SUMMER SHORTS 2025, vol. 2
Get comfortable in your shorts We often say clubfoot doesn’t take a summer vacation. And that’s true. A child is born every three minutes with this treatable condition, whether in winter, spring, summer or fall. The need is always urgent. We recognize that we can all get distracted as our schedules and rhythms shift during the summer season. That’s why we are sending you this abbreviated version of Hope Notes. Your impact continues throughout the summer, and we’re sharing just a few examples. Consider it our “summer shorts” perfect for tossing in your beach bag for a quick read. Enjoy!

starting the year off right Gelata, is one of the newest children enrolled in Ethiopia this fiscal year, which started July 1. Her name means “praise/ gratitude.” In a few weeks, these feet will be perfectly straight - an excellent reason for gratitude.
working with experience Diego in Honduras Four-year-old Diego was diagnosed with clubfoot before he was even born. But his mother, Blanca, knew exactly what to do—because she had once been in his tiny shoes. Both she and her brother were born with clubfoot and treated successfully, so when Diego was diagnosed at 20 weeks in utero, she sprang into action. Just four days after his birth in Santa Bárbara, Honduras, Diego began treatment—an early start that made all the difference. Despite his father migrating to another country due to financial hardship, Blanca never missed an appointment, fueled by gratitude for the free care. Today, Diego is thriving in kindergarten, running and playing like any other child. For Blanca, each step forward—especially seeing his casts removed and braces go on—was a moment of joy and hope. “We cried many times,” she says, “but we always had faith.” Now, she encourages other parents to start treatment early because, as she knows firsthand, clubfoot is treatable—and healing is possible.
Two Years of waiting Christian in Ghana After two long years of praying for a child, Christiana and Samuel’s joy turned to fear when their newborn son Christian was diagnosed with clubfoot. “We were so worried at first,” they said. “We thought, ‘How will our child ever walk?’” Even worse, Samuel wondered if they had done something wrong to deserve this. But hope came quickly. A relative guided them to a clinic, and from the very first appointment, the healing began. The first brace was tough—but watching their baby’s feet slowly straighten brought tears of joy. Encouraged by other parents and grounded in their faith, this young couple found strength they didn’t know they had.
Now in the brace stage, their son is thriving. “We know,” they said with a smile, “he will grow up to walk like most children.”

2025-2030 strategy Rooted in Hope, Rising in Impact
In too many places, a child born with clubfoot is left behind, trapped by a completely treatable condition. At Hope Walks, we believe every child deserves the chance to run free—and every parent deserves the support to help them get there. Hope Walks is launching a bold plan to move us closer to ending the disability caused by clubfoot and lead more people to Jesus Christ. Our strategic plan will accomplish this by TRAINING and educating more than 100,000 healthcare workers in clubfoot treatment, detection and referral to support the expansion to 300 partner clinics. With this foundation, we will be TREATING 60,000 new children with clubfoot, enabling them to walk on straight feet without pain or stigma. Accomplishing both will help in TRANSFORMING families with 600,000 counseling sessions, each a gospel opportunity.
