Scribendi Honors Magazine It is Scribendi submission time! Scribendi is a literary magazine that is conceptualized, designed, edited, and produced by Honors students just like you! It includes works of poetry, creative nonfiction, short fiction, foreign language, visual art, photography, and open media created by Honors students from across the country. Our submission deadline for this year is Friday, October 13, so make sure you get your submissions in! Also, by submitting you will have a chance to win a $250 cash prize. VOLUNTEER/MENTORING Honors Thesis Transcribers Needed Join my honors thesis community project in partnership with the Lutheran Family Refugee Resettlement Agency. This project aims to support refugees in their challenging transition to American life in Northern Colorado. Navigating a new culture and language can be daunting, so the goal is to provide tailored resources in their native language. Transcribers will be credited in the final project. Chem Club Halloween Show Hello everyone! I just wanted to hop on and share a cool volunteer opportunity with you guys! The CSU Chemistry Club is gearing up for their annual Halloween Show event where kids and families in the Fort Collins community come to campus to enjoy a day of spooky science demos and activities! Attendance last year clocked 1000+ kids and families, so any and all volunteers would be a great help! And volunteers get free pizza for helping out! EDUCATION ABROAD Medical Shadowing in Croatia over Winter Break We have a few more spots left on CSU’s Medical Shadowing in Croatia program, Winter Break 2024! The application deadline is extended to 10/9 at 11:59 pm! Join CSU students and me (Terry Schlicting) to shadow in a hospital in Croatia over this winter break! PROGRAMS OF INTEREST Undergraduate Student Advisory Board - Free Lunch! The Morgan Library is looking for students to participate in our Undergraduate Student Advisory Board. Do you know students who are thoughtful, engaged and willing to provide feedback about their experiences with the library? f you know of any students who would be interested, would you be so kind as to share the details about our meeting below? Wednesday, October 25 12:00-1:00 at the Morgan Library Free lunch! All students need to do is fill out this very short form by October 13 so we know they’re coming. At that point, we will send them a link to order their lunch.
Active Minds- Changing the Conversation about Mental Health We’re a student-led organization with the mission of raising awareness and creating conversations about suicide and mental health on college campuses. We want to make CSU a healthier community that’s not only mindful but also supportive of the idea that mental health is just as important as physical health. APACC Newsletter Asian Pacific American Cultural Center (APACC) is a phenomenal on-campus organization that welcomes all students and seeks to create a safe place for students of all backgrounds. APACC runs several educational and volunteer program for students to help spread awareness of Asian American & Pacific Islander culture and connect students with one another.
