What a year that was - in so many Issue 7 Issueways! 7 What publishable words can we use to best describe 2022? Challenging? Turbulent? And still - against the backdrop of all the hardships that so many of us are facing, our wonderful Hope Against Cancer community of volunteers, researchers, doctors, academics, nurses, staff, supporters, patients and relatives has kept our mission of improving cancer outcomes for people in our area not just going, but moving from strength to strength.

Despite the challenging economic conditions, we have continued to raise substantial funds for early-stage cancer research projects (that might never happen without us!) And for the Hope Cancer Trials Centre, where local people benefit from trialling the latest treatments and medicines. So we’re proud of our year and grateful for all the contributions that so many of you have made! Now it’s time to recharge a little and prepare for even greater efforts in 2023 - which is our charity’s 20th anniversary year!
