DRESS CODE

The dress code is smart casual in all hospitality areas. Attendees will be most comfortable dressed for a blend of comfort, elegance and a touch of summer flair.

Visit the Cowdray Park Polo Club online shop to beat the crowds and get your hands on our exclusive polo apparel: cowdraypoloshop.co.uk

FOLLOW THE FASHION Instagram @cowdraypolo #goldcuplooks

FOR WOMEN

» Light summer dresses: Opt for light summer dresses in bohemian prints, soft florals, or bold jewel colours. The length is up to the individual, though we recommend factoring in sitting, cheering, dancing, and plenty of divot stomping!

» Jumpsuits and trousers: Jumpsuits, skirts and trousers are also a suitable choice. If you opt for trousers, light and loose will offer the most comfort for a busy day at the polo.

» Hats: Hats are optional, and fascinators rarely seen. Keep the sun out of your eyes with a lightweight straw trilby or classic black sunglasses depending on your personal style.

» Footwear: Leave the stilettos behind, you will be spending your day on grass where seasoned polo spectators prefer to tread the divots in wedges, plimsoles, espadrilles and sandals.

FOR MEN

» Linen suits and lightcoloured blazers: Lightweight and breathable jackets are perfect for summer polo.

» No tie required: While ties are a classic choice, don’t hesitate to go without and add a dash of colour with a pastel shirt or playful print.

» Trousers: Denim is perfectly acceptable with a smart shirt or blazer; cotton chinos are also a popular choice.

» Hats: Traditionally, men wear Panama hats to shield from the sun. It’s a stylish option, but a hat is not essential, and a trusted pair of sunglasses will do just as well.

TICKETS

» Your general entry ticket will be scanned at the gates on entry to the iconic Lawns Polo Grounds. Your swing tag and car hanger (where applicable) grant you access to your enclosure and designated parking area. We politely request that you do not share images of your tickets prior to the event to prevent misuse or fraud.

» On arrival, please ensure your car hanger is clearly visible to allow our parking attendants to direct you to the correct gate and car park. Present your general entry ticket to our attendants for entry to the Lawns Grounds.

» We request that you present your hospitality swing badge to our security team when entering your enclosure throughout the day to preserve your exclusive access.

» The Lawns Enclosure and Grandstand are not included in enclosure hospitality packages. Tickets are available to add to your package ahead of the event or on the day subject to availability. Please ask a member of staff to purchase or visit cowdraypolo.co.uk/hospitality .

RULES

Polo is a dynamic and exciting team game. One of the oldest known sports in the world, it is thought to have originated in Persia over 2000 years ago.

The game as we know it today was codified and developed in India in the 1800s, where British soldiers who were stationed there saw the game being played locally and adapted it for their own uses, often using it as training for cavalry riders.

The object of Polo is for a team to score more goals than its opposition to win the game. Each team of four is made up of attackers and defenders, but all members of a polo team are expected to be flexible and make any play whether offensive or defensive and change position as necessary to benefit the team.

For a brief overview of the rules to get you started, please visit our ‘Guide to Polo’:
