Jolee’s Food Revie
Grandma Tobler’s Bakery is opened for breakfast, lunch and all the treats you could ever want Monday – Saturday from 6 am to 4 pm. They also serve dinner on Friday nights from 4 pm – 8 pm.
From the second I walked into Grandma Tobler’s Bakery, I could smell how tasty everything was going to be. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I walked straight up to the bakery case and my mouth started to water…. cookies, sweet rolls, cupcakes, old fashioned candies, brownies, lemon bars, croissants, and even doughnuts. But wait, THERE WAS MORE!!! Sandwiches, salads, chicken pot pies! WOW. This place has it all. There was a lot more, but I can’t even name them all! First of all, Grandma Tobler, is a real person. I learned the history of Grandma Tobler in the bakery. The recipes have come from a few different women in the family, and through a few generations. The recipes are working… the food, the pot pie, the croissants, the brownies, the cookies, the lemon bars, the doughnuts, … ALL SO AMAZINGLY GOOD! Something really cool I learned was how Grandma Tobler’s makes one of their most popular item; the Pecan Sweet Rolls. Using caramel, crushed pecans, and the sweet roll, the magic in the kitchen took place right before my eyes! This pecan roll is no regular sweet roll I tell ya! It is magically delish.

July 20, 2014 is National Ice Cream Day
"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" Shout this mantra from the rooftops, because today is National Ice Cream Day! In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month. He also declared that the third Sunday in July would be National Ice Cream Day. We’re definitely thankful, because ice cream is a summertime (or anytime!) favorite for people of all ages. With hundreds of flavors and toppings to choose from, you can't go wrong with ice cream! Whether you get it in a cup or in a cone, atop a waffle or in a banana split, make sure to visit your local ice cream shop today to get some cold, delicious ice cream. Watch out for ice cream events and freebies happening in your area, and check out this amazing Ice Cream Day video! Happy National Ice Cream Day!

Role Model Summer Fitness You’ve heard this over and over... “children are more likely to make healthy choices when their parents set a good example.” Show them that you enjoy exercising and being healthy and they will be more willing to give it a chance. Let your child show you how to play a game that they made up. Don’t forget small things like walking to the store instead of driving, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Get moving yourself. If you do active things, chances are that your child will too.

• Head injuries are the most serious type of injury and the most common cause of death for bicyclists. Bicycle helmets have been proven to reduce the risk of head and brain injury when a crash occurs by as much as 85 to 88%. • Children with bicycle-related head injuries are more likely to require hospitalization and to have their injuries result in death. • More than one-fifth of all bicyclist deaths occur among school age youth ages 5 to 15. • More children go to hospital emergency departments for bicycle related crashes than for any other sport. • Almost half of bicycle crashes occur in driveways or on sidewalks. {DIY HE approved Laundry Detergent} Supplies Needed: 1 box Borax found in the detergent isle
1 box Arm & Hammer Baking Soda found in
the cooking isle
3 bars Fels-Naptha
found in the detergent isle
2 small containers of Oxy Clean or store
brand Oxy Clean about 3.5 lbs total found in the detergent isle.
1 box Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda found in the detergent isle
Start by grating your Fels-Naptha soap just like cheese. You can use a food processor or just use your hand held grater, what ever you have. Those of you with an HE washer may want to run the mix through the grater again to get an even finer mix. Toss all ingredients in a 5 gallon bucket lined with a garbage bag. This part makes your whole house smell great. Once everything is mixed store soap however you like. The recipe makes about 2 gallons worth of detergent and costs around $20! Use 1-2 Tablespoons per load. It might not seem like enough but this recipe does not have fillers like the store bought For more detergent so you only need 1-2 Tablespoons!
