OUR IN-PERSON QUALITATIVE ASSESSMENT

A unique, customised academic review of your child, delivered by one of our highly experienced assessors, either in your home or an SLT classroom.

Our academic assessment is a personal assessment of your child’s ability. It is an in-depth analysis by a senior trained educator that will involve a variety of discussions, observations and written assessments. It will result in a substantial written report on key learning areas and defined next steps for your child.

Whether embarking on a course of tuition, applying to a new school or just wanting to see how your child is getting on compared to their peers, a personalised in-person assessment provides valuable insight.

WHAT IS IT?

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The assessment lasts between one and a half to two hours, it is rigorous whilst still being gentle and supportive. Each assessment is designed by the SLT assessment team of expert educators as well as senior tutors and teachers.

Topics assessed are English, Maths and Reasoning.

Typical areas include:

» English: spelling, age-appropriate grammar concepts, comprehension ability and creative writing skills.

» Mathematics: mental arithmetic and written questions.

» Reasoning: verbal, non-verbal and spatial tests.

This assessment looks at handwriting and interpersonal skills, too.

“Erin’s assessment report is very helpful and highlights the areas we need to work on. I’m pleased we did the assessment as it provides a clear idea of which areas require work.

RESULTS

The resulting personalised report, typically three to five pages long, will describe your child’s academic strengths, areas for improvement and potential. It will give you a very clear idea of current attainment and can be used to advise on the decisions for your child’s ongoing education.

As importantly, it also provides observations from the assessor on your child’s interpersonal skills, confidence levels and general presentation, which are highly valuable when considering preparation for school applications.

WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

We recommend this assessment for younger students and for those who may be anxious about a timed online assessment, but it can be useful for any students from Reception onwards.

It is excellent for younger learners who cannot access an online adaptive test and is ideal for less confident learners who respond best in a one-to-one environment. We also provide an online adaptive test which provides a standardised assessment that is often more helpful for tracking progress and forms the baseline of our school placement packages.

We are always happy to discuss your situation, answer questions and explore whether our approach could be the right fit for your family. Please contact: enquiries@simplylearningtuition.co.uk or call 020 7350 1981
