Children’s Art Competition

This competition is part of MADhurst, a full month-long celebration of music, arts, drama and community across the surrounding area.
Terms and Conditions
• The competition is open to children and young people school year groups Yrs 6 – Yrs 13.
• Entries will be judged according to following year group categories:
» Year 6 / Year 7 / Year 8 / Year 9 / Years 10 – 13 (if a large number of entries submitted into this category may be split to Yrs 10/11 and Yrs 12/13).
• Entry to the competition is free.
• Only one entry per child/ young person.
• All entries must be original, and they must not have been published anywhere else.
Entries
• Artwork can be submitted as a drawing or painting in any medium on A4 paper or an A4 canvas board.
• Alternatively, work can be submitted as a sculpture but no bigger than: 30cm long x 21cm wide x 30cm high
• PLEASE NOTE: No photography or computer generated work.
How to Enter
• Your entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form with contact details of the entrant if over 16yrs or of a parent/ guardian if under 16yrs.
• Any artwork submitted without a completed entry form will not be accepted.
• If you are emailing your competition entry your artwork must be emailed to:
secretary@madhurst.co.uk as an image file. If sending your entry as an image file (.jpg or .jpeg), the file must be least 1Mb in file size (maximum file size 5Mb).
• If you would prefer to deliver the original artwork in person, please bring the completed entry form together with the finished artwork to: Mantis Art Studio, Bepton Road, Midhurst GU29 9LY
• Please note that original artwork cannot be returned.
• The closing date/ time is at midnight on Friday 6th June 2025. Submissions received after this time will not be accepted.
• By signing the form, the entrant/ parent/ guardian gives permission for the entrant to take part and for MADhurst Festival
representative to make contact to discuss public relations opportunities/ sharing of the artwork as part of the MADhurst Art Trail and on the MADhurst Website.
• No responsibility is accepted for network, computer hardware or software failures of any kind that may restrict or delay the sending of your entry. No responsibility is accepted by MADhurst for entries lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete, or which cannot be entered for technical or other reasons.
Copyright
• By entering the competition, you grant the MADhurst a non-exclusive, royalty free, irrevocable licence to reproduce, publish or exhibit your artwork. This may include, but is not limited to:
» news coverage of the competition
» MADhurst website and social media
» Exhibitions
» Publications – such as leaflets and reports
» for use in press releases to be distributed to national, regional and specialist press giving information about or promoting the competition
• By entering the competition, you also agree that MADhurst may also, at its sole discretion, edit, adapt, abridge or translate the entry for the purposes listed above in reproducing, publishing or exhibiting your artwork.
• By entering the competition, you agree that nothing in the entry will infringe the copyright or any other intellectual property right of any third party or defame any third party.
• It must be possible to contact the responsible person during school holidays, as well as in term time.
GDPR
• In order to facilitate this competition, the MADhurst Festival will need to process some personal information, specifically, the entrant’s name, age and location (postcode). This will be used to allow the MADhurst representative to contact finalists and prize winners and in order to identify entrants in any publication of an entry.

Shortlisted Entries
• Shortlisted entries for each age category will be displayed in shops and businesses around Midhurst as part of the MADhurst Art Trail and the winners will be selected by a public vote via QR codes, social media and website voting portals.
• Closing date for voting will be 6pm Thursday 28th August 2025.
Competition prizes
• Winners will receive a prize and have their artwork published on the MADhurst websites and social media platforms.
• Winners will be informed by telephone or email on Friday 29th August 2025.
• Prizes will be awarded on Saturday 30th August 2025 at MTC Summer Street Party (alternative arrangement to receive prizes will be made for those unable to attend).
