Annual Bull Sale - February 24, 2023
Welcome Friends and Fellow Cattlemen -

We would like to invite you to take a look at the 36 Angus program and our offering of bulls this year. We would appreciate the opportunity to partner with you in your cattle operation with the understanding that we are all in this together and the need for cattle that are profitable for all aspects of the industry is what we aim to achieve. It has been a tough couple years weather wise and there wasn’t much grass this year which affected our weaning weights, but as always we Do Not Creep Feed. Our success depends on Sandhills grass and what that momma cow can survive on. With the help of mother nature, I think there are some really good times ahead for the cattle market and an opportunity to market calves, whether it’s feeder cattle or breeding livestock. It could really be exciting in the next few years.

With the fact that we have been sending an equal amount of steers and heifers to the feedlots in the past few cycles, one of the nations largest cow reduction in history, and the feedlots finally closing out some pens that are profitable, now is the time to insure your herd for success. At 36 Angus, we know that it all boils down to a profitable cow and we depend on her to be fertile and productive and realize that is the case for basically every cattle program in business. That is why we put a huge emphasis on the Maternal Value EPD ($M). I think if you look at the sires we are using and the type of cattle we are focused on, it is noticeable that maternal emphasis is priority number one.
As we realize many of our customers operations sell the calves at weaning or after a short backgrounding period, the Dollar Weaned ($W) and Weaning Weight (WW) EPD’s are critical in many operations. But we also understand the importance of cattle that produce at the next level and are really trying to provide the genetics that will get your cattle in demand for that buyer and will have them paying top dollar to get your cattle on his truck. With the Feedlot Value ($F), Rate of Average Daily Gain (RADG), Dollar Beef ($B), and Carcass Traits all having major impacts for the feeder, it is imperative the rancher provides a product to the feedyard that has them saying next year I want those calves again.
After selling private treaty for the past 7 years, we are very appreciative of our current customers and really look forward to expanding our operation and meeting and working with more producers. To give everyone an equal opportunity at every bull in the pen, we felt the time was right to move toward an annual production sale. The bulls will be sorted into lots for viewing on sale day, and the bull videos are available for viewing on DV Auction, as well as live bidding on sale day will be on DV Auction. Although it is a small offering, I think if you really sit down and study these bulls, they can all provide a positive impact for your operation and also all segments of the industry. Please call with any questions or if you want to view the bulls earlier and we will gladly make time to meet with you and we hope to see you on Friday the 24th!

BULL • REG 20456669 • DOB 01/07/22 •

210 has been a favorite from the time he hit the ground. His sire, Tehama Patriarch, is one of the most popular bulls in the breed for producing top quality females and sons that have been topping sales across the country. The combination of his sires maternal strength and the fact that Dollar Up has the proven history of making phenomenal females puts this bull in a league of his own. Paired with the fact that his 6595 maternal granddam was one of the best cows that I purchased from Sitz Angus gives this bull a pedigree that is truly worth taking note.
Standing on a near perfect foot, out of over 1300 registered non parent Patriarch sons 210 ranks #15 for Heifer Pregnancy, #8 for Scrotal, and #5 for Foot Angle, ranking in the top 1% in each of those categories in the entire breed as well as the top 1% in Maternal Value. He also ranks in the top 10% in Weaning Weight, Rate of Average Daily Gain, Carcass Weight and Feedlot Value, top 4% YW. His outstanding phenotype, maternal pedigree, and an EPD profile that hits all traits that we strive for makes him an easy choice to collect and use him within our program. This bull exemplifies our philosophy of Maternal Driven Performance and we are very excited about his future!

Doc Ryan backed by our top pick of the Rishel Females. Bill Rishel told me his dam was one of his favorite cows to sell that day and this bull shows why. A future donor cow, look for influence in the future, she is a picture perfect Angus female. Of the people who have seen this bull, they have told me he is one of the cleanest fronted Doc sons they have seen with a classic cow making phenotype, tons of depth and a big hip wrapped up in a true calving ease bull ranking in the top 15% for CED and BW. Also top 25% $W and top 10% $M and HP, stands on a great foot and he is a big time carcass bull with top 20% RE, top 15% Marb, and top 10% $G!

Two-year-old bull that I used as a clean up bull as a yearling. His powerful Homestead dam puts a lot into her calves each and every year. His individual performance with a WW ratio of 106 and YW ratio of 108 along with his phenotype is the kind anyone is after. Big topped, long spined and we look forward to his calves coming this year. Top 25% YW, $M, and $W, 20% WW and top 10% HP
Another 927 son with added performance out of a Dash cow that I flushed before I sold her. She raised this calf at 13 years of age. This bull should add power to any calf crop and give you the kind of heifers that will produce year after year. Big time ratios at weaning and yearling. Don’t overlook him.
Lot 8
36 Angus Active Duty 144
Another two-year-old bull that would have been easy to sell as a yearling but I don’t want to let anything go as a yearling that was born after February 15th. His Pathfinder dam always raised a good one and he is one that is hard not to look at. Tremendous shape and rib with a huge top. He ranks top 25% YW, 15% $F and 10% RADG, he will make a profit at the bunk and keep those buyers wanting more.
Lot 9
36 Angus Sandhiller 212
Probably the most powerful calving ease bull in the offering, he looks and acts a lot like his papa, and performed like him too. Born light at a 94 ratio and growing up to compete with the big name sires! Offering a ton of mass for a calving ease option and having the docility of his sire to make him the kind of bull everyone wants to take home. Ranks in the top 30% for CED and $F, 25% $W and 10% for BW, this stout made bull is more than just a heifer bull.

36 Angus Active Duty 262
Calving ease bull who is the youngest bull in the offering that grew up fast and and has the power to be there on sale day. Out of a Sitz Logo daughter who catches everybody’s eye, she shows why Logo might make some of the best females in the breed. For cow/calf operations who want maternal value, don’t look past this bull. Top 35% YW, Top 20% WW, top 10% CED, BW, $M, $W, and with a top 2% HP, this bull can fit anywhere in your program.
Another deep sided 927 son that goes back to the granddam of Lot 1. His dam, 703, is one of the best cows on the place and has already been flushed after just her first 3 calves. 245 is moderate framed with length and eye appeal. If you’re looking to make those efficient long lasting front pasture females, look no further. He is good footed and ranks top 35% CW and RE, 30% $B and 15% $F to produce the feeder calves that are profitable and the heifers that go in the replacement pen.

Dollar Up son out of the next featured donor cow. I can’t say enough about his dam; she’s an absolute sweetheart, not only did she AI breed at 13 years of age and wean him off at nearly 800 lbs with a WR of 111 during a drought but she AI bred every year of her life. She records 12 calves with a calving interval of 362 days (one set of twins). With over 50 frozen embryos and her still in my yard to flush again, she will be a major part of the program going forward. 229 is a powerful bull that will add frame, length, and maternal value. Honestly, he was bred to carry on the Dollar Up genetics coupled with this terrific cow and was the bull I was fully anticipating to be a major part of my program, unfortunately he does have a bit of white on his sheath but for any commercial cattle operation, here is your chance to capture a bull that will impact your herd in the right way. He ranks in the top 20% $F and $W, top 10% WW, YW and CW, top 3% Docility and HP and the top 1% $M.

This bull goes back to the 20-7 donor cow and dam of 36 Angus Trademark 023, his Profile 041 sire was her last calf she raised at 13 years of age and was the standout bull sold that year who weaned at a 113 ratio, unfortunately he got lamed up before delivery. I let him cover a few cows to try and get some calves out of him. 249 is a calving ease thick made bull that has a tremendous maternal pedigree stacked with real world performance to produce long lasting profitable females. Ranks in the top 35% $W, RADG, RE, CED, and top 20% BW and HP.
Two-year-old bull out of a Game Day cow that I flushed last year on the place. Out of another long lasting productive cow that weaned off a big time bull with a 205 weight of 766 lbs with a ratio of 107 at the age of 13. This bull has added power but couldn’t quite pass his test in time as a yearling, I gave him till June 15th and tested him and he passed at over 87%. Top 30% WW, 20% HP, and top 10% $M.

Really nice calving ease bull with a great maternal pedigree - Patriarch, SITZ Profile, and the granddam is the dam of 36 Angus Powerball 927 (Sire of lots 2,7,10). 209 should make some tremendous females that are full of rib, moderate, efficient and productive. Has a great set of EPD’s ranking in the top 35% $B, YW, Scrotal, top 20% $G, HP, 10% CEM, RE, $C and $W. He also is in the top 2% of the breed for $M, BW, and CED.
36 Angus Exclusive 236
An Exclusive son that unfortunately got orphaned as a young calf and had to survive this summer on less than most. His sire has been one of the hottest bulls in the breed the last couple years and we have been really impressed with what Musgrave Exclusive puts into his calves. Our new herd sire, SITZ Exclusive 10811, purchased on the fall 2022 SITZ Angus sale, will carry on his lineage and look for those calves in future sales. He really caught up with the rest of the bulls once on a level playing field and he does do a lot of things right. Ranks in the top 35% Marb, $G, $M, and 10% BW, CED, and top 4% CEM.
COMMERCIAL BULLS

Lot 29 and 30 are commercial bulls. We have a few commercial cows left that we use for recip cows. All these cows go back to my grandfather, Bill Sitz Sr’s, herd. That was a registered herd but as he retired, he quit registering his cattle but has the bloodlines that have been in our family since 1923. These bulls absolutely fit in with the rest of the offering and although they may not have the EPD’s to back them up, they performed and have the phenotype to be offered on sale day. They are both sired by 36 Angus Logo 937, he was the first calf by the dam of lot 10, and was collected before I sold him. His sons sold extremely well last year and his daughters are standouts. These are both A.I. calves and you will definitely notice them when looking through the bulls.

Lot 29

36 Angus Logo 214
Out of a Raven Powerball daughter, this commercial cow raised a huge calf every year and A.I. bred her first 3 calves until she got moved to the recip cows. I expect fertility before I ask them to take an embryo so there is a lot of cow production behind this bull. He weighed in the top 10 bulls at weaning and was the 4th heaviest when we took yearling weights. Really long bodied and thick topped bull.
36 Angus Logo 232
This bull’s granddam was the best cow that was in my Grandpa’s herd when I bought them. She was moderate, always A.I. bred and raised a huge calf. He told me he sold a commercial bull calf out of her for over $10,000 one year. She is still producing at a commercial operation at age 15. This bull will make terrific females that will be in your herd a long time. His dam is out of Sitz Response and is a super productive cow.

36 Angus Trademark 023

This bull was sold to Carl Molesworth from Burwell, NE as a yearling in 2021. We collected him before delivery and have implemented his use in our herd. He is an Embryo Transfer out of SITZ Logo and our Donor Cow 207. This powerful cow was not only a donor for us but also at SITZ Angus in Montana. She was a powerful Upward daughter that weaned a bull calf at nearly 800 lbs when she was 13 years of age. Trademark is a tremendously thick made bull that also weaned near 800 lbs and ranks in the top 1% of HP, $M, $W. Look for his progeny in upcoming sales.

Justified 104
This bull was sold to Mark and Denise Wray of Ord, NE as a yearling in 2022. They have collected him to implement his use on the heifer development program. We were able to use this bull natural service on some of our own heifers before delivery. 104 is one of those rare calving ease sires that is exceptionally wide based with a terrific amount of muscle expression. He ranks in the top 10% for $M and the top 1% HP. His calves came light and full of vigor, look for his influence in future offerings.
