Congratulations, 8th graders! Today marks a significant milestone in your academic journey. As you stand on the threshold of high school, remember to celebrate this achievement and all the hard work that has brought you to this moment. You have demonstrated resilience, determination, and a thirst for knowledge throughout your middle school years. As you move forward, carry these qualities with you and continue to pursue your passions with vigor. High school will present new challenges and opportunities for growth. Embrace them with open arms, knowing that you have the skills and capabilities to succeed. Stay curious, stay engaged, and never stop learning. Take pride in how far you’ve come, but also keep your eyes on the future. Dream big, set goals, and strive to make your mark on the world. Remember that each step you take is a building block toward a brighter and more fulfilling future.

This year’s promotion theme of “Your success is only determined by the amount of effort and commitment you decide to put into everything you choose to do” by Mr. Victor Cabrera is straightforward and empowering. Do not wait for opportunities. Instead, seek out or create those opportunities. Give it a 110%. Falling down is failing only if you choose not to get back up. Remember that only you can determine if you will succeed or not.

To my dear 8th Grade Promoting Class of 2024,

As you move on to the next chapter of your educational journey, I want to take a moment to proudly congratulate you on your promotion to high school! The years you spent here at Hopwood as a middle schooler was paved with numerous challenges, opportunities and celebrations. And your promotion to Highschool, is indeed an achievement and a testament to your hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I am sure that you were also faced with situations that forced you to make tough decisions and even tougher choices towards achieving your goal. And yet, even with all that struggle, you remained faithful to your commitment towards self improvement and success. It is definitely a milestone worth celebrating!

The success that you are celebrating today was not just determined by your grades, your test scores, or your achievements alone, but mainly by the amount of effort and commitment you have placed in every situation you’ve encountered. Your promotion theme this year, “Your success is only determined by the amount of effort and commitment you decide to put into everything you choose to do” by Mr. Victor Cabrera, is a concise statement that embodies the true meaning of being accomplished. Simply put, you can not guarantee a favorable outcome to your task unless you put in 100% of your time, focus and willingness to act. Dont’ give up easily. Remember the inventor of the light bulb, Thomas Edison, failed over 1,000 times before finally succeeding. J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, was rejected by 12 publishers before finally getting published. And Stephen Curry, the NBA champion, was once told he was too small and too weak to make it in the league.

Despite these rejections, they kept putting in the effort, they kept committing to their goals, and they achieved greatness. You too can achieve greatness, students. You too can make a positive impact in the world. Don’t be afraid to take risks, to try new things, and to push yourself beyond your limits. Remember, every obstacle is an opportunity to grow, every challenge is a chance to learn, and every setback is a stepping stone to success.

I am so proud of each and every one of you, and I have no doubt that you will go on to do great things. Keep striving for excellence, keep pushing yourself to be your best, and always remember that your success is in your hands.

A pleasant morning to every one of you. Today is a special day for all of us because it is the day that we recognize and celebrate our 8th-grade students who have accomplished another milestone in their lives and are promoted to high school. Congratulations, students for making it this far despite all the obstacles faced. Your chosen theme for your promotion ceremony is “Your success is only determined by the amount of effort and commitment you decide to put into everything you choose to do” by Victor Cabrera. I believe in the message of your chosen theme and live by its concept. Also, I’ve known, worked with, and have much respect for the quotee Mr. Cabrera, and I acknowledge now that if you heard it from him, you know it’s real.

What a journey it has been for all of you. Every school year since your 6th-grade year here at Hopwood has been an experience that few could have imagined from Distance learning, Double sessions, and a classroom where two teachers are present and teaching. Yet despite the challenges, you’re able to achieve the required credits to be promoted from HMS, and I applaud you for that. Remember that no matter which high school you attend, like your chosen theme, the amount of effort and commitment to your studies will determine your success. Congratulations, students, and thank you for sharing this journey of challenges and experiences with all of us. Although you will be missed here in Hopwood, we are excited to see where your path leads next and what will become of it! Just remember to not be afraid to fail for it is a part of the ride, always dare to try again for you only have to get it right once, above all, don’t forget to enjoy the journey!
