalcó el médico.

Apuntó que la duración de la cirugía depende de cuáles sean los cambios a realizar en cada caso, porque puede ser desde una cirugía relativamente rápida que pueda quedar en 45 minutos o convertirse en una de más de dos horas y media.

Lo anterior, señaló, radicará en el grado de complejidad de cada paciente y los cambios que se tengan que realizar en éste.

FICHA MÉDICA

PARA SU PREPARACIÓN

Campos Martínez añadió que al igual que todas las cirugías es muy importante una previa valoración en el consultorio, para de esta manera determinar exactamente cual es el tipo de técnica a utilizar.

“La preparación que se hace es muy básica y elemental, normalmente se piden los exámenes como los de sangre y en algunos casos pedimos valoraciones preoperatorias, para ver las condiciones del paciente”, expuso.

Describió que es una cirugía que se realiza con anestesia local y algo de sedación para tranquilidad del paciente, pues no deja de ser un procedimiento en el cual es conveniente preparar a la persona con todos los estudios para tener la seguridad de que todo va a salir bien, es decir, asegurarse de que goza de un buena salud.

NO RECOMENDABLE POR PURO CAPRICHO

Existen casos en los que algún paciente tiene bien la oreja en cuanto a su tamaño y la separación y llega pidiendo que se las opere, ello, erróneamente se debería de hacer.

“Es decir, la oreja tiene sus indicaciones muy precisas para ser operadas, entonces dice es que yo la quiero más pegada, bueno ya estará a juicio del cirujano el aceptar o no tal procedimiento; yo considero que si la oreja tiene un buen tamaño, proyección, forma, no se debe de tocar; porque entonces podemos ocasionar más problemas o deformidades secundarias que en un futuro se van a notar”, subrayó.

El especialista argumento que a los 6 años de edad la oreja tiene entre el 85 y el 90 por ciento del tamaño que va a tener en su vida adulta, y que a partir de ese momento se puede realizar la corrección, en el caso de los niños que tienen una oreja muy separada.

“Si esta sobre proyectada, muy visible o separada, eventualmente coincide con la entrada al colegio de los menores, en donde muy probable ser objeto de burla o víctimas del llamado bullying, de ahí la recomendación a esa edad”, promovió.

Apuntó que en los casos infantiles, éstos normalmente responden muy bien al procedimiento, pues cooperan mucho y es un buen momento en su opinión, porque los tejidos cicatrizan muy bien.

caciones al pie de la letra, a veces se van al gimnasio antes de tiempo y realizan otras cosas que pudieran afectar el resultado”, mencionó.

RESULTADOS EVIDENTES

El cirujano plástico certificado aseguró la importancia de llevar a acabo los cuidados postoperatorios, así como seguir las indicaciones de los cuidados de la herida e inhabilitarse por los menos de tres a seis semanas.

“Además de alejarse de ejercicios físicos, para evitar probables traumatismos e inflamación en herida; básicamente son cuidados en casa, como tratar de dormir con la cabecera de la cama un poco elevada, para que ésta no se mueva hacia ningún lado, pues hay que dormir derecho”, apuntó.

Destacó también las principales ventajas, como el devolver a la oreja una forma mucho más natural y armoniosa, con respecto a la estructura de la cara; que tenga la separación correcta o alineada tal como debe de ser.

“Hay casos muy difíciles y complejos, con gran cantidad de cartílago en la concha auricular que la hace exageradamente grande y es en esos casos donde es necesario remover una parte de ese cartílago, colocar un sistema de suturas internas para su corrección”, explicó.

Sin embargo, agregó, en esos casos como el cartílago es una estructura semiflexible y puede llegar a tener memoria, existe la posibilidad de algunos movimientos milimétricos

en el resultado original.

“Es decir, que sí se puedan ver con el tiempo, sin embargo una buena cirugía de orejas no debería de tener una recidiva (repetición de una enfermedad) de la separación de las orejas, éstas se deben quedar en el sitio donde las acomoda el cirujano”, ratificó.

LA IMPORTANCIA DE ASISTIR CON PROFESIONALES

El especialista en cirugía plástica, estética y reconstructiva, Vidkar Campos Martínez, insistió en la importancia de realizar dicha intervención en manos especializadas en la materia.

“Todo parte de acercarse con la persona correcta, al realizar alguna modificación en la apariencia, como la otoplastia, se debe tomar en cuanta que es una estructura que no podemos tapar, será visible ante los ojos de los demás, por ello, es importante acercarse con el profesional correcto para obtener el mejor resultado”, ratificó Añadió que en cirugía de orejas, nariz o párpados, si no se realiza con un cirujano plástico certificado, no se garantiza un buen resultado.

“Este tipo de procedimientos con cirujanos no certificados no tiene riesgos graves de salud, sin embargo, sí lo son desde el punto de vista estético; me ha tocado ver muy malos trabajos en consultorios que resultan en un terminado estéticamente muy mal y que difícilmente se puede corregir o resolver con una cirugía bien realizada por parte de los que somos expertos”, finalizó.

Por esta razón, hasta hace algunos años, a muchas personas les tenían que retirar el útero y con ello, desafortunadamente, perdían la oportunidad de ser madres o producir hormonas, pero los médicos descubrieron un tratamiento efectivo y seguro para darle solución a este problema de salud pública.

“Un neuroradiólogo francés –trabajando con un equipo de ginecólogos– tenía a una paciente con unos miomas

que estaban sangrando mucho. Se les ocurrió que si tapaban la circulación de las arterias uterinas se detendría la hemorragia mientras la operaban.

“Al paso del tiempo se dieron cuenta que los fibromas se habían reducido de tamaño, que el sangrado se quitó y entonces aquella maniobra se pensó como una alternativa viable de tratamiento, pues ya no fue necesario realizar la cirugía.

“Es así que desde 1994 hasta la fecha es una excelente opción. Más o menos en Estados Unidos se tratan de unos 130 a 150 mil pacientes por año, de embolización uterina”, refirió Víctor Humberto Salas Mejía, radiólogo intervencionista del Hospital Santander de Reynosa.

RELACIÓN OBESIDAD

“El exceso de peso en el organismo sí es un factor pivote que puede desencadenarlos; sin embargo, no en todos los casos se presentan síntomas pero, por lo general, la primer manifestación que van a dar es sangrado transvaginal y sangrado anormal.

“Esto quiere decir que una paciente puede presentar sangrado cuando no le toca su periodo, o el día que lo tenga, el sangrado es excesivo, más de lo común. “Éste es un indicio en mujeres con miomas. El otro cuadro es que estas bolitas o tumores en el útero pueden ir aumentando de tamaño y comprimir estructuras que están ahí, originando otras molestias”, advirtió Salas Mejía.

El especialista expresó que dichas tumefacciones en algunos casos empujan partes del organismo como la vejiga, o el colon y, dependiendo de lo que estén comprimiendo va a ser la sintomatología, como estreñimiento e infecciones de vías urinarias de repetición.

–¿Qué tan factible es que un mioma pueda convertirse en sarcoma?

“Como tal es una tumefacción que consideramos benigna; empero como el 0.4 por ciento de todas las pacientes con nódulos o tumoraciones en la matriz puede ser que tengan un sarcoma.

“No significa que el mioma se haya transformado en cáncer, sino que simplemente hubo una tumoración que siempre fue maligna”, sopesó.

Este radiólogo intervencionista también reconoció que el crecimiento de fibromas puede ser simultáneo durante la etapa de gestación.

“Estas bolitas salen a partir del músculo del útero y pueden estar desde antes, durante o aumentarse con las hormonas del embarazo de una manera significativa.

“En algunas ocasiones es en ese periodo cuando las descubrimos, pero no es que por el embarazo se hayan generado”, aclaró.

MÉTODOS Y SOLUCIONES

Salas Mejía ponderó que convencionalmente existen procedimientos médicos para atacar los miomas, que van desde bloqueadores de hormonas hasta

las operaciones y la embolización.

“En el caso de los primeros por lo regular el tratamiento se aplica en pacientes que tienen la patología y que se encuentran en una etapa que llamamos perimenopáusica. Eso quiere decir que están por arriba de los 40 años de edad, próximos a estar en la menopausia y a no tener periodos menstruales.

“De modo que buscamos no someterlas a un riesgo quirúrgico y le damos tratamiento médico, que generalmente no debe de excederse más de seis meses.

“Pero esto conlleva a los riesgos de utilizar medicamentos. Los hormonales generalmente están relacionados con eventos de trombosis y pueden estimular otros tipos de crecimientos”, ilustró.

El otro método, agregó el médico, es la histerectomía, que significa quitar la matriz por completo.

“No para todas las pacientes es una opción, pero es el tratamiento convencional. Otra de las alternativas es la miomectomía, que es hacer una cirugía o procedimiento quirúrgico, ya sea por laparoscopía, o abierto, una cirugía convencional y remover el mioma de la pared del útero.

“Y la otra alternativa, que es de la que estamos hablando el día de hoy es la embolización: es un método que va a ser, mediante un acceso vascular, una punción de unos cuantos milímetros, que generalmente es en la ingle; pasamos un catéter muy flexible y llegamos a la arteria que está nutriendo el útero”, indicó.

Salas Mejía manifestó que se llega a la vena mediante métodos de imagen, lo cual le permite a los doctores tener

un panorama muy acertado para atender a las pacientes.

El especialista en prostodoncia, Sergio Arturo Armas Santillán mencionó que esto los lleva a padecer problemas periodontales y caries, hasta la pérdida de los dientes.

Sobre ésto dijo que, muchas personas ven como algo normal la ausencia de piezas dentales, pero no lo es.

“La odontología ha ido evolucionando a través de los años, actualmente se enfoca en la prevención y en preservar la mayor cantidad de tiempo los dientes en boca”, expresó.

En su gran mayoría estos casos derivan por el consumo de alimentos o bebidas en mal estado que son portadoras de alguna contaminación ambiental, virus o bacteria y con menor frecuencia por la presencia de parásitos o compuestos químicos que provocan una reacción en el organismo.

De acuerdo con Humberto Pérez Márquez las infecciones suelen desaparecer por sí mismas, por lo que no necesariamente son graves; sin embargo, este médico por la Universidad Valle de México (UVM), mencionó la importancia de tampoco subestimar los malestares del sistema digestivo.

Recomendó acudir al doctor para una valoración, ya que en los casos más extremos puede tratarse de tifoidea, salmonelosis, toxoplasmosis y hasta hepatitis viral tipo A. Afirmó que es común ver en su consultorio de medicina familiar pacientes con

problemas estomacales, especialmente durante las temporadas que hace más calor.

“Yo creo que más del 80 por ciento de las infecciones se autolimitan, aunque no necesariamente se contraen por medio de las bacterias. Una persona también puede contaminarse a través de químicos en alimentos y sobre todo en los vegetales, como los pesticidas”, refirió.

SINTOMATOLOGÍA

Los signos más comunes para identificar una infección del estomago en base a la ingesta de comida o líquidos son la diarrea, el vómito o el dolor de barriga.

“Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), la definición de diarrea, que muchas veces se malinterpreta, es la evacuación líquida en al menos tres veces al día.

TIPO DE CONTAGIO

Este médico mencionó que las ETA no se traspasan directamente entre los humanos; sin embargo, los desechos que los humanos vierten al medio ambiente sí pueden provocarlas.

“Por lo general la gente se enferma y sana por el medio fecal–oral. Eso quiere decir que ingerimos las bacterias o el virus, y que al momento de hacer la evacuación salen por ahí.

“La contaminación muchas veces se encuentra en el ambiente, ya que hay mucha gente que deja sus desechos en la calle y andan volando las bacterias”, expresó.

Los animales que defecan, que mueren en la vía pública o los residuos de aguas negras de drenaje también son un foco de infección en microorganismos.

“Flotan en las partículas de viento y luego le echamos la culpa a los taquitos. No es tanto que no haya higiene por parte de los restaurantes donde acudimos, sino que las bacterias están en el aire y esto es lo que afecta”, reiteró.

“A veces, aunque la fecha de caducidad diga una cosa, se echan a perder por los climas tan extremos. Eso es lo que nos puede afectar, especialmente con las diarreas”, dijo.

Pérez Márquez expresó que algunos bichos como las moscas y cucarachas son otra fuente de infección para que alguien se enferme del estómago. Por ello, reconoció, los cinco sentidos son un buen medio para revisar lo que se ingiere.

“Realmente la carne es muy difícil saber si está o no bien cocida. Los vegetales hay que tratar de lavarlos bien, hervirlos y ponerle sus gotitas de desinfectante”, recalcó.

NO AUTOMEDICARSE

Si bien las personas con enfermedades transmitidas por alimentos mejoran por sí mismas, tampoco es recomendable únicamente ingerir medicamentos para paliar el dolor y no asistir al doctor, porque en vez de ayudar al paciente pueden traerle complicaciones.

“Por ejemplo, los antidiarreicos están contraindicados. Pueden incluso paralizar los intestinos, perforarlos, por la infección.

Lo que hacen es disminuir el movimiento estomacal y si la persona trae una infección fuerte corre el riesgo de que se le dañe la mucosa intestinal y presente una per-

foración, por eso no se recomiendan tanto.

“Lo único que hay que darles es tratamiento paliativo, para el malestar estomacal e hidratarlos. Al cabo de los tres días mejoran, pero si continúan con sus evacuaciones líquidas ya se puede considerar como algo más grave, y entonces sí se inicia un tratamiento con antibiótico”, abundó.

Otros de los síntomas que en algunos casos aparecen (además del dolor estomacal, la diarrea o el vómito) son dolor de cabeza, temperatura y hasta alergia cutánea y subcutánea.

“Estamos hablando de un 10 por ciento que puede agravarse y si no se trata la deshidratación eso sí nos puede provocar un ‘shock’ bulímico y empeorarse el paciente.

“Dependiendo qué tipo de bacteria sea es el antibiótico que debe de administrarse, así como la terapia y el riesgo de

By editorial “Reynosa is the city that generates more jobs in Tamaulipas, 50 percent of all new jobs are generated in our city, we have the conditions to continue being a municipality that creates jobs,” said municipal mayor Maki Esther Ortiz.

“Reynosa es la ciudad que más genera empleos en Tamaulipas, el 50 por ciento de éstos se generan en nuestra ciudad, tenemos las condiciones para que sigamos siendo un municipio creador de empleo”, afirmó la alcaldesa municipal Maki Esther Ortiz.

En el año 2018, hasta el mes de noviembre en Reynosa se crearon 19 mil 700 empleos, que significa la mitad de todo el Estado.

“Los últimos tres años se ha incrementado la creación de empleos y tenemos becas para nuestros estudiantes, que benefician su preparación para que accedan a mejores empleos y contribuyan a la economía familiar y a la de nuestro municipio”, dijo la presidenta municipal.

Actualmente esta frontera cuenta con más de mil quinientas vacantes, lo que revela necesidad en mano de obra, pero no un déficit en empleo como sucede en otros municipios del país.

La atención y facilidades del gobierno municipal de Reynosa contribuye enormemente al crecimiento económico de la ciudad, considerando también las condiciones de estabilidad laboral, su ubicación geográfica, al ser puerta internacional a uno de los estados más productivos de la Unión Americana y su cercanía al mar.

a warning sign

Who has not suffered from high temperature? The truth is that virtually everyone, but there are different reasons that can originate it, and although it is a sign of health that is usually stabilized with some tablets, in the most extreme cases a high temperature treated wrongly can cause organic damage.

By José Manuel Meza Reynosa Tam. Fever is the symptom of a disease either by bacteria, by a virus and, among other causes, by reactions to medications, heat stroke, dehydration, excessive exercise, some tumors, diseases and certain vaccines.

According to Varinia Arias Lumbreras, a general practitioner from the Universidad Valle de México (UVM) and who works in a family practice, temperature is one of the most common reasons for doctor visits.

“Everyone can get it at some point in their life, because fever does not respect age, sex or origin, but it is very important to identify it, since one can be doing physical activity and obviously you can raise the temperature to certain degrees but does not mean that this is fever as such,” she said.

For this purpose, she recommended that a digital or mercury type thermometer should always be available at home.

“The fever is determined in two ways: in the rectal area it has to be above 38 degrees and in the armpit to 37.5. Can you control it? yes, but you have to look for the origin to attack the disease and therefore will yield with some of the medicines that we already know.

“The most commercials are acetaminophen, ibuprofen, acetylsalicylic acid and dipyrone. These drugs are over-the-counter and can be administered in children or adults, but as long as a dose is respected and not selfadministered,” she said.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Arias Lumbreras suggested that when someone presents a feverish picture go to your doctor to assess it, make a clinical history and find the source to counteract it.

She especially said that visiting the doctor is very important in children and babies.

“Parents are very prone to go to the pharmacies to ask for medicines for the fever, but many times in the boxes there is not a dose of how to apply them and people give them according to how they were advised by their neighbor, the aunt or in their time the pediatrician or general practitioner, but as the children grow, the dose changes,” she said.

The interviewee said that fever can usually be accompanied by other discomforts.

“The person can also feel with a cut body, sore throat, inflammation, weakness, dehydration, but depending on the origin or illness are the symptoms that they will give us, including fever,” she added.

COMPLICATIONS

When asked what might happen in case someone does not treat a fever, the doctor said that it can lead to dehydration and seizures.

“We are well aware that most cases are viral or bacterial agents, which usually does not complicate the disease or the cause of fever, but if it is the case we would ha-

“Normally when you start to feel bad, you tend to take medicine and try to control it, but you have to be very aware of children under five years of age, because those with a febrile syndrome can convulse after a certain temperature level. We are talking about very high ranges of 39 and 40 degrees,” she said.

In the most extreme cases, she noted, the temperature can cause a malfunction of organs such as the heart.

“When there is fever there will obviously be general discomfort. It increases what is the work or cardiorespiratory function, what is the heart or lungs to compensate this symptomatology that the patient has.

“If a person comes to what is dehydra-

tion there could be more complications, and fail of the organs could happen,” she said.

PREVENTION

However, Dr. Arias Lumbreras said that thermometers today have very affordable costs and are a very useful tool to detect a fever in time.

“In fact, there are mercury and digital ones, which do not cost more than 100 pesos. And what I recommend is that if there are small children at home you have a digital one, because the mercury comes in glass, can be broken, the mercury is released and at high doses it produces intoxication,” she recommended.

As for typhoid fever, foot-and-mouth disease, rheumatic fever, yellow fever, malt fever, chikungunya or mediterranean botonosa fever, Arias Lumbreras stressed that the temperature itself is one.

“It is the symptom before a physiological response of the body. There are no differences in fever, but simply in the cause. In this case they can be caused by bacteria, by viruses, by excess heat or by some disease, because these are etiologies, diseases,” she explained.

She added that during the winter season it is advisable to be vaccinated and vitaminized to prevent diseases that can cause fever.

“Hydration is very important, but not with juices or soft drinks or energy drinks. They have to be oral electrolytes, serum or water as such,” she explained. And she said that when you do not have medicine at the moment to lower the fever it is valid to use home remedies to reduce the discomfort.

“Those are the physical means. They can be applied yes, but neither should they be with ice water. They will help to lower the fever, but as long as the origin is not removed, it will only be controlled.

“In young children the recommendation for physical means are in forehead, neck, armpits and groin, which is where the thermoregulatory centers are, applying a damp cloth to lower the temperature and at the first opportunity go to the doctor,” she said.

And although usually a fever is not the cause of a person in terms of stable health is serious, it is a warning signal, so it is important to identify with the doctor the discomforts that revolve around it to remove it from the root.

¿Quién no ha sufrido de alta temperatura? La verdad es que prácticamente todos, pero existen diferentes razones que la pueden originar y, aunque es un indicio de salud que normalmente se estabiliza con unas tabletas, en los casos más extremos una calentura mal cuidada puede provocar daños orgánicos.

Por José Manuel Meza Reynosa, Tam. La fiebre es el síntoma de una enfermedad ya sea por una bacteria, por un virus y, entre otras causas, por reacciones a medicamentos, golpes de calor, deshidratación, ejercicio excesivo, algunos tumores, enfermedades y ciertas vacunas.

De acuerdo con Varinia Arias Lumbreras, médico general por la Universidad Valle de México (UVM) y quien se desempeña en un consultorio de medicina familiar, la temperatura es uno de los motivos más comunes de visitas al doctor.

“Todos pueden llegar a padecerla en algún momento de su vida, porque la fiebre no respeta edad, sexo ni origen, pero es bien importante identificarla, ya que uno puede estar haciendo actividad física y obviamente se puede elevar la temperatura a ciertos grados pero no quiere decir que esto sea fiebre como tal”, mencionó.

Para ello recomendó que siempre se tenga a la mano en casa un termómetro de tipo digital o de mercurio.

“La fiebre se determina de dos maneras: en la zona rectal tiene que estar arriba de los 38 grados y en la axilar superior a los 37.5. Se puede controlar, sí, pero hay que buscar el origen para a atacar la enfermedad y por ende va a ceder con algunos de los medicamentos que ya conocemos.

“Lo más comercial es el paracetamol, el ibuprofeno, el ácido ace-

tilsalicílico y la dipirona. Estos fármacos son de venta libre y pueden administrarse en los niños o en los adultos, pero siempre y cuando se respete una dosis y no automedicarlo”, expresó.

RECOMENDACIONES

Arias Lumbreras sugirió que cuando alguien presente un cuadro febril acuda con su médico para que lo valore, le haga una historia clínica y busque el origen para contrarrestarla. Especialmente dijo que la visita al doctor es primordial en los niños y bebés.

“Los papás son muy dados a ir a las farmacias a pedir medicamentos para la fiebre, pero muchas veces en las cajas no viene una dosis de como aplicarlos y la gente se los da según como les aconsejó la vecina, la tía o en su tiempo el pediatra o médico general, pero conforme los niños van creciendo la dosis cambia”, enfatizó.

acompañada de otros malestares.

“La persona puede también sentirse con cuerpo cortado, dolor de garganta, inflamación, debilidad, deshidratación, pero según el origen o la enfermedad son los síntomas que nos van a dar, incluyendo la fiebre”, agregó.

COMPLICACIONES

Ante la pregunta de qué podría pasar en caso de que alguien no se atienda una fiebre, la doctora comentó que puede derivar en deshidratación y convulsiones.

“Estamos muy conscientes que la mayoría de los casos son por agentes virales o bacterianos, que no suele complicarse la enfermedad o la causa de la fiebre, pero si es el caso tendríamos que aplicar medicamentos más específicos.

“Normalmente cuando uno empieza a sentirse mal acostumbra a tomar medicina y trata de controlarlo, pero sí hay que estar muy al pendiente de los menores de cinco años, porque esos por un síndrome

febril pueden convulsionar después de cierto nivel de temperatura. Estamos hablando de rangos muy altos de 39 y 40 grados”, comparó.

En los casos más extremos, señaló, la temperatura puede provocar un mal funcionamiento de los órganos como el corazón.

“Cuando hay fiebre obviamente habrá malestar general. Aumenta lo que es el trabajo o la función cardiorespiratoria, lo que es el corazón o pulmones para compensar esta sintomatología que tiene el paciente.

“Si una persona llega a lo que es la deshidratación pueden venir más complicaciones: que fallen los órganos”, advirtió.

PREVENCIÓN

Sin embargo, la doctora Arias Lumbreras expresó que los termómetros hoy en día tienen costos muy accesibles y son una herramienta muy útil para detectar a tiempo una fiebre.

“De hecho están los de mercurio y los digitales, que no cuestan más de 100 pesos. Y lo que yo recomiendo es que si en casa hay niños chiquitos se tenga uno digital, porque los de mercurio vienen en cristal, se pueden romper, se sale el mercurio y a dosis altas éste produce una intoxicación”, recomendó.

En cuanto a las denominadas fiebres tifoidea, aftosa, reumática, amarilla, malta, chikungunya o botonosa mediterránea, Arias Lumbreras recalcó que la temperatura en sí es una sola.

“Es el síntoma ante una respuesta fisiológica del cuerpo.

No hay diferencias de fiebre, sino simplemente de la causa. En este caso puede ser por bacterias, por virus, por excesos de calor o por algún padecimiento, porque esas son etiologías, enfermedades”, explicó.

Y agregó que durante la temporada invernal es recomendable estar vacunados y vitaminados para prevenir las enfermedades que pueden producir la fiebre.

“La hidratación es muy importante, pero no con jugos ni refrescos ni bebidas energéticas. Tienen que ser electrolitos orales, suero o agua como tal”, detalló.

Y dijo que cuando no se tiene de momento medicamento para bajarse la fiebre es válido utilizar remedios caseros para disminuir el malestar.

“Esos son los medios físicos.

Pueden aplicarse sí, pero tampoco deben de ser con agua helada.

Van a ayudar a bajar la fiebre, pero mientras no se quite el origen ésta solamente se va a controlar.

“En niños chiquitos la recomendación para los medios físicos son en frente, cuello, axilas e ingle, que es donde están los centros termoreguladores, aplicando un paño húmedo para disminuir la temperatura y en la primera oportunidad acudir al médico”, aseguró.

Y aunque por lo general una fiebre no es la causa de que una persona en términos de salud estable se ponga grave, sí es una señal de alerta, por lo cual es importante identificar con el doctor los malestares que giran en torno a ella para quitarla de raíz.

Esto gracias a las pláticas de concientización en las escuelas gracias a la Coordinación de Cultura del Agua de la Comapa, que visita a estudiantes desde preescolar hasta universidades, para tener una mejor ciudad y un futuro con sustentabilidad.

En las pláticas se explica a los estudiantes los esfuerzos por potabilizar el agua en las diferentes plantas, así como hacer llegar el líquido por kilómetros de tuberías hasta cada uno de sus hogares.

También, se les habla sobre el impacto que causan los desechos sólidos arrojados a la vía pública, tapando las alcantarillas y provocando los brotes de aguas residuales y encharcamientos.

The Celebration Committee prepares the organization of a very colorful event on March 21 for the ‘Winter Texans’ who visit this town on the Mexican border. Be Prepare!

By José Manuel Meza Nuevo Progreso, Tam. It is the day that begins the spring, when by tradition the vacationers of the coldest regions of the continent are ready to return to their places of origin, but not before being spoiled with a pleasant party in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico.

The vast majority of tourists take refuge for three to six months in South Texas, while the cold fall and winter passes on the north, but more and more people decide to stay longer and even to live.

Here in the region the ‘Winter Texans’ enjoy their retirement and live together with citizens from all the United States and Canada, with whom they forge new friendships.

But they also tend to go to the Mexican side, especially to a small town that has distinguished itself by offering a wide range of products and services to international tourism.

Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas, is a town with around 10 thousand inhabitants, where many cultural and culinary expressions of that Latin American country are concentrated. You do not have to go that far to try the delicious Mexican snacks.

But better still, medicine, dental and laboratory services cost much cheaper than in the United States.

Not in vain Nuevo Progreso is called the “medical tourism capital of Mexico”, because there have been transferred some of the most important certified doctors. The town has clinics, opticians, spas, pharmacies and a wide variety of medical services.

ALL IN THE SAME PLACE

It also has a gastronomic diversity, craft shops, wines, sweets and many other products.

That is why visitors from the United States and Canada regularly visit it while on vacation in Texas.

Even many of the same things cost much less crossing that corner of the border than in the American Union. For less than the price that a hamburger in Texas is worth, in Nuevo Progreso you can taste a dish of international food, for example.

Since the beginning of the fifties, a very

special atmosphere has been created for this place, since it is visited by Americans, Asians, Europeans and even African tourists who travel through the region. It is a humble town, but at the same time safe in which cultures of many latitudes converge.

And it is a tradition that every year tourists are celebrated, especially the ‘Winter Texans’, for the confidence they have in going to find a dentist in Nuevo Progreso, to spend a couple of hours in the salon or spa; to try

the food of one of its restaurants; to buy gifts for your family or a friend.

The hospitality of this territory, in which most shops are concentrated in a linear kilometer long (by the main avenue when passing the International Bridge) is everywhere.

Many of the people who attend front desk also speak English and visitors have the comfort of being well cared for.

PREPARE SURPRISES

Like all March 21, the date on which the

Day of the Tourist is celebrated, the Nuevo Progreso service providers and the government authorities entertain their visitors. They offer food, dance and live music.

“We are preparing them with the Nuevo Progreso delegation, the Rio Bravo municipal presidency, the Celebration Committee and all the merchants.

“Right now we are visiting the mayors of the cities of the Rio Grnade Valley of Texas to invite them to come and share with us,” said Cristina Hernández, member of the organizing team.

It is contemplated that the music band from the city of Matamoros will participate, and that there will be dances with members of the House of Culture and local schools as part of the artistic shows.

In the same way, a musical group is expected to live up the atmosphere. It will also be awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Tourism, to ratify the friendly relations that exist on both sides of the border.

Nuevo Progreso grew with the relocation of people after Hurricane Beulah in 1967 and later it became a town of medical tourism, which today serves up to 30 thousand people each year.

For now, it is ready to celebrate its visitors again, to whom it gives the most cordial welcome.

El Comité de Festejos prepara la organización de un evento muy colorido el próximo 21 de marzo para los ‘Winter Texans’ que visitan esta población de la frontera mexicana. ¡Prepárese!

La hospitalidad de este territorio, en el que la mayoría de las tiendas se concentran en un kilómetro lineal de longitud (por la avenida principal al pasar el Puente Internacional) se encuentra por todas partes.

Gran parte de las personas que atienden frente a mostrador hablan también inglés y los visitantes tienen la comodidad de ser bien atendidos.

Por José Manuel Meza Nuevo Progreso, Tam. Es el día que comienza la primavera, cuando por tradición los vacacionistas de las regiones más frías del continente se alistan para volver a sus lugares de origen, pero no sin antes ser consentidos con una placentera fiesta en Nuevo Progreso, México.

La gran mayoría de los turistas se refugian de tres a seis meses en el sur de Texas, mientras se alejan los fríos del otoño y el invierno, pero cada vez es mayor la cantidad de personas que deciden quedarse más tiempo e incluso para vivir.

Aquí en la región los ‘Winter Texans’ disfrutan de su retiro y conviven en compañía de ciudadanos de todos los Estados Unidos y Canadá, con los que forjan nuevas amistades.

Pero también suelen acudir hacia el lado mexicano, especialmente a un pequeño pueblo que se ha distinguido por ofrecer una amplia gama de productos y servicios al turismo internacional.

Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas, es una población con alrededor de 10 mil habitantes, en donde se concentran muchas expresiones culturales y culinarias de ese país latinoamericano. No se necesita ir tan lejos para probar los deliciosos antojitos mexicanos.

Pero mejor aún, los fármacos, los servicios médicos, dentales y de laboratorio cuestan mucho más baratos que en Estados Unidos.

No en vano Nuevo Progreso es denominada la “capital del turismo médico de México”, pues ahí se han trasladado algunos de los médicos certificados más importantes. El poblado cuenta con clínicas, consultorios, ópticas, spa’s, farmacias y toda una amplia variedad de servicios médicos.

También dispone de una diversidad gastronómica, de tiendas de artesanías, de vinos, dulces y muchos productos más.

Es por eso que los visitantes de Estados Unidos y Canadá lo frecuentan con regularidad mientras se encuentran de vacaciones en Texas.

Inclusive, muchas de las mismas cosas cuestan mucho menos cruzando a ese rincón de la frontera que en la Unión Americana. Por menos del precio que vale una hamburguesa en Texas, en Nuevo Progreso se puede degustar un platillo de comida internacional, por ejemplo.

Desde principios de la década de los cincuenta es que se ha creado una atmósfera muy especial para este lugar, pues es visitado por americanos, asiáticos, europeos y hasta turistas africanos que transitan por la región. Es un pueblo humilde, pero al mismo tiempo seguro en el que confluyen culturas de muchas latitudes.

Y ya es una tradición que cada año se festeje a los turistas, especialmente a los ‘Winter Texans’, por la confianza que tienen de ir a buscar un dentista a Nuevo Progreso, a pasar un par de horas en el salón o el spa; a probar la comida de alguno de sus restaurantes; a comprar obsequios para su familia o un amigo.

Como todos los 21 de marzo, fecha en que se celebra el Día del Turista, los prestadores de servicios de Nuevo Progreso y las autoridades del gobierno agasajan a sus visitantes. Les ofrecen comida, bailables y música en vivo.

“Los estamos preparando con la delegación de Nuevo Progreso, la presidencia municipal de Río Bravo, el Comité de Festejos y todos los comerciantes. Ahorita nos encontramos visitando a los alcaldes de las ciudades del Valle de Texas para invitarlos a venir a compartir con nosotros”, afirmó Cristina Hernández, miembro del equipo organizador.

Se tiene contemplado que participe la banda de música de la ciudad de Matamoros, y que haya bailables con integrantes de la Casa de la Cultura y las escuelas de la localidad como parte de los espectáculos artísticos.

De la misma forma se espera que amenice el ambiente un grupo musical. También se galardonará al señor y señora turismo, para ratificar las relaciones de amistad que existen hacia los dos lados de la frontera.

Nuevo Progreso creció con la reubicación de personas tras el huracán Beulah en el año de 1967 y posteriormente se convirtió en un pueblo de turismo médico, que hoy en día atiende hasta 30 mil personas cada año.

Por lo pronto, ya se alista para festejar nuevamente a sus visitantes, a quienes les da la más cordial bienvenida.

On February 4, the Dental Medical Tourism cluster had a meeting with federal legislators in the Chamber of Deputies in Mexico City to manage benefits in support of this town on the border between Tamaulipas and Texas.

Eva Lilia García de González, president of this organization, shared her experience representing Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas, in the legislative precinct of San Lázaro, where she was talking with congress persons to talk about the benefits of this tourist town and what is needed to be able to improve it The event was chaired by Congressman, Luis Alegre Salazar, president of the Tourism Commission. In fact, Mexico wants to consolidate itself as a destination for medical and health tourism, for which it is working on a joint project with the Mexican Council of the Medical Tourism Industry A.C.

The concept is also seeking greater recognition and a law that preponderate the general benefits of the offer that this kind of tourism represents.

Dr. Eva Lilia García de González had the opportunity to present a video to share the economic and cultural activities of Nuevo Progreso.

“It borders to the north of the Rio Grande Valley, where our economy comes from, because we depend on our visitors.

“Medical tourism is the one with the highest demand, favoring the pharmaceutical, artisan, gastronomic, beauty, entertainment and commerce industries in general. In five blocks we have all the commercial items,”

She said that the cluster is composed of certified professionals at the forefront of scientific knowledge and equipment, also offering good treatment and good prices.

“That places us as one of the preferred destinations for the United States. A declaration as a tourist town is necessary, with the legal responsibilities and benefits that this entails. To facilitate our certification we need signs in the main cities of Texas,” she added.

The Congress persons were also told of the importance of having a tax court that expedites the crossing of heavy transport.

“As a statistic, in 2017 we had a fluency of two and a half million pedestrians, while in 2018 it went up 2 percent and on February 4, 2019 there was an entrance of six thousand pedestrians.

“Nuevo Progreso has a high season called ‘Winter Texans’, but medical tourism has no time if we dissuade our strengths. Let’s work together Health is not an expense, but an investment, let’s bet on medical tourism,” García de González told lawmakers.

El pasado 4 de febrero el clúster de Turismo Médico Dental tuvo una reunión con legisladores federales en la Cámara de Diputados en la Ciudad de México para gestionar beneficios en apoyo a este poblado de la frontera entre Tamaulipas y Texas.

Eva Lilia García de González, presidenta de este organismo, compartió su experiencia representando a Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas, en el recinto legislativo de San Lázaro, donde estuvo dialogando con diputados para hablar de las bondades que tiene este pueblo turístico y qué se necesita para poder mejorarlo.

El evento estuvo presidido por el legislador, Luis Alegre Salazar, presidente de la Comisión de Turismo. También se encontraron diputados federales de otras entidades federativas y representantes de los clústers que pertenecen al Consejo Mexicano De la Industria del Turismo Médico, A.C., al mismo que está afiliado el de Nuevo Progreso desde hace más de una década.

tural, Religioso, Gastronómico y de Salud de la Comisión de Turismo.

De igual modo José Zeind Domínguez, coordinador de Turismo Médico del gobierno federal y Hugo López Gastell, subsecretario de Prevención y Promoción de la Secretaría de Salud.

METAS Y PROYECTOS

La reunión tuvo como propósito dar a conocer las perspectivas del turismo en México. Los presidentes de los clústers en la material pudieron compartir experiencias en una retroalimentación.

También destacaron las certificaciones con las que se cuenta para brindar confianza al público extranjero que visita los centros médicos de la nación.

De hecho México quiere consolidarse como un destino del turismo médico y de la salud, para lo cual se trabaja en un proyecto conjunto con el Consejo Mexicano De la Industria del Turismo Médico, A.C. El concepto está buscando también un mayor reconocimiento y una ley

que prepondere los beneficios generales de la oferta que esta clase de turismo representa.

La doctora Eva Lilia García de González tuvo la oportunidad de presentar un video para compartir el quehacer económico y cultural de Nuevo Progreso.

“Colinda al norte del Valle de Texas, de donde proviene permanentemente nuestra economía, ya que dependemos de nuestros visitantes.

“El turismo médico es el de mayor demanda, favoreciendo a las industrias farmacéutica, artesanal, gastronómica, de belleza, diversión y comercio en general. En cinco cuadras contamos con todos los rubros comerciales”, expresó en la Cámara de Diputados.

EN MANOS SEGURAS

Dijo que el clúster está integrado por profesionales certificados a la vanguardia en conocimientos científicos y equipo, ofreciendo además un buen trato y buenos precios.

“Eso nos coloca como uno de los

destinos preferidos por la Unión Americana y Canadá. Es necesaria una declaración como pueblo turístico, con las responsabilidades legales y beneficios que ello conlleva. Para facilitar nuestra certificación necesitamos señalamientos en las principales ciudades de Texas”, agregó.

También se habló ante los diputados de la importancia de tener un patio fiscal que agilice el cruce de transporte pesado.

“Como estadística, en 2017 tuvimos una fluencia de dos millones y medio de peatones, mientras que en 2018 subió un 2 por ciento y el 4 de febrero de 2019 hubo una entrada de seis mil peatones.

“Nuevo Progreso tiene una época alta denominada ‘Winter Texans’, pero el turismo médico no tiene época si damos disuasión a nuestras fortalezas.

Trabajemos unidos. La salud no es un gasto, sino una inversión, ¡apostemos al turismo médico!”, declaró a los legisladores García de González.
