Greetings and welcome to the Sandy Acres Simmental 2024 bull sale lineup showcasing over 50 years of breeding for maternal excellence to meet the diverse needs of the cattle industry.
We take pride in offering this year’s set of bulls. Two things stood out to us as we studied the genetic makeup of these bulls. The first is the number of bulls with high milk markers in the DNA along with high stayability. Contrary to popular belief, replacement heifers out of these bulls will last longer and raise bigger calves. The second thing we noticed is the number of bulls with a low Residual Feed Intake (RFI) number in the DNA. These bulls and their calves will need less feed intake for growth and maintenance. Efficient feed utilization ultimately contributes to cost effective production practices. And with the current prices of hay that’s significant money in your pocket.
If you came here looking for a bull to produce beautiful, efficient females, we have him; a bull to make feedlot cattle with lots of grow, he’s here; a bull with out-cross genetics or Fleckvieh influence for hybrid vigor, you’re in the right place! As you look through the catalog keep in mind that we never push these bulls too hard. No creep feed or push to gain on grain. You’ll be able to turn your yearling bull out to pasture and bring him home at the end of the season bigger, stronger, ready for winter. We guarantee it.
Feel free to call or stop by the farm before sale day to discuss the bulls. Cattleusa.com will be hosting the sale online and will be available for online bidding. If you have questions about online sale sign-up, do not hesitate to contact us or the sale barn.
We look forward to seeing you on sale day, February 16th. Come early to view the bulls and enjoy lunch. It’s a pleasure serving you and we look forward to meeting your breeding needs as the industry evolves and changes.

YEARLING CARE We are firm believers in the use of yearling bulls and feel it is one of the best years of their lives. It is a time when they are easy to manage and their only concern is breeding cows.We have found that yearling bulls that are managed carefully during the second year of their lives not only do well, but they also perform better over time. Below are suggested guidelines for care of yearling bulls:
1. Upon delivery, keep yearling bulls seperate from older bulls and feed them a maintenance ration of 5-8 pounds per head of grain and free choice hay. Reduce the amount of grain gradually, so that the bulls are on straight hay or grass 2-4 weeks prior to the breeding season.
2. Where possible, try to limit the bulls to 45-60 days of pasture service for the first year. At this time, remove the bulls and put them in separate pastures with good, quality grass.
3. You will see the benefit of a little added cost and care by probably two or three additional years of service!
