Centre News
Well, we have had another uncertain year to contend with but hope you are all managing to deal with the fluctuating challenges.
Unfortunately our monthly country meals have been a casualty of the lockdown restrictions but we look forward to more stability in 2022.
However, our club memberships have stayed strong and the community support has been greatly appreciated.
It has also been a period of change for your Complex management team. Bexs Waterhouse has taken over the role of Mangakahia Complex Manager and has been a wonderful new addition to our team.
We are always keen to have new members join our team and would invite anyone interested in contributing to the operation of the Mangakahia Complex to contact us.
Our AGM will be held shortly (details below) and this is a great opportunity to come and gather information or discuss your interest or suggestions.
Mangakahia Community & Sports Complex AGM will be held at the Mangakahia Complex at 7:30pm on Tuesday 16th November 2021
All welcome

MANGAKAHIA RUGBY CLUB
The JMB season officially finished with our prizegiving held across six nights to adhere to the alert level 2 restrictions. Rugby games were held prior to prizegiving to give players the opportunity to play each other and other club teams one last time. Great fun was had by all involved.
Thank you to our coaches and managers who volunteer such a large portion of their personal time to the teams they look after. The club appreciates your efforts. Lastly thank you to our JMB delegate Graham Livingston for being a proactive contributor to, not only our club but the wider Junior Rugby Community.
We will see you all again in 2022!

MANGAKAHIA LIONS CLUB
The Mangakahia Lions Club has been quiet over the last 10 months due to Covid restrictions.
When we were allowed to venture out we still managed to do some fundraising. Main donations so far this year are.
$9500.00 to Make a Wish Foundation (this was raised from our annual Mangakahia Lions Golf Tournament).
$10,000.00 to Starship Hospital for another ICU Room.
$5000.00 for small donations given out over the last ten months.
This year we assisted the Zonta book sale for which we received $14,500.00.
94 banana boxes of citrus went to the South Island from the Maungatapere and Mangakahia area for the Citrus Fruit Run.
The Mangakahia Valley Schools Year 8 Speech Contest was held in October. The winners were; Runners up - Paige Karl and Aleksandra McIvor from Maungatapere School. Winner of the Rick Billing Shield - Jackson Weavers from Kokopu School.
The Lions’ members have decided that the Senior Citizens Xmas Luncheon is cancelled for this year and the Country Meal that is on the 12th of November will be decided on at our Business Meeting on the 9th of November.
