ANGEL OF THE WIND SPORTS BOOK

Project Scope: the project was a sports book which required converting an existing area of the casino and separating it with a curtain wall to create an exclusive space for betting on Sport events. As you see in the above image the result was a very industrial looking as the structure was very prominent.

My Responsibility: I modeled and adjusted the main entrance per the design concept from another team and organized the space and wall types within the sports book area.

ANGEL OF THE WINDS HOTEL & CASINO SPEAK EASY BAR & LOUNGE REMODEL

Project Scope : Remodeling Of The Existing High limit Gaming Room, ToASpeak Easy Bar

the existing space was a bit unknown and the team had to demo part of the wall to check if the space is enough to allow for the two new restrooms to comply with the new occupant load.

Concept : You enter the space as an exclusive guest, permitted by the barman through a hidden door in a cloak room followed by a pleasant, surprise at the cozy speak easy bar area

SpeakEasy CUNINGHAM

My Responsibility:

as the project architect I worked with the interior Designer to generate the concept which started as a wine cellar and after analyzing different alternatives it ended up as a James bond themed Bar area.

The team intended to draw all the moldings as 2D elements, which I initially agreed, but later I proposed creating profiles for each detail and this saved time and added to the quality and consistency of the drawings

⁃ I created 4 different profiles to generate the moldings and wainscoting per the interior designer’s design intent

⁃As the space was very tight we had to have many dummy drawers and shelves to imply depth. I modeled the cabinetry with walls and only used moldings to camouflage the cabinetry.

AotwOutdoorPatio CUNINGHAM

AOTW - Outdoor Patio

Project Scope: Converting an existing entrance porch to an outdoor patio

You enter the space from the Patio entrance, and either take the ramp to the raised lounge or keep walking and sit at one of the slot machines or other gaming machines in the patio area. further you can sit at the bar which connects the existing casino to the new patio area and still take a shot at the counter machines or just order a drink!

My

Responsibility

I joined at the Design development phase of the project and carried on to the end of the construction documents phase. this project had three challenging issues, which I will elaborate on the following pages

1.ADA ramp connecting the outdoor patio to the raised lounge

2.Solving the exterior ramp issue

3.Connecting the old roof to the new

4.screen walls and planter details

CUNINGHAM

AotwOutdoorPatio

ADA ramp connecting the outdoor patio to the raised lounge

The ADA ramp connecting the main floor to the raised floor was challenging as it had to be compact enough to preserve the space, and it was solved in the 3rd iteration.

Solving the exterior ramp issue, The area around the patio had a steep slope which I redesigned for an ADA ramp providing a path between the two entrances

CUNINGHAM

AotwOutdoorPatio

My Resposibility

Connecting the old roof to the new

I detailed the connections between the existing Porto cochere and the new roofs flanking it.

further there were areas at the side and back of the patio which required detailing as the new roofs needed to connect to the walls of the existing casino. The variety of the materials on the existing hotel wall added to the connection detail types.

As the faux beams (Steel Beams with wood cladding) sloped from the existing building towards the Patio entrance we had to resolve the different conditions that were created at the connections points between the two new roofs flanking the existing converted Porto cochere.

Above you can see three different conditions in sequence from the closest to the existing building at the top to the farthest at the bottom right of the page.

On the left there are details mitigating the connections between the new roof to the existing casino walls.

The existing Porto cochere side view

HyveeSupermarkets CUNINGHAM

HyVee - Supermarkets

At the start of the pandemic there was a surge in the demand for supermarkets in the Midwest while the theme park projects where mostly on hold. Part of the appeal for these supermarkets was the variety of services they provided at a time that most other public establishments were closing or imposing more restrictions. working on spaces like floral, pharmacy, bakery, food court, charcuterie, nail salon, winery, etc. exposed me to many different food preserving, preparation equipment, and processes, together with the none gastronomic side services.

Another reason that I was invited to help the HyVee team was that many of their old drawings were in CAD and the new remodeling projects were utilizing and modifying those drawings for overlay plans and later as part of the construction documents.

as they wanted to transition to Revit I came up with a collaboration system in CAD, by utilizing the coordinated furniture and equipment backgrounds as a point of reference and creating a block for the new changes. these efforts involved redrawing and adjusting many of the CAD drawings from the Hy-Vee archive in Revit to generate new models.

My Responsibility

I have worked on more than 15 Hy-Vee projects (the following are a number of those projects) and was involved in all aspects of the DD and CD phases. Other than the diverse tasks that I have completed as part of the DD and CD efforts, I designed the Elevation for the Janesville Project and on other projects I have designed or refined older designs for the Foral section, reception area, the restrooms and adjusted all Refrigeration spaces per the Fixture and furniture background provided by the HyVee team and the Archived projects.

Moreover, I have edited Record drawings and been active in the collaboration efforts between structural, MEP, and other consultants, through Procore, site photos and archives.

1. Reorganized the set and Detailed wood construction for all facilities, Created and automated the calculations for the exiting plan. Modeled the Tiki Bar, Event Pavilion and the Stage.
