20 years of hope
This year, 2025, marks two decades of hope and healing. It’s not just a milestone for Hope Walks, but for more than 175,000 children and adults born with clubfoot who are now walking free of disability.
Our journey began in 2005 as a program within CURE International. The need for clubfoot care was tremendous. The program grew, and in 2018, Hope Walks was established and became an independent organization in 2019 to reach all children born with this correctable condition. Thanks to your incredible partnership, we’ve transformed lives with physical healing and spiritual change as we’ve shared the love of Christ.
But this milestone isn’t a finish line— it’s a starting line. It inspires us to move forward with urgency to reach the thousands of children still waiting for treatment. Our goal for the next five years is to train more medical professionals, treat more children and transform more lives (like the ones you’ll see on the center spread).
Thank you for being the foundation of this journey. You are the reason for every step, every story and every life transformed over the last 20 years.

A shipping container full of hope New clinic headed to Kenya
Shipping containers are usually known for hauling goods across oceans —but one very special container now sailing toward Kenya is carrying something far more valuable: hope for children born with clubfoot.
What began as an ordinary steel box has been transformed into a fully equipped clinic space dedicated to clubfoot treatment. This unique project comes from Texas A&M University’s BUILD initiative, a student-led effort that converts decommissioned shipping containers into state-of-the-art medical clinics serving communities around the world.
In late September, the Hope Walks container was completed and loaded onto a cargo ship bound for the Kenyan coast. Over the next 45 days, it will travel from Texas through the Panama Canal, across the Pacific and Indian Oceans, before reaching Kilifi, a coastal city where Clubfoot Care for Kenya (CCK) Hope Walks’ local partner—will put it to use.
Once installed, the container clinic will provide a dedicated, modern space where trained clinicians can offer free, lifechanging treatment to children with clubfoot. On non-clinic days, the hospital will also use the space for other essential health services, ensuring that every square foot continues to

Where are they now?
20
years of changing lives
You’ve changed a lot of lives over the last 20 years. Many of the children enrolled in the program’s early days are now nearing the end of their secondary education and may be starting college or entering the workforce. Here are just a few of those lives you’ve helped change.

ange
Rwanda
Ange’s early years were filled with clinic visits, casts, and braces. After six corrective casts, a tenotomy, and five years of bracing, she is completely healed. Now 13 years old, Ange is an energetic high school student who loves school and enjoys all the activities typical for girls her age.
Rhematu
Ghana
Just three days after her birth in April 2011, little Rhematu was referred to St. John of God Hospital in Ghana’s Ahafo Region. Her parents were relieved to learn that the treatment was both effective and free of charge. Now 14 years old and in her second year at Presbyterian Junior High School in Adamasu, Rhematu is thriving. She dreams of becoming a nurse so she can help others heal—just as others once helped her.
Kavira
Democratic Republic of the Congo Kavira began treatment at the Butembo clinic in 2011. Born with both feet twisted, her parents once feared she might never walk. Today, at 14 years old and in her second year of secondary school, Kavira walks confidently and dreams of a bright future—something her family once thought impossible.

Kipson
Mozambique
Kipson, who began clubfoot treatment as a baby in the early days of the Mozambique program, is now a sixth-grader at Zona Verde Primary School. His 4-year-old brother was also born with clubfoot, and is currently in treatment with Hope Walks. Kipson dreams of becoming a teacher just like his father because he loves helping others learn and grow. Like most children treated for clubfoot while still a baby, Kipson has no memory of his condition. But his father, living with untreated clubfoot, is a reminder of what could have happened to him. “Hope Walks did more than treat our sons - it gave them freedom, dignity and the chance to live without limits,” Kipson’s family said.

juma
Malawi
Born in December 2015, Juma’s parents brought him to Zomba Central Hospital just seven weeks after birth, worried about his twisted feet. Mariam and Daudi still remember how kindly the parent advisor and clinician reassured them that their son would one day walk straight—and they were right. Today, 10-year-old Juma is in grade six and dreams of becoming an auto mechanic when he grows up.

shalom
Burkina Faso
Born in December 2017, Shalom graduated from the clubfoot program in 2022. The son of a pastor, he’s now in fourth grade and has ranked among the top five students in his class for the past two years. During treatment, his family traveled more than 270 miles from their home in Banfora City to Schiphra Hospital in Ouagadougou. Today, they proudly serve as clubfoot ambassadors in their community—spreading the same hope they received.

Bukata
Zambia
Eleven-year-old Bukata (second from left) recently returned to the clinic where she was treated as a baby—just to say thank you. She walked in proudly beside her mother and her little brother, who is now undergoing clubfoot treatment. Their family’s story is a testament to hope passed from one generation to the next.

Khadija
Kenya
Khadija lives in Mombasa, Kenya, and is now 16. She’s in her third year of high school. Once her future was bleak, but today she is a vibrant young girl ready to take on the world.

serve families in need.
This effort was made possible through a partnership between TAMU BUILD, Medical Bridges, which donated and outfitted the clinic with medical equipment and supplies, and the generous support of an anonymous foundation that helped cover shipping costs. Each clinic is dedicated in memory of a Texas A&M student, and the Hope Walks clinic is dedicated to LCpl Luke Yepsen who served in the U.S. Marines.
Hope Walks is deeply grateful for this collaboration—a tangible reminder that when creativity, compassion and partnership come together, even a simple shipping container can become a vessel of healing and hope.
Stay tuned to Hope Notes and Hope Walks’ social media for updates as this floating clinic of hope completes its journey to Kenya.

sponsor a child’s journey to walk free
Join The Clubfoot Crew and walk alongside a child from clubfoot to straight feet
Each month, our community of Clubfoot Crew members comes together to sponsor a child’s journey toward freedom from clubfoot. As a Crew member, you’ll receive updates that take you step by step through one child’s healing story—from their very first clinic visit to their first steps on straight feet.
In the first month, you’ll meet a child just beginning treatment, often when their feet are still twisted and their family is filled with uncertainty. The next month, you’ll see the hope that begins to take shape as casts gently straighten those tiny feet. By the third month, you’ll celebrate with the family as their child begins wearing braces and walking with confidence.
Your monthly gift makes this transformation possible—not just for the child you’re following, but for thousands more receiving treatment through Hope Walks. It’s a sponsorship experience that connects your generosity with real faces and real
