Ceramics: Parent & Child Workshop Ages 7+ Tuition: $45 | Insider Plus $42.75 December 3, 2022 Saturday, 3:30–6:00 PM Work side-by-side with your child in this fun handbuilding class. Each parent and child workshop is based on a different theme, and is a great way to get your hands muddy and experience clay. Great for a full family outing! Both Parent and child must be registered to attend this workshop.
Ceramic Night Out
Ages 21+ Tuition: $75 | Insider Plus $71.25 December 3, 2022 Saturday, 7:00–10:00 PM Try something new with your crew or try something new and meet someone new! Come with ideas to make ceramic bowls, mugs, vessels and more, or get inspired while enjoying conversations and laughs. Tuition includes all materials and firing, plus a glass of wine and snacks will be provided. Must be 21 years of age or older.
The Wheel Experience Ages 18+
December 12–16, 2022 Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–12:30 PM Tuition: $300 | Insider Plus $285 December 12–15, 2022 Monday–Thursday, 7:00–10:00 PM Tuition: $240 | Insider Plus $228 Come and learn the basics of making pottery on the potter’s wheel! The workshop includes all materials, firing and glazing. This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate ceramics students.
The Teen Wheel Experience Ages 11–17 Tuition: $200 | Insider Plus $190 December 12–16, 2022 Monday–Friday, 4:00–6:00 PM Come and learn the basics of making pottery on the potter’s wheel! The workshop includes all materials, firing and glazing. This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate ceramics students.
Ceramic Sectional Throwing Workshop Ages 18+ Tuition: $135 | Insider Plus $128.25 December 16–17, 2022 Friday, 6:30–9:30 PM Saturday, 3:30–6:30 PM Sectional throwing is a technique allowing the potter to create larger, more complex vessels. This 2-day, 6-hour workshop instructed by Martha Gold is for intermediate/advanced students who are comfortable wedging and throwing only 2-4 pounds of clay, this technique offers multiple sections for creating larger pieces. The seams can be incorporated into the designed shape or disappear as if it did not exist. The only limitation is the height of the kilns! Students must come to both classes.
VISUAL ARTS Hopkins Early Release Art Workshop Ages 9-11 Tuition: $40 | Insider Plus $38
December 2, 2022 | Friday, 1:15–3:15 PM Hopkins students will be walked over to the HCA from school and participate in a fun and creative art project led by one of the HCA visual art instructors. It could involve painting, mixed media, clay or an assortment of unconventional materials. Parents must fill out a dismissal change form and pick-up their child at the HCA.
Workshop: Watercolor with Richard Ages 16+ Tuition: $85 | Insider Plus $80.75 December 3, 2022 Saturday, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM Indulge your creativity with this one-day Watercolor workshop, with instructor Richard Denzer. The class will begin with an basic discussion of materials and techniques, followed by a simple watercolor painting demonstration. Students may paint along, referring the same image, or may work from their own photo. Individual instruction and coaching will be provided.
Still Life Oil Painting Workshop w/ Marion Buricatu Ages 18+ Tuition: $75 | Insider Plus $71.65 December 5, 2022 Monday, 1:00–4:00 PM In this three hour oil painting workshop, Marion will set up a simple still life. Students will be able to practice painting directly from observation and use painting techniques to successfully depict the illusion of 3-dimensions form and space. All levels welcome.
Recycling, Repurposing and Upcycling Ages 8–12 Tuition: $180 | Insider Plus $171 December 5–9, 2022 Monday–Friday, 4:00–6:00 PM Students will have fun while recycling, repurposing and upcycling. This 2-hour, week-long, workshop for ages 8-12 will explore letting nothing go to waste while creating jewelry, accessories, mobiles and more with recyclables and found materials. A walk-up service from Hopkins Elementary School is offered. For any students arriving early a homework room is provided.
Traditional Indian Painting Arts Ages 9–13 Tuition: $180 | Insider Plus $171 December 12–16, 2022 Monday–Friday, 4:00–6:00 PM Students will have fun while learning the rich culture of India and its traditional art forms. This 2-hour, week-long, workshop for ages 9-13 will introduce the traditional art of Warli and dot painting... a peacock might even make an appearance! A walk-up service from Hopkins Elementary School is offered. For any students arriving early a homework room is provided.
Art Night Out: Expanded Masterpiece Ages 21+ Tuition: $65 | Insider Plus $61.75 December 16, 2022 Friday, 7:00–9:00 PM Back by popular demand! Join HCA instructor Marion Buricatu in expanding a masterpiece. Students will use oil pastels to add an expanded interpretation of a historical masterpiece from the Worcester Art Museum collection. This is an evening of fun while learning about famous paintings and adding your unique vision. This night out includes all materials, plus a glass of wine and snacks will be provided.
