Family Day! Hopkinton Family Day - September 14th Mark your calendars! Hopkinton Family Day to be held this year on Saturday September 14th. Family Day is a fantastic community day full of live entertainment, fun games and activities, as well as yummy food trucks. The day is sponsored by many generous local businesses and residents. Town organizations, non-profits, clubs, and businesses located in Hopkinton offer activities for everyone. All activities (except the Food Trucks) are free for the whole family.
College Visits
Elon University is coming on Thursday, September 12th at 11:45 am. If you want any details: We allow 35 students (Juniors & Seniors) per visit. Students should sign up through their Naviance Account. You must check with your teacher first and make up any missed work. If you need a pass, please see Mrs. O’Loughlin or Mrs. Caruso in the Counseling Office.

AP Students College Board and Advanced Placement AP Students:
By now you should have logged into the College Board website, at the instruction of your AP teacher(s) and completed your official College Board enrollment in your AP class(es.) You need a “join code” provided by your teacher(s) to enroll. Once you complete this process, there will be many AP resources available to you through the College Board. This is a completely separate process from registering for your AP exam(s.) You must also register and pay for your AP Exam(s) between September 11th and November 1st. On September 11th, a link to Total Registration will open up on the HHS website for AP Exam Registration. Payment of $98 per exam is required at the time of exam registration. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. Please see your counselor if you believe you qualify for financial assistance. If you have been preapproved for test accommodations by the College Board, you may also receive these accommodations on AP exams. Please see your counselor of Ms. Greco if you require accommodations.

Pre-ACT & PSAT/NMSQT The Pre-ACT is a 10th-grade multiple-choice assessment that helps students prepare for the experience of taking the ACT® test and provides information projecting their future performance on the exam. The PSAT/NMSQT, or Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, is a practice test for the SAT, that is standardized for 11th graders. The PSAT/ NMSQT will help Juniors better understand their abilities and determine their eligibility for national scholarship and recognition programs. Registration for the PreACT for Sophomores and the PSAT for Juniors will open on Monday, September 23rd. We will continue to take registrations through October 11th, as long as we still have tests available. We encourage students to register early as we have a limited number of tests. •
The exams are administered at Hopkinton High School on Saturday morning, October 19th.

The cost of the tests is $30. Fee waivers are available for those who qualify for assistance.

Contests and Opportunities Calling All Mathematicians! Hopkinton High School will be hosting the Fifty-Sixth Mathematics Olympiad Competition! Here are the details: Open to students in Grades 9-12 Content will be Algebra I through Pre-Calculus Prizes range from $250 - $50 for 1st to 20th Place The exam will take place Thursday October 17, 2019 from 7:30 - 9:00 am. Hopefully, everyone had a great summer and the first couple of weeks of school! This year there will be a T-Shirt design contest to decide what our class T-Shirts for pep rally will look like. Anyone interested should design their T-shirts using Custom Ink and send it to Ms. Breen by Friday, Sept. 27. Voting will take place on Oct. 1. Participation is highly encouraged, so be creative! Also, it’s time to pay class dues, which are $45 in cash or check, or $50 after November 1st. You can give the money to our class advisors Ms. Breen (Room 312) or to any of the class officers. The money should be in an envelope with your first and last name written on the outside. You class dues will help fund all of our class events, including but not limited to, prom, dances, field trips, and any after graduation reunions, so make sure you pay them. Facts That Will Haunt Your Dinner Applications for the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Award are now open! The NCWIT AiC honors women in grades 9 through 12 who are active and interested in computing and technology, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Students are chosen for their demonstrated interests and achievements in computing, proven leadership ability, academic performance and plans for post-secondary education. Last year, 2 HHS students were recognized... let’s continue the HHS streak!

lauren Anderson Field Restoration Project Lauren was a Hopkinton High School junior when she died in a horseback riding accident in 1994. This tragedy rocked her family, friends and community. To keep her spirit alive, volunteers raised money to purchase a scoreboard for Softball Field #6. The Lauren Anderson Memorial Scoreboard was dedicated in 2001. 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of Lauren’s death. Today Field #6 is used by school softball teams, the Women’s Softball League and Parks and Recreation League. But it needs some upgrades, including a digital scoreboard, dugouts, bleachers and a warning track. A fundraising project is underway to ensure that Field #6 matches the quality of the other HHS fields. Want to help?
