CENTRE NEWS
Welcome to another year everyone. I hope you all had a refreshing break over the holiday season and got to enjoy time with your family and friends.
The Complex has started it’s annual programs & activities and all clubs are in full swing again. Details of upcoming rally days and tournaments can be found under individual club news.
Our annual February event, Mangakahia Summer Festival, will be held on Saturday 29th February, so make sure you keep this date free.
Check out the flyer in the desktop version and the print version in your mailbox. More info is also on our website and Facebook page.
This is a great event for all our community and there is plenty to entertain all ages. Entry is free and the event will run from 10am to 3pm. There will be music, food stalls, fun competitions, designated kidzone, general stalls and a number of other activities.
We also welcome anyone who may be interested in booking a stall for the day, to contact us. Sites are available on the fields outside or undercover in the main building for $20.
Bring along the family and come and join in this fun event.

We cater for boys and girls, aged 5 - 12, and all enquiries are welcome.

MANGAKAHIA SQUASH CLUB
The 2020 Squash season kicks off with round one starting 5th February. “Hot Squash” is a great way to burn off any excess gained over the holiday period!
Come and join us at our country meal on the 14th February, the perfect date night for Valentine’s Day. The Mangakahia Open is being held the first week in May, so mark it in your dairies now.
New players are always welcome and we cater for all abilities, beginners through to A Grade.

Junior Rugby 2020
We are preparing for another great junior rugby season! Online registrations will be open for the club from the beginning of February along with the process of how to complete the online forms. We will be holding our rally evening on Thursday the 12th of March from 5pm to 7pm upstairs at the complex. We encourage all existing and new players attend! Touch Rugby Season
The Touch season was enjoyed by all. Congratulations to the winners; under 10 - Tiny Taniwha, under 12’s- Taniwha 12’s, Under 14’s- Agony of De-Feet. The senior grade was a tight final between Manga Madness and S.O.S with S.O.S winning by one point. Looking forward to seeing all the teams back again in 2020.

MANGAKAHIA LIONS CLUB
It seems to have been a busy year for the Mangakahia Lions. We wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year.
Pre Christmas, we hosted 120 senior citizens at our annual luncheon for those currently living in our community, or have done so in the past. The people who attend this function always get a great buzz out of the day. They enjoy a great meal and catch up with old friends. We are privileged to be able to provide this service, and gives us great satisfaction in seeing so many happy faces.
We have split a big pile of firewood, which is our major fundraiser for the year. This is truly dry and good quality gum. If anyone wants firewood, please contact a Lions member or Graeme Dawson 4347215 / 021962253
We are putting on a mixed fundraising golf Tournament at Sherwood park on Friday, 6th March. The funds raised this year are going to “Kind Hands Charitable Trust”. This local charity provides respite care for children under 6 years who have a disability and/or are medically fragile. This tournament is a lot of fun, with great prizes and food provided. Whether you are a gun golfer, or spend more time than you would like looking for your ball, put a team together, (or apply individually). MANGAKAHIA GARDENING CLUB
The Mangakahia Garden Ramble was held in November and was a huge success. The weather was perfect and it was great to see the excellent support for the event. The fundraising will be used to upgrade the exterior of the Mangakahia Complex.
A huge thank you to our ten owners who graciously opened their homes and gardens for the ramble.
Hope you are all enjoying the summer fruits and blooms at this time of year.
