Importance of Area Learning Centers A wise philosopher once said, “Change is inevitable…except from a vending machine!” Parents on the Northshore and in New Orleans simply want things to return to normal. Realistically it will be more of a semblance of normal; a post-pandemic new normal. The way the school year ended many students will need extra help this summer to prepare for the upcoming school year. So, this means parents will have homework of their own over the summer. Area learning centers offering homeschooling and tutoring services will have new standards and guidelines to follow. Many locations will have new limits on the number of students, specific procedures for teacher/student interactions, plus new sanitation standards.

The days of tutoring sessions held in busy public libraries, family homes, restaurant dining rooms may be over. When deciding on a learning center to send the kids, parents should reach out and ask questions. Find out which locations address today’s new challenges. Learn about what steps are being taken to ensure a clean, safe environment. Inquire about personal accommodations or remote learning options. Finally, ask for a tour of the facility and see for yourself.

The transition from 6th to 7th grade is challenging under normal situations. Incoming seniors only have a limited number of opportunities to take the ACT. Our students deserve all the academic support they can get to maximize their opportunity for success.
